The problem is with KZbin's 30 fps cap. These old systems usually cap at 60, which causes videos to look odd when there is flickering going on. If you were to play the actual games, you would see the rapid flickering gives it a somewhat transparent effect.

Remember that even though the Game Gear is 8-Bit, it had more color palettes than even the Sega Genesis and Sega Master System. GG color palette had over 4000 colors whereas Sega Genesis could only produced 512 colors. This is why Game Gear games could never display properly on a Sega Genesis. You could run GG games on it sure but then all the colors would get mess up.

The music of the Sega CD version of Fatal Fury Special sounds entirely like the Neo Geo version. I think the music would be better if they have a remixed CD audio soundtrack.

No, the Mega CD version used the Neo Geo OST (which is sad : /)
@TheKayliedGamerChannel-YouTube8 жыл бұрын
Terry Nashter Nah, the Neo's chip music is the original and best imo. Some times CD arranged tracks remixes or remasters are good but imo its sad you feel they are better. The NeoGeo had much better chip sound hardware than the MegaDrive and without the CD the soundtrack could have been much worse lol
@Ai-fj1dc8 жыл бұрын
The Kaylied Gamer Neo-Geo was MIDI format just like Mega Drive / Genesis Plus Yamaha made the sound chips of both systems, it's just the Neo Geo one having a more powerful one (and Fatal Fury 2 didn't sound bad on MD) The Mega CD version of Fatal Fury Special used the Neo Geo OST instead of a true CD quality AST, and trust me, it would have been better (The Last Blade I & II's OSTs sounded quite weird on Neo Geo, but the Neo Geo CD's ASTs sounded absolutely beautiful)
@TheKayliedGamerChannel-YouTube8 жыл бұрын
Terry Nashter Still prefer the Original chip music on all consoles tbh - red book CD tracks may sound nice but they feel 'overblown' in many games imo. But if you prefer or like arranged game sound tracks then good for you - its just the same lol.

There were at least three very different D-pad designs for the Lynx, at least one of which is very much like the NES/Game Boy D-Pad and works well at least for the homebrew Mortal Kombat port, but yes the others aren't great. You don't seriously believe the reason the Lynx didn't get any fighting games was because of its D-pad though, do you? The Lynx had no Japanese developers at all, so of course it wasn't getting anything from Capcom or SNK. So what else other than the D-Pad makes you consider the system to be garbage?

In older consoles it wasn't easy to do transparencies. So to counter this the developers would create shadowing effects with a high flicker rate. because the recording software is out of sync with the shadows You get this glitchy appearance.It is a result of the recording software being out of sync with the game. And it is impossible to sync them up without recording twice the speed of the emulation to make it appear normal.

Genesis version was better than the snes, more intense music, vivid colors and especially the ability to make better combos thanks to the faster processor of the genesis you can make a move inside another move... which was not possible with the slow porcesador the snes. besides that the sound of the SNES version sounds like was inside a cardboard box.

I have a hard time pulling off simple moves from Mai in the Genesis version, yet little to no issues on the SNES and PS2 versions I own. I have the GB version, it's not bad at all really, just shrunk down sprites to fit the screen, plays decently. I do like the Genesis version, but I don't own a copy of it, just the SNES, PS2, and GB versions for now. Not sure why I have issues pulling off moves in the Genny one, and no problem with the SNES versions, even in emulation using the same pad. The first game I could understand, but not a sequel for Genesis that was highly improved over the original (both SNES and Genesis versions were miles ahead of the original FF).

The x68000 wast best if you look at price for quality. The Neogeo being the original is obviously the perfect version but at the time this game would have cost over 250$ for that system. It's a shame the Japanese public didn't realize that the x68000 is based on a MOTOROLA CPU, which is not Japanese at all. I believe that if Japanese software manufacturers were less racist during the 80's and 90's then some of the best versions of games at the time would have been on the likes of the Amiga, A1200 or CD32. Instead the likes of Capcom only worked on Japanese console ports. When they allowed non-Japanese system version to be made they only released the graphics and sound and left it entirely up to the foreign developers such as "US Gold" (for example) to program the game engine. Thus an inferior version was released for non-Japanese systems, thus people got the impression that Japanese systems were better , thus the Japanese console makers made more money and or sales and thus the software devs also made more money as well as boosting the economy for Japan.
@gargonovich9 жыл бұрын
AzumiRM With its RAM and video specs, the X68000 got the best ports because it mopped the floor with the Amiga, and it especially got the best ports of Capcom games because the X68000 was the development machine for CPS and CPS2 arcade games. Japanese computers at the time were simply better than Western computers, especially comparing stock hardware.
@gargonovich9 жыл бұрын
I would say there was still a gulf, although you are correct in saying that AGA did a lot to bridge the gap. But, the X68000 series video processors are built pretty much specifically for arcade gaming, whereas a lot of the AGA's benefits are in higher colour modes for photo editing and such. We're also comparing a blitter-based display engine in the AGA against a traditional (albeit highly advanced) sprite and tilemap based display in the X68000. The memory structure of both machines is very different as well, with the X68K being more compartmentalized and less flexible, but also less bottlenecked. What I would say is that the Amiga certainly has a more flexible graphics chip, which is why we see so many impressive demos for it, but the X68000 series has a very fast, very powerful but not very flexible graphics system (discrete memory, tilemaps, sprites, etc.) You can see this when the X68000 is asked to do something unusual, like 3D. The later Amigas kill the X68000 in 3D, but 2D is another story. The big thing though, is that the X68000's graphics system is how almost all arcade systems worked at the time, so the ports were better because it was super easy to just plug the games into the already similar X68000 and optimize from there. An Amiga port would necessitate a complete rewrite due to the wildly different graphics architecture. If you had a year or even less to pump out an arcade port, the X68000 is going to have a serious edge there. In period appropriate gaming, I would still say that the X68000 beats the AGA Amiga. What I've seen on both platforms just leads me to believe that the X68000 was better. The Amiga is probably a better COMPUTER, but until the Atari Jaguar or maybe even the Sega Saturn, nothing crushed 2D games like an X68000. At least they're both better than the ST. We can agree on that, right?

Ironically, if you had the PAL version of FFSp, this wasn't the case, as they used a smaller cart (either 16meg vs 24meg or 24meg vs 32meg, can't remember exactly) and as a result animation was missing vs PAL FF2/NTSC FFSp and characters were missing too (inc. Big Bear, to mention just one). The horrible music remained though. No 'losses' made in that area. By contrast, I was really disappointed with it vs (contrary to your opinion) what I thought was a solid effort with FF2 w/better music...

It even had zooming and scaling, see how Jubei took out his shoes in FF2, it flies into the screen just before the fight like the arcade version. You don't see that on Genesis. The PC Engine couldn't even run these games on a regular console requiring a disc add-on for reliability on both versions and even so still missing a few frames.
