Also, all that "ban" really did was ban certain characteristics. Gun manufacturers still made guns that operated in the same way, minus those characteristics. It did nothing. The "drop" in crime that the left cites was happening before that ban, and continued after it was up too. It did nothing. Also, they had to prove that the ban was effective after those 10 years and they couldn't... so.. This new "assault weapons" ban goes insanely far. It's 100% unconstitutional. Hmmm, so we're talking about a semiautomatic pistol that was used in this horrible crime, then we jump straight to "Ban assualt (style) weapons" (educate yourself, a Assualt Rifle is a weapon that can fire more than one round on a single trigger pull). I do think that something needs to be done, but not at the expense of our Constitutional rights (for us that obey the law). "assault weapon" is a orwellian term. Nobody is capable of defining what an "assault weapon" is. Nobody can explain the difference between an "assault weapon" and a standard hunting rifle.

@@whodatking26 you can 3dprint an extended magazine for any hunting rifle. Should hunting rifles be banned too? The only siffefence between an ar15 and a hunting rifle, is the hunting rifle has a wooden veneer to make it look old-timey, and the ar has metal rail to make it look modern. They are both functionally identical. The reason the AR is so popular over a wooden hubting rifle,, is that its an "opensource"/patent-free design that any company can make parts for. So you can get pink Hello Kitty stocks, and a grill with hearts instead of slits etc etc. You can make it look however you want. It still does the same damage as a hunting rifle though. No matter how many cool accessories you add to it.
