I agree. I suspect, Ten hag was using Ronaldo to deflect the blame from himself and the other players (giving himself more time in the job), by portraying CR7 as a trouble maker and the weakest link. Roy was having none of it and shame on Gary for playing club politics. In his first season back at the club, he scored 24 goals. Unfortunately, the club didn't share his drive and ambition.
