I’m the classic case for your video! I used to play an R11TP set at 9.5, Fujikura X flex shaft and hit bombs. 300 plus was easy and used to hack partners off driving par4’s then illness & injury struck my distances dropped markedly but I kept my set up CONVINCED the bombs would come back then I got fitted by my club pro into a Titleist TS3. Softer shaft (hzrdus stiff) and 11 deg of loft (women’s driver loft) but spin at 2400 and 99% of distance back! I’m a CONVERT!

I got fitted with a 12 degrees driver this year. I was out on the range testing it a few days ago. The ball flight was great. Better distance than before and hitting it more consistent than with my older 10.5 degree driver.
@patrickhoward4080 Жыл бұрын
So many people get adjusting the head wrong. In the first 1:20 of this video…you state what most people do not know and don’t unfortunately do not understand about adjusting their driver. I’m a 5 hcp and I have had every driver you can possibly imagine. Hitting stealth now. Std loft. If I turn it down I hit push fades…if I turn it up I hit draws/hooks. I have to have the std setting to get nuetral ball flight. If I want more or less loft I need a new head with lower or more loft. If you fade the ball you can adjust the head up in loft which will close the face and minimize a fade: likewise if you draw/hook the ball…lower the loft and open it up and it will reduce the draw. When you do these things they will affect your distance as well. Example: if you play a fade….a 10.5 head turned up to 12.5 to close the face and you play a fade…you will drop distance. You could go into a 8 or 9 degree head then turn it up to 10 or 11 degrees loft and then play a fade and give you better numbers for distance. U need to do all this on a trackman to see or old school on a course and hit different marked balls and check ball flight and distance. Tweak and repeat over and over u til you are dialed in.

Sounds backwards. I thought lowering the loft closes the face????
@patrickhoward40803 ай бұрын
@@brotherbread6549 lowering loft opens the face. Example. Standard loft is 10.5…if you adjust down to 9.5 you will open the face angle. If you increase loft it will close the face angle. 10.5 increased up to 11.5 it will close it. Depending on which brand of loft sleeve u are using…lie angle will also affected up or down will can affect start line of the ball. Taylormade has a single adjustment sleeve for the head. You can move it 2 degrees up or down in loft. Their sleeve can open or close the face 4 degrees and lie angle is increased or decreased accordingly. Just search google for like a stealth or qi10 adjustment chart and you can see how it works…titleist as well has a chart for their adjustments of drivers, fairways, and hybrids. Callaway as well…And they all do work and affect ball flight.

Interesting vid Lee, when I get fitted for a driver, I normally get fitted into a 9deg head with the loft cranked up a deg which closes the face slightly. This usually gives me my optimum launch numbers. Though I did get "fitted" at a Golf Outlet store many years ago and the "fitter" (I use the term very loosely) tried to get me in a driver with a 13deg head, the ball was launching into orbit!!!!!!!

Hello there, interesting vid, been playing about with shaft length and stiffness. I have a shorter shaft (1.5 inch) and very stiff, only use when feeling strong and quick, always know what it’s going to do, increase the loft and it works for 250-270 yards. I have a regular full length, messed about with loft to 11.25 today and overall distance was 3 yards short of 300 on one of my drives that I took the time to measure. I’m a right to left ball flight and this does increase my hook when not hitting well so likely back to 10.5 for me

As always Lee, great video, something to consider with a fitting, I have a 10.5 cheap driver at the moment, I gave away my old Ping eye 2 driver away (silly me) but still got my ping eye 2 3,5,7, wood which I still hit fairly well, but I will be getting a fitting.

Using an old R15 driver with 14* loft which I lowered to 12 with the shaft adjustment, and I only noticed a small lowering of flight and a few more yards in total distance. Accuracy was similar, and much much more dependent on me not the club. I get 15* launch angle with 100 feet peak height.

Thanks for this. I just put my 10 degree driver up to 11.5 and I'm now carrying it 220 instead of 205 yards. I swing around 90-96 mph. Any ball you'd advise to use for this loft and speed?

I fully understand the optimal theory and everyone needs to go on a launch monitor to find theirs. For me it gets tricky when we're constantly told to hit up with driver! If like me, approaching 60 and speed has been lost what is best, hit up and take spin off or add loft with more spin!!! I'm confused 🤪

Is it correct that if you increase the loft of a driver, on the adapter, than the face closes? So for a slicer the higher loft would help. The problem is most utube videos are made by professionals and most of us are no where near that level

Am interested in this as well. I have using the M2 10.5 Driver, I currently have it lofted down to 9.25 or 9.5 (cannot quite remember). Recently been getting a bit more ball speed (120-130). When I did have it in 10.5, I really did see, what I thought was to high ball flight, and the reason for lofting down. On the M2, does lowering the loft open or close the face? Think I may need to put it back to 10.5 and see what happens

I would prefer to see a comparison using dynamic loft rather than static loft. Physics tells us that 85% of launch angle is determined by dynamic loft and just 15% by attack angle. I think there is generally too much emphasis on static loft and attack angle.
