As others have been commenting, I, too, love it when you and your mom are together. I’m in your mom’s age group and always love seeing how she’s dressed and how her hair is styled. 😊 She is so stylish and, yet, casual and real. Re this video: right on target for me today. I’m getting into my bra drawer and getting rid of the ‘good’ ones that were expensive but I haven’t worn because they ‘hurt.’ Thank you, thank you, thank you - because today you’ve given me permission to be reasonable with myself. ❤

Your mom caught the decluttering bug from you! Really though, it's so great when you finally get to that point of easily letting go of anything that you don't actually like to wear. At first, it's like pulling teeth and hard to get rid of anything but then you start to enjoy eliminating everything from your wardrobe that you don't want to wear. I was packing for a trip a couple of weeks ago and it turned into a full closet declutter. I love that it's more minimal and I feel no need to replace anything, just like your mom was saying.

It's because of you, Shannon! Your Mom has seen you do this and because you gave her a boost to get started, it just took off. This feels so relatable. I used to think just as Kathy used to 🤔 ...I better save it just in case, and definitely I better save it until I wear the first one out. I still have to remind myself, " Wear that... it doesn't matter if you wear it .. enjoy it, every day is a special day!" And it's true, once you start it's like the ball just keeps rolling. For me, sometimes I will just be doing something such as exercising and I'll close my eyes and think, "do I have anything in my sleep drawer that I don't like?" and I'll be able to picture just what's in there and think of something in particular and as soon as I get off the exercise bike, it's out of there haha Love ya'll. Yes, this is real life. The scratchy stuff, just all of it. And yes..there WAS a reason why we let each of those items go. This video will be a great help to many ;)
@shannontorrens12 жыл бұрын
Thank you Julia! I used to always save my clothes for special occasions. I think what happens is as you get older time speeds up and suddenly you realise it's been 10 years or more since you wore something (at least that's what's happened to me 🤣). Then you realise that it came from a different stage of your life and it's just not you anymore. Sometimes things no longer fit, but you wouldn't wear it even if it did fit. I've been decluttering for a while but it might be time for another major clothes purge. Some I've been hanging onto for the weight loss. Ah, that old chestnut I hear you say. Truly I really do need to lose quite a bit for health. But, thinking about some of my items, I'm not sure I'd wear them anyway.
@labradorite8256 Жыл бұрын
You won't believe what I just did. Culled 2 wardrobes by almost half! Started with the back up wardrobe and as you say, got on a roll and did the main one!! Going by the coathangers there were approx 50 items went. More than I'll ever wear. I've culled before, it's not new to me. But after watching your Mum it was never this easy before. I was so decisive. Please tell her thank you for allowing us to see that, and thank you for facilitating this.

@@labradorite8256 You're welcome! You've inspired me to go through my clothes again to get ready for Spring! I still have items that I have held on to and I think it's time to let them go. We all inspire each other. Kathy (Shannon's mom)

@@kathyol well it was meant to be because the very next day was a charity clothes collection in my suburb that I didn't even know about. I was still running out the next morning adding to the bags before the truck came!
