As we're now officially in autumn, Keith is busy in the garden, and I have been busy in the grow room.

All the best with your treatment. Interesting video , love hearing your thought process of how you care for each individual orchid. Mine have struggled with this years odd weather plus l’ve been distracted by other issues. Such is life.

Lovely surprise to see the video, did enjoy it. Take good care, don’t overdo it after treatment.x

Orchids are remarkably resilient. True, some of mine are still recovering from my month in hospital, during which time Ruth had to make it up as she went along, but I lost very few and most are doing fine.

Hello! I’m sorry you are being treated for cancer! I’ll be praying for you! My moth orchid which bloomed twice in six months was doing really well. But last year the leaves got too hot and yellowed. Then it grew two new leaves so I decided to cut the old leaves off because they were dying. It has grown lots of roots that are still green. I Don’t keep it in water or soil. I water it every couple weeks but since I cut the old leaves off the two new leaves are very limp, so I watered them quite well and now are sitting on the windowsill. I don’t have a special place for My orchids. I just try to keep the humidity by placing other plants with water around them. And maybe a jar of water next to them. Could the orchid be in shock from cutting the leaves off? I really enjoy the way you speak about your orchids and the different ways that you take care of them. Thank you.

Hi Theresa, thank you for your kind words. They always recommend you let leaves dieback naturally (unless they are diseased or unsightly). Orchids can sulk, so perhaps your orchid isn't in shock it's just sulking. The other day one of my phalaenopsis leaves dropped off, I couldn't understand why, but the plant itself looks healthy, so I'll just keep my eye on it.
