I think this could be really handy, if you're towards the end of a project, and you discover the bass drum or rimshot or what ever , isn't Punching thru the mix. Possibly many other variables too , (I'm a long time multi- instrumentalist, but relatively new to recording sound, and beat making , specifically)

Why doesn't native Instruments or anyone tell us about this stuff? I've been over + over the manual, I watched almost every Boris (the NI Maschine dude) I even paid 20 bucks for a supposed video that explains "everything" in Maschine (?!) I just watched another individual show how to record anything you do in Maschine, and that was nowhere to be found or heard on any of the aforementioned tutorials, either (?) IT'S A CONSPIRACY 😅 (Seriously doe, it's really strange why they aren't showing us these hidden tricks, not even in Maschine MANUAL)

I was so confused why so many people made videos stating layering as 4 separate pads playing together. Totally not the same. You did your thing my guy. You did what we been looking for. Simple, 3 kicks one pad. Finally someone gave the people what they want. Good job and Thanks for sharing

This is dope! A very cool method of layering. The only reason I would use more pads is to be able to filter the kicks so that I can get just the top of one and the bottom of another. In ableton its easy to do this with the drum rack. I'm going to add this method to the arsenal tho, because I do see it being beneficial in certain situations.
@WeCreateMusicTV

You can still do that with this process and the drums would actually be layered properly.

Just a random question; Do a lot of you fellow beatmakers out there tune your drums to the music, (Keys, bass, guitar, etc) Or , do you tune them to each other? Other ? Personally, i have tuned drums a couple times , (to the music) i cant really say whether it was for better or worse, When i played with a group, i know our permanent percussionist / drummer would tune his toms and snare, kinda just to the rest of the drums..... Just curious !
@WeCreateMusicTV
@WeCreateMusicTV 19 күн бұрын
You tune to the key of the song. So if your creating the song in Eb then you want to make sure that the drums are the same. Not so much the percussions but definitely the main instruments, keys, bass, guitar, etc.

Is there a way to add effects to the separate samples by layerng this way and also filter them individually?
@WeCreateMusicTV
@WeCreateMusicTV Жыл бұрын
Let me research and find out. My first initial thought is no but there may be a way to do it. You can definitely do it by grouping the pads and then adding individual effects to each pad as you normally would. Layering is a different type of processing as you are blending two drums together to make them cohesive.

@WeCreateMusicTV

Because putting them in a group is not actually layering them. it is as you said grouping them. Layering give you the ability to make them blend and create a more dynamic kick, snare, etc.

@@WeCreateMusicTV yeah, he’s right, you have all this control and more over them on linked pads, this just limits your sound shaping abilities. The best thing to do would be the group them, tune, ADSR, compress, limit and EQ them individually until they work together perfectly and resample that back into a single pad.
