Happy Friday my dears!
We are back at Henford House today, we're still working on the exterior. Today we finish the courtyard area, the orangery and the main bedroom terrace. Have a great weekend and I'll see you all next week!

Love what you're doing with this build. Maybe you can add a little fountain in the middle of the orangery instead of that plant. You have a lot of tropical plants there and it could add some humidity for the sake of those plants. Also would be nice place to wash up for the gardener after working with the soil. I always think water and earth should go together :) I also thought of adding an easel to one side and a little chair for that space with the empty (no wine bottle/glasses) end table. Thinking one side for sitting and drinking tea and the other side for indulging creativity.

I love the fountain ideia at the center of the orangerie. It makes a lot of sense! Instead, I also thought of a cow plant, guarding the exquisite merlot grapes from intruders. It could add a bit of chaos to the gameplay 🙃

I know you said the two dogs are guard dogs but I had a thought: one or both could be show dogs. I thought maybe the objects for dog training and tricks could go in that area near courtyard (though I'm not sure, they might be a bit big). Otherwise, maybe that horseshoe game could go there?

Most large Manor houses grew their own herbs and Vegetables my great grandfather was gardener in such a place. I think that would fit nicely down the steps to the side of the house .

In the Outdoor Retreat pack there’s a game of horseshoes (not sure if regular or debug) that could fit nicely into that skinny bit of lawn off the courtyard. It would tie in with the stables and give them a nice outdoor activity.

I think the little bit along the side and front would be a lovely spot for a pet cemetery, honoring the line of guard dogs and horses the family have had through the years. Very fashionable for these aristocrat types!

in the little spot you mentioned at the end, the little side yard area, possibly some graves (except I know there are graves over at the church but it might be fun), and perhaps some of the items from romantic garden would fit well there. they have really pretty sculptures that look very old and might suit the house nicely. I feel like those sculptures would also look good in the orangery, maybe instead of two lounge areas in the windows there could be a sculpture on one side. LOVING this build doll, so fab!

Henford house is coming on beautifully as per usual, an idea I had for down the side of the house is a maze of hedges perhaps with a little chess table at the end? Not sure if its too small of a gap though 😅😊

It looks like a little secret place tucked away by the oak tree. Perhaps a spot containing a family secret. Something so scandalous that if it gets out, it could ruin their reputation... I don’t have more than that, im afraid. Somebody help me out!!!

I hope you add an old grandmotherly sim to this family that is their cook, and nanny. She’s the only person they’re all kind to( in their own ways). They also are slightly afraid of her because she knows everyone’s secrets ;)

if you're adding the dogs (I think hunting dogs would work well for this family) then that empty grass area could be the place for their kennels and/or some of that training equipment for them (cats and dogs stuff)

That area you're unsure of can have a few things for the dogs (like toys and a toy box) or a picnic spot where the lady and the groundskeeper can have some wonderful interactions whilst the others are away... Love this build, I like Angelina's idea of putting a fountain in the center of the orangery, whenever I think of a building like that I always imagine the sound of trickling water.

I was also going to suggest a dog-run! A spot for the dogs to do their 1s and 2s and such that the lady of the house doesn't mind being a bit unruly because its all hidden away 😌

I was also thinking a dog training section, for the highly trained guard dogs. Maybe the someone in the family has an interest in breeding and training exceptional guard dogs

You can use a nectar bottle from debug, there are also some wine glasses. For that other little table in the orangery.

I think that small grassy area should be for the kennel a couple of Malinois Sheppards named Sarge and General since they are guard dogs. Although they may have the dogs housed near the stables. Then you could make that lawn area a secluded sitting area to read a book and have tea.

For the small yard space towards the front under the tree, you could put a romance blanket from Lovestruck! They can watch stars, woo hoo and even have picnics!

Perhaps it’s a bit macabre, but I remember there’s a dog cemetery on the grounds of Edinburgh castle… so maybe that little secret corner of the garden could be a final resting place for beloved dogs or horses?

Well, it’s an old house, maybe the former generations were more sympathetic? 😅 The old lord Henford had a great passion for breeding first-class racing horses, didn’t you know? The Queen was most impressed with his work 😂

For the small tucked away garden space you could always do a smoking corner where the teens sneak off to have a cig 😂 (mother doesn’t like it because it will make their teeth look bad and father doesn’t like it because of his asthma).

For that little side bit, maybe a reading garden? A couple of benches and bushes, perhaps a tree hanging over for shade, maybe a birdbath? Something tranquil and private is the vibe

Have you considered putting flowers on top of the marble columns in the orangery? Also, the secluded area could be a place for potential hunting dogs...I wish we had dog houses/kennels in-game. If not then maybe an on-site graveyard for the family

I feel like that unused grass area should be a kind of little secret garden meeting place? Maybe with a woohoo bush for rendezvous with the grounds keeper? or maybe it was a little hidden den area from when the kids were young and wanted to get away from their parents and now its a secret little spot for sneaking off with a bottle of the family wine😄(or a hidden smoking spot if you are using basemental, the ashtray object would work great😄) Also if you've got room after adding dogs and horses to the family it would be fun to add a housekeeper or butler sim! I always prefer creating and adding one to the family if theres room as I find just hiring a butler service can be glitchy and you don't always get the same sims, which is annoying if you give them a makeover and incorporate them into storylines

I think a picnic spot under the tree would work, or maybe a small gazebo with climbing plants on it, you’d have to move the tree slightly forward but it could work and most houses like that have one ❤

Maybe instead of those trees in the glass-house, you could add the ones used to make nectar, like the lemon and apple trees, and add some berries with the grapes…make it a full useable nectar making greenhouse

Devon I really think you need to add a kid to this household that is completely different and way more caring than the rest of his/her family....think Matilda but rich. And that little nook where you are not sure what to do can be their little innocent outside space away from the rest of their snobby family.

As for the little space that you pointed out, how about a covered walkway or shaded grove where you have ivy overhead or roses, depending on the season, and a couple could have privacy. It would feel like they were away from it all. You could use a dark wooden trellis and plants from Debug.
