You know, your way of living is a lesson in home management. I am a little old fashioned, probably because at seventy I am a little old, but if one member of every couple would learn to live by the lessons you teach, they could replace one income. This would allow one parent to stay home, manage the home and be there for the children. Imagine the changes we would see in our society if our children were raised by the people who love them.
@countryrooster50844 жыл бұрын
Your right because that's what l did after l got married my husband and l decided that l would stay at home to care for my family. We did live and still do on one pay check, but it wasn't hard to do since l spend no money on things we don't need. I cook all our meals, l sew, paint, wallpaper, and take care of everything in the house and only shop at thrift stores and flea markets. I have learned how to restore old things and make them new again (which l love).

I love your videos and your recipes!!I I wanted to share some info on this soup base. The soup base has yeast extract in it which is an msg. Actually one of the worst ones. I am allergic to msg's and Monosodium glutamate gives me a bad headache but yeast extract can cause me to have disorientation, loss of ability to control my body, loss of vision and speech and even seizures. Also the 1st 3 ingredients are all preservatives.
@carylhalfwassen85554 жыл бұрын
I checked the ingredient list for that type of bouillon at the grocery store. You are correct about the msg. I checked the liquid broth section and those did not have msg or preservatives so I think for your situation the liquid version could be a solution.

I save my beef bones in the freezer.. when I have enough I throw em in the oven and roast them w veggies. I let it cool remove grease if here is any. then throw everything in a stock pot. w fresh veggies and water .let it cook to draw out the flavors. then I can it..

So many of us have had green bean issues this year. So we need to all be on the lookout for those loss leader on canned veggies that are going on right now.This year I have been watching for green beans and diced tomatoes. I do not use tomatoes as much but if I see them for 37 cents a can or less, I try to buy some.

Hi Tessie, Good video share.. We never added meat into our veg soup either when canning. That was always made by itself with a rich stock,, Then added to the canned vegetables when soup was made. That way we could make soup with chicken, beef, and etc flavors of choice... It was also the way our Brunswick stew was made.. Vegs of choice and the meats.. But, I see a lot of people make it together with the meat added at the same time.. It isn't a right or wrong way, more a choice of preference. You are going to enjoy some great soup later on.. I miss a lot of those wonderful things since I only cook for one these days..But, the memories still bring my taste buds to salivation..LOl Thanks for the share.. Hugs.. God Bless..

Good morning Tessie. I have high BP and appreciate low salt cooking. Now that I am getting up a bit earlier I plan to view more of your videos on canning and drying. I have an All American canner, but not a food dehydrator as yet. Days are getting cooler here in New Hampshire, so I am motivated to get canning! We are going to a friends orchard in Woodstock, N.H. today to pick apples and have lunch. I want to can a low sugar apple pie filling. Any suggestions? Keep making these fine videos and all the best!

Tessie your soup looks yummy... When I make Freezer Dump soup! That is what we call it here .. When I am making the dump soup to pressure can. I take all Freezer veggies add Potato's put in a lg bowl season them then in a pan I will mix up the broth from paste weather it be pork chicken or beef .. after it is formed into stock I add to the bowl of veggies then mix well , Then fill my jars. Kinda cuts out a step. Cause the soups cook in the pressure caner. I learned a lot of canning soups & stuff when I worked at a Cannery for a summer when I was young.. I loved it.. Yet I know what goes into those cans of stuff you buy at the stores.. Make your own... You know what is in there... lol Big hugs my friend.. :)

Your soup looks wonderful. That is my next project. I just canned 18 qts. of beef broth. I have an agreement with the local butcher who processes local livestock. He gives me wonderful stock bones that are fresh the day I pick them up. The beef is grass fed and pasture raised......it is wonderful. I a a very good cook and baker, so he gets to choose what he wants me to cook for him. A win win for everyone. Thank you for another great video! I always get such good ideas when I watch you (and I watch you daily! lol). I love my Presto canner and, yes, while I would love to have an All-American, the Presto serves my purposes very well. I will be making your canned mushroom recipe tomorrow (Aldi's had mushrooms for .39 today - I took the only 9 packs they had left!) and also doing 20 lbs of ground beef from my Zaycon order. Plus, watermelon pickles are curing and will be ready to process on Thursday (this is an experiment for me and since I normally toss the rinds, I figured I didn't have much to lose except my time and a few ingredients). So, yes, I do love my Presto canner! Thanks again ~ blessings to you!

I my case l have low blood pressure so my cardiologist told me l have to add salt to my food. It has been very hard doing it. Since it took me years to not do it when l use to do it just for the reason you stated. I was at McDonalds once adding several salt packets to my fries, when this lady sitting at a table next to popped off at me for doing it. I calmly told her “ you know not everyone has high blood pressure there are people like me who are at the opposite end. Plus my doctor told me to add it, so before you speak out again at a total strangers. I would suggest you kept it to yourself. And may you have a pleasant day. Back then l was actually pretty shy and never stool up for myself, so it surprised me that l actually spoke up.

All of your points are valid. Americans in general use way too much salt. I also agree with you on using Himalayan pink salt. That is my salt of choice as well. HOWEVER! Iodine is a requirement in our bodies, and most people don’t get enough. So, the use of plain, white iodized salt should not be overlooked or abandoned.
