I just got into yugioh and I was at the shop looking through chaff to build my first deck. I came across some p.u.n.k. cards and set them aside because they looked cool and had clear synergy. I also happened to set aside 3 copies of psychic end punisher because it looked cool. My friend bumped into me while I was looking through the cards and told me the punk engine pumps 8’s and 11’s really well-I am so pumped to be building something even remotely meta based on mostly visual interest :)

I topped my wcq qualifier (unfortunately my locals didn't want to share my list) but I was surprised watching this how similar we thought about deck building and ratios for the deck, I see so many inexperienced players run more than 1 GP Trap, 1 baller, no nytro, 3 Carrie, 1 of each spell etc. and Ive personally never been able to justify those ratios and has no idea why people used them (I think the only difference between our lists from when I topped is I played book of eclipse main & a called by over veiler and droll instead of ash)
@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
Congrats on the WCQ Qualifier win! I think what you're seeing might be a result of me having played this deck from release (both the PUNK engine and GP engine) and thus having a lot of experience with the deck. Sure, most of my testing is through DB and locals (the latter at least hosts big case tourneys from time to time), but that's been enough to help me gauge what choices are better than others. I don't blame other players for the other ratios - I can see where they're coming from even if I don't agree with them. E.g. +1 GP Trap b/c the trap is a good card and isn't HOPT (even though playing more than one can brick); 3 Carrie isn't awful since it's a neat level 3 extender that helps you make synchro plays. In essence, I these players wanting to prepare for certain niche scenarios even if they don't need to. I think the only differences in our lists might be because of the format we each play in - my choices felt accurate for my locals. Glad to hear though that the list seems sound to you, also thanks for watching!
@Harmonic14Ай бұрын
Baller and Nytro can brick at more than 1 (Nytro can be a brick period...), but either 1 or 2 Baller is usually fine. 3 Carrie is usually played when the others are at 0-1 so you have enough names left in deck for the trap in case you draw a GP name.

I used your decklist for my locals that I played yesterday. I just put 2 nib instead of talent in main because i wanted to play as much as I can because of potentially drawing some handtraps through extreme session or the gp continuous spell. Overall I love this deck and I am excited for the new punk support coming to tcg😁

Thoughts on the Armored XYZ Engine ?
@pavi420696 ай бұрын
Great list! I would suggest playing ogre dance, at least x2, since you want ze amin in the hand as much as possible and it makes a good combo with the field spell. Also, eradicator is not bad, I thought it was really bad and unplayable but it's actually not. I also play 3x of upstart goblin, it's so good with punisher and the gp engine. What are you thoughts about this?
@pk_tuneworld6 ай бұрын
I wasn't playing Ogre Dance because I wanted to trade consistency for more options + play less into Droll since I mainly play only at the locals scene and people have weird lists. If anything, I might put one copy in, but not sure about two. Eliminator feels unnecessary to me - you rarely use it without its on field effect, but then using its on-field effect locks you into Eradicator. So, in a sense, its niche. I have considered putting Eradicator back in though. You are right - the card isn't all that bad. It's generic, offers a good means of dealing with your opponent's board, and can be made during your opponent's turn with Leon + Baller. My logic behind not playing Upstart is potentially a little strange/ hard to explain. I get the benefits of the card, but I'd rather just have other tech options or other forms of consistency in those slots. E.g., let's say you choose to cut 3 hand traps for those 3 Upstarts - I'd much rather have the hand traps in a lot of situations over the Upstarts. The spell card also only really feels good to play in 40-card decks - I've been pushing higher deck counts with some variations of this list. Can explain more if need be, but the TLDR here is it likely just comes down to deck-building preferences/ philosophy. The cards you listed are perfectly fine to play otherwise - there are plenty of other players trying them out on their own.

Awesome video, love GP Punk What do you think about terrortop and gossip shadow?
@pk_tuneworld6 ай бұрын
Though not for me personally, I like Terrortop. Obviously, it's a free Rank 3 body - you could easily use it to quickly make Chariot Carrie or something else. If you lean more towards the GP package and or include Goblin cards, would happily put it in. Gossip Shadow - yeah, if you have the space, it works. I'm not the biggest fan of it, however, because I like building to play through hand traps rather than prevent them (minus Number 90 mentioned in the video). E.g., building Terrortop to extend your combos likely baits out hand traps already, so you could then use that package to strengthen your board if your opponent has none to begin with. Furthermore, I tend to dislike giving my opponent extra draws (they could just draw into another hand trap after you negate one).

