I know that they are really sweet and gentle but I guess some people don’t want to have to deal with the loss only a couple of years after they get it ( I don’t know much about dogs and their life spans)

Adopting a senior dog is great, but it can be extremely emotionally draining and probably isn't the right move for Soph if her mental health isn't great right now.
@gracicles4 жыл бұрын
A M a senior dog doesn’t necessarily mean it’s draining, your point is very valid in some cases, but I don’t want to encourage people to opt for a younger dog. Our family adopted a dog when she was 5, which is often considered an undesirable age, but she lived until she was 21, and she was very healthy right up until the end. It’s like people, every dog is different.

I'm feeling the exact same mentally. I think everyone was expecting everything with covid to at least be better after the summer and how hard lockdown was but we all did it for the good of people's health. I think the fact that we're now being told that things are getting worse, is just a big kick in the teeth for everyone, and is making everyone wonder if this will ever end. On top of the colder/horrible weather, no wonder we all feel down. The nightmares etc will be your body's way of trying to cope with stress and channel it into different things. All we can do is take each day as it comes and focus on what WE can control within our own lives, and that's not selfish to do that. Hope you feel better soon :)

dear the girl who has recently lost someone or anyone else who has (if you even see this) I have lost a few people who were extremely close to me and i too lost someone just days before we were put into lock down so ik how hard it is to morn without you family around but jus know you'll get through it and as much as soph is right is saying that you should do stuff to take your mind off it, you still need to come to terms with what has happened or i could effect you mental health even more. Letting your emotions out at a time when your at your most vulnerable is very important your could do it with the family members in your house hold, with friends or even just write it down. i have to say something that really helped me is talking about all the funny memories i had of my loved ones, for example my dad passed away ten years ago so i was even younger and when he did we had a family diary where we all wrote even the shortest memories we had of him. or even just random thoughts or dreams we had and even to this day when there's a special event like a birthday or something we always end up having a fun convo about the stuff my dad used to do. Not having all your family with you will hit hard but there's always ways to talk to them or even just your friends. its not something that will pass by easily, even years later you'll notice little things that will remind you of them and scenarios where you could just imagine what they would be like if they were there with you but it will make you a stronger person. you have to make sure to talk and not push people away cuz that's what i did for years and till this day i don't have a proper relationship with some of the people in my family so please make sure u find a balance because you need to cry, you need to laugh and you also need to distract and pamper yourself but please take into account what ive said cuz times are already extremely tough on everyone mentally and having to go through something like you are is simply be too much so please take care of your self and don't be hard on yourself and most importantly DON'T BLAME YOURSELF.

I moved out of my parent's home a month ago and it was so difficult at first, because I had and still have a great relationship with them and I felt like I was leaving them behind. I felt guilty for leaving my mom alone (my dad works most of the day) and I just wanted to be back in my room. And yes, I did feel like no one talks about feeling like this when you move out on your own. Everyone else seemed happy and excited, and all I could feel was sadness and guilt. So hearing you talk about it made me feel understood, and now I still feel weird when I leave them back at home, but I don't cry anymore which is a progress. Thank you for keeping it real, and no, it is not silly, I think it's just not spoken about because moving out on your own/with you partner is considered goals..

Dealing with mental illness and the loss of a family member: whew. I've suffered from depression and other stuff for years and five months and one day ago I lost my dad to covid. It's so hard, but one thing my mom said is very true: everyone will go through this or already has gone through this and they managed it somehow. We will too. We are not alone with this, even though it's so damn horrible. We live to honor our loved ones, at least I like to think that. To everyone who is in a similar situation reading this: If you haven't already, reach out for help if you're struggling. As I said, we are not alone with this and we don't have to face this alone. I wish all of you the best and lots of love.

I’ve been suffering with extreme depression and anxiety since I was 10, it was really bad at 13 and I’m 19 now and still on antidepressants My mum had a stroke in jan, we found out my sibling has a brain tumour in July and they’re gonna start chemo and I think it’s all just hit me now The past 2 days I’ve been so low and the first part of that video means a lot to me and idk why I think i really needed it🥺 Thankyou Soph🥺💛

Soph, thank you for the positivity and realness today, I definitely needed it! I completely feel the second wave of pandemic mental health issues. It’s so crazy that we’re still experiencing changes in our reactions to the pandemic. Hope you feel better! Love ya 😘

Made me cry when you were talking to the girl that had lost a family member!!! I just lost s family member and am still trying to process that as well as struggling with my mental health and also trying to work, I'm a dementia carer and it is the best job but is so hard sometimes and losing a family member makes it's so much harder. I just want to say tho, watching your videos and hearing you talk about you own mental health really makes me feel not so alone !! Thank you so much

I'm so glad to hear your doing okay mentally I clicked on this video as I'm feeling anxious, down and just unmotivated and meh this week, maybe its the gloomy British weather 🙈 I've decided I'm going to spend the day just chilling in bed with my candle on because it's cold and I feel like I just been to relax 😊 sending lots of love 🥰

I think adopting a rescue would be marvelous for you and your mental health❤️. My husband travels for work, so it’s nice to have a furry friend around. Dogs and cats are very calming. All they want is to be loved.

We just rescued a dog about 2 and a half weeks ago, a gorgeous 2 year old Saluki named Shy, as like you I am at home all the time working, highly recommend rescuing. And we have all fallen in love with her, can't imagine the house without her in it now.

I got one of my dogs from dogs trust. They were Fantastic at helping find a dog suitable for your life style and also your house. They make sure the dog likes you and vice versa. I would 100% recommend xx
