nice project. Tip: Now that you have done this and know your actual cut times from the vcarve projected, When in vcarve at the time guesstimation tab, you can decrease the scale factor on this job to match your actual times to know what to change it to next time for your machine. Also, I'm sure you had the afterthought as well irt the toolmarks on the left side. go back into the job and create an offset to "shave" off those toolmarks :)

Yes, you are correct. I could have done that. I was concerned that it would be confusing to the viewers especially the people new to VCarve. I did not know about the estimation tab. Thank you, I look at that.

Great looking project! Great way to hear into a new year. I'm sure you already know this, but I'll throw it out there... Your first finish that you tried, Varathane stain, I don't think you put a sanding sealer on first, but maybe that would prevent the stain to absorb. Try putting on a stain conditioner on prior to the stain, I apply normally two coats than the stain and this helps tremendously keeping a very consistent stain coverage (no blotchy effects). This may not however allow a very crisp look in the cut grain after routering. I think your other finish was super looking though, that's would be my choice. Nice work. Wishing you and your family a very Safe, Healthy and prosperous New Year! By the way I'm out of touch a bit, but it looks like a new CNC machine. Very nice. Andrew

Thank you very much. The blotchy effect was not my only concern. The stain is a very dark and almost black but it still goes on and really does not color the wood as I wish. It the blotches were the only concern you are correct. A wood conditioner would work well. The other method is so much easier and gets the results immediately.

Try Old Masters wiping stain or paint stores can custom mix a wiping stain too.

Have you done a video with the CNC cutting mdf?
@PawPawsWorkShop3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is a great material to carve. It is hard on the bits however.

Hi.Thanks for the awesome content. It is always educational and we learn so much. I know you did an assembly video on the New-Carve machine but no other reviews on it's performance and such. Were you planning on doing reviews of it? I am looking at buying a unit and am debating between the New-Carve and the Onefinity. Any words of advise? Thanks.

Everytime I do a carve you can see how it is performing. It is outstanding. I love it.

Awesome video and final product! I noticed your boundary vector offset was at 0.06 when you set it up originally and wondered if you’d run up against your lettering. You said later you had it set to 0.07. Just curious if you did later change it to 0.07 or if the 0.06 was the issue. Regardless though it turned out great! Keep the videos coming!
@PawPawsWorkShop3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I said that I was going to change it to .07 but I did not. Sometimes doing the videos I forget to make the changes. Yes, the bit just barely touched the edges. Thank you very much.

Why did you use tabs over your tape/cca glue method? LOVE THE VIDS. Thank you.

Nevermind. You answered it towards the end.

I like to show a variety of different methods so that each person can choose for themselves what direction that they wish to go in. Throughout my channel I do different methods of all different types of projects. Most times it is just to show the community another way to do the same thing. It has also made me expand my horizons to look for different methods and as a result I believe that it has made me a better woodworker along the way.

Looks great, your feeds and speeds could be increased by at least double if not triple in some cases. I have the same machine and with a 1/4” endmill I run roughly 100-150 and 1/8” 100-150 with a .125 dpp on the 1/4 and .0625 on the 1/8. I need to figure out the Z proving it’s always a hard part for me.
@PawPawsWorkShop3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info! I agree, I mentioned that several times in the video about the speeds. I'm still use to the XCarve. I definitely saw it when I was running the carve.

Really great video. I enjoy all of your postings. I have a question. I don't use V carve, I use Easel.I like the style of texture you used in this video, and I know you use Easel. Is there a way to import this texture into easel?
@PawPawsWorkShop10 ай бұрын
No, I am not aware of a way to import the texture into Easel from VCarve.
@PawPawsWorkShop10 ай бұрын
There is a texture app in Easel. I have not used it but you should be able to create a similar texture.