I do wish that Eliminator/ Eradicator were better than what they are. At the very least, they aren't complete garbage and does give this deck more options should it ever need them (e.g., maybe there is a format where Eliminator/ Eradicator are both worth playing in PUNK GP). Least this deck feels solid already unlike a ton of other archetypes that keep getting subpar support.
@ryionizer36225 ай бұрын
@@pk_tuneworld yeah that's the thing GP felt the most like a playable deck out of the bunch I mentioned, many of which were basically non functional before their import support (memento) so I guess I understand it. What I'm more annoyed at with them is they both feel so bland and uninspired mechanically and design wise. My nightmare scenario for the deck was just "another main deck guy and corresponding extra deck guy" for support. Especially for one we already have enough of those and there's so many cool ideas for stuff you could make, how about a race announcer monster? How about a field spell? Like it just felt like such a a lay up and we got the blandest stuff ever. Not to mention the decks whole thing is kinda having one of each type, one synchro one xyz one link one fusion, and then they just give us another synchro? Like what?
@ryionizer36225 ай бұрын
@@pk_tuneworld speaking of race announcer monster I actually had a really cool idea for pendulum for the deck (to round out the deck having one of each type) but the gimmick with it is this singular pend monster would be the race announcer and the pend zone would be his announcer box. You don't actually pend summon in the deck but the announcer just sits in the "announcer box" and gives you effects from there.
@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
@@ryionizer3622 I do feel like Gold Pride needed another Synchro and probably still needs one tbh. For the former: we needed some sort of level 8 synchro to make off of Baller + Leon when you're locked into GP. So Eradicator, though not perfect, works. For the latter: I feel like it would be nice to have a level 11 synchro for the scenarios where you have Nytro + Leon and are locked. You could argue these two things aren't 100% necessary since there are ways to play around Leon's restriction, but having these options would definitely help the deck.

Would you play either of the new gold pride monsters? Eradicator seems decent and looks mad
@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
Eliminator is really underwhelming IMO. It's not a great extender since it doesn't really feed into the GP/ PUNK combos bar one scenario (e.g. you can't use it to make Chariot Carrie, and you can only use it to make Dragon Drive if you open Carrie with this list). So, if you open it going first, it's kinda just there and doesn't let you play through hand traps. You can make Eradicator, sure, but the synchro monster, at least based on my own experiences, feels like a "win-more" card since your board is usually insane already. Meanwhile, you open it going second - maybe you can use it to make Eradicator and out something on your opponent's board, but that requires a lot of set-up. I did admit in the video, on the other hand, about maybe putting Eradicator in. There are some situations where you might still make it going first into some match-ups - the fact it's generic makes this easier. It can also help out things going second. Though, the main reason I'd put it in is for those off scenarios where you're locked into Leon during your opponent's turn and have Leon + Baller on field to quick-synch. Could be flawed logic on either of these, but TLDR is both cards are "okay" but didn't live up to what I need them to be in order to include them.
@niknak30395 ай бұрын
@@pk_tuneworld all valid and thoughtful reasons. ED slots are important to and playing Eradicator takes one away too so could be something better to play. Not a huge fan of the card. For the most part, you're typically capable of enabling your GP package through the PUNK engine even if it gets negated. Sure, Upstart adds consistency in a sense, but I would prefer to fill those extra slots with cards that guarantee me a combo. E.g., Upstart might just draw you into something you don't need at all whereas having another extender or hand trap can be used to push through your opponent's hand trap or board. Also, a lot of GP PUNK lists including mine are pushing over 40, and Upstart, in my opinion, just feels awful if you're playing over 40. TLDR, my deckbuilding theory doesn't support Upstart. Doesn't mean you can't play it, but I'm not a huge fan of it in a deck like this.

Not using LEDE support?
@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
Didn't feel like the support was good enough while playing with them. Eliminator itself, at least when I was testing it, never felt like a good extender. The only time you could use it to expand your combos is if you happened to open Captain Carrie alongside it to make a generic level 8 synchro (e.g. Dragon Drive). Otherwise, you obviously can only use it to make Eradicator via its own effect. Yet, even then, it always felt like the "cherry on top" for boards since your endboard is already incredibly strong. Eradicator has a bit more use, being generic. I did admit in the video I might throw it back. It's a target that Leon can make with itself + Baller if you're locked into GP. It also has some use in breaking boards going second. Trish might take the axe for it. Potentially flawed logic, sure. But the cards are kinda lukewarm imo

