Lester Hayes has career post season stats that are incredible. He never had an interception in the 2 Super Bowls that he played in but he had at least one interception in every playoff game leading up to SBXV and SBXVII for a total of 6 in 5 playoff games returning 2 of them for Touchdowns. In SBXV he shut down HOF WR Harold Carmichael & In SBXVIII he shut down HOF WR Art Monk. In the playoffs leading up to those 2 Super Bowls victories he shut down WRs John Jefferson, HOF WR Charlie Joiner, HOF WR John Stallworth, and HOF WR Steve Largent. Lester is a member of the 1980s NFL All Decade team, in 1980 he was NFL Defensive Player of the year, and he won 2 SB rings where he eliminated 2 HOF WRs from being a factor in those two games. Someone please tell me why in the fu$ck is the Judge not in the HOF? Are the sports writers clueless? Obviously yes

Amazingly the match up between Hayes bs Jefferson is the reason I started watching and playing football. The 1980 seasons I watched both regular season games between the Raiders and Chargers and these two players had some epic battles!!! Would love to see highlights of these two facing each other!

Mike Haynes and John Jefferson were teammates at Arizona State. That during the mid-1970s, when ASU was becoming the next great college program. Undefeated season in ‘75 and a No. ranking. Then everything fell apart.

To any Hayes Hater who say "What about stickum??" I ask you to post a video of Lester Hayes sticking out his hand and the ball sticking to it for an INT. You know why you can't? Because they don't exist because it never happened. Hayes was an exceptional athlete who had superior playmaking ability to anticipate the QB's throw and step in front of the WR. The HoF doesn't deserve Hayes....or Cliff Branch or Jim Plunkett for that matter.

I find it comical that so many speak of Lester and *stickum* but when you look at his coverage skills, he was always in perfect position for the pick. How does stickum help with that? His technique was flawless and he could tackle. Those using stickum as a crutch need to stop. Look how he played his man and the ball and always positioned himself between the WR and the ball. Few DB's in the history of the league had that skill on a consistent basis.