How do you feel about Eliminator/Eradicator? Worthy of play? Or unnecessary
@pk_tuneworld3 ай бұрын
I'm currently trying out Eradicator because I was finding a lot of situations where I wanted a third level 8 synchro that wasn't Dragite (great card, but sometimes you don't have the water in grave to make it live). Draco Berserker isn't bad, but I went back to the GP synchro since it seemed to be a little more flexible (you can use it going second to remove some stuff + summon it if you're locked into GP names off of Leon). On the other hand, still feel like Eliminator is not worth playing still. It's a mediocre level 5 body - the chances of you making synchro monsters with it without using its effect are low. It doesn't help you access your GP/ PUNK lines easily (Leon and Carrie are level 3's for Chariot Carrie, and Roller/ Nytro can be used in tandem with any PUNK name for Dragon Drive or Amazing Dragon, respectively). And, if you do use its effect, you can only ever summon Eradicator.
@WhySoSebas5 ай бұрын
why not any of the new support?
@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
It just feels mid. What's nice about all the other GP cards is you can use them for their intended purpose (e.g. searching trap with Carrie/ summoning a GP name from GY with Leon) or as generic extenders (e.g. Roller Baller is a pseudo-Deer Note in a lot of scenarios). Eliminator, at least in this build, doesn't work like that. The only time it feeds into the GP and PUNK combos is if you open Carrie alongside it to make Dragon Drive. Otherwise, you're incentivized to use its effect, but you can only ever make Eradicator with it. And sure, Eradicator isn't a bad body. But, when you're trying to push through HT's, it doesn't do anything. Eradicator also feels like the "cherry on top" for your endboard since it's usually insanely strong already. The one caveat here is Eradicator has some use going second, but playing Eliminator as a one-of just for this purpose feels iffy. TLDR, for Eliminator, card is too niche. As I admit in the video tho, might put back Eradicator in since [1] it's generic and can be made if needed; [2] helps for those scenarios where you summon Leon and are locked into GP but want a big, useful body; [3] the last reason of the above paragraph (wow I write a lot). My logic could easily be flawed, but I just didn't vibe with either card that much in testing.

@pk_tuneworld9 күн бұрын
The real answer is you cry. But, really, if you know Rising Carp has a low chance of resolving (and, honestly, this is so much more true now with Dominus Impulse being in the TCG), you can always try a different line. Gunning straight for Dragon Drive works. Using the GP line to bait out stuff works. Though, sometimes, Rising Carp may be the only play and you just gotta accept you might get hand trapped.

Great video ! With such a fantastic array of hand traps, I’d swap out one Ghost Ogre and two TTT for a Called by the Grave and two Crossout Designators. By the way, any specific reason why Called by the Grave isn’t part of the main deck list ?
@pk_tuneworld6 ай бұрын
My deck-building logic, if it makes any sense, is that I like to build to play through stuff rather than prevent stuff. GP PUNK, to me at least, has always felt like it could play through one hand trap with the average hand. Sometimes, it can play through two (or even three) with an all-gas hand going first even without Called By/ Crossout. So, I like to cater to these strengths and play extenders or TTT-esque cards since these things will also help me break through an established board going second. E.g., I was playing against my friend on Branded yesterday - the TTTs in 3 separate games helped me out his board whereas Called By or Crossout would've been dead cards. One match-up out of many, sure, but a card like TTT, in my eyes, is just inherently more flexible than Called By/ Crossout. Sure, you could fill your deck with a million Crossout targets, but that just feels inefficient especially if you don't draw the quick-play. I can try to explain it further if need be. Nonetheless, appreciate your support as always, Armytile, love your wacky combos :D
@Armytile6 ай бұрын
@@pk_tuneworld Thank you for your thoughtful response ! Indeed, the philosophy of the deck is to provide alternative paths in case the main combo gets disrupted, rather than relying solely on a ‘one trick pony’ approach that must protect its chokepoint (like Rising Carp) at all costs. While this luxury may not be available to a pure P.U.N.K. deck, the addition of a supplementary engine like Gold Pride allows for such creative possibilities. I’m currently experimenting with various engines myself, including Melodious, to enhance the deck’s flexibility. Thank you for your support ! It’s thanks to high-quality content like yours that I can continue finding inspiration. Stay tuned for my next combo :)

@pk_tuneworld5 ай бұрын
Nah. I tested it for a week or two after it released, but it felt underwhelming. Going first, it feels win-more. It's not a great extender (the only way it contributes to your combo is if you open Captain Carrie so you don't need to summon a token and lock yourself). And your board is usually strong enough into most match-ups to where Eradicator being on field is like the second cherry on top. Going second, it is, in a sense, a "one-card" out to certain disruptions. But, again, the fact you can't utilize it very well with the rest of the deck (bar the Carrie situation + going second, it becomes Roller Baller fodder) makes it feel weak versus other options. Flawed logic, maybe, but it just never felt that strong when I used it.
