Mappy needs more love in general. This is a really amazing game. The fact this game is not as popular as other Arcade games like Dig Dug, Pacman, and Galaga boggles my mind, even to this day. Heck, in the Namco Museum compilations, I spend more time playing Mappy much, much more than playing Pac-Man because I find Mappy more fun and enjoyable.

I played the Famicom (NES) version in my childhood (through a Famiclone), it was one of my favorite games, there's a lot of strategy in this game, once you know how the springs and the cats works. Now, seeing all this version, the Famicom version seens to be the most accurate version to the original Arcade version, i can't say if the Playstation version is an actual remake for the system, or just a emulator running the arcade version.

Because the GBA is just a direct, low-quality port of the NES version.
@oofer__5 жыл бұрын
CloudySkies17695 I know, that version just feels like a port of Mappy on the GBC, it feels NOTHING like a regular ol´ gba game. The music is bad, the graphics are bad, just everything except the GBA has a taller screen.

GBA often sounded worse than Gameboy. Just a fact of life
@carmenherrera88127 жыл бұрын
I think it's mainly the video quality's fault or emulation issues. When you play the actual GBA cartridge of Mappy, it looks and sound better than in this video. The GBA version of Mappy is basically a Famicom version ported to the GBA as part as a Famicom mini series. There was a time when NES games are ported to the GBA, and Mappy is one of those games that's picked to port over to GBA(The NES/Famicom version of course) as the Famicom mini series. It's only released in Japan though. I heard they port NES/Famicom games to the GBA to celebrate NES/Famicom's anniversary at the time.

I know it wasnt on here, but I played the arcade version, and the version on the Ms. Pac Man Plug and play thing. between those two, I like the Plug and mPlay version better, if only for the sound being revamped. For example in the arcade, the long sustained notes are just very short ones. It makes it seem like that was only that way because of hardware limitations (and i dont know if thats the case, so please correct me). In the plug and play version, this is changed to one long note. I think it sounds much better than what any other version has in terms of sound.

First of all let me say that I love all of your "Let's Compare" videos. I've always been obsessed with the different ports of games I like and how unique a lot of them are to their specific platform. I especially favor this one on account that you included some really obscure ports like the FM7, NEC 8801 and the various Sharp computers. I love how, on the Sharp X68000 version the computer was remade from the TRS-80 looking computer icon to Sharp's Duel Tower design.
@carmenherrera88127 жыл бұрын
I love Mappy! :) It's my favorite arcade game of all time! Out of all the versions of Mappy is shown in this video, the only versions of Mappy I played are the original Arcade version, Famicom/NES version, and Game Gear version. My favorite version of Mappy is no doubt the original Arcade version(Arcade version usually is the best version in these kinds of games), and my second favorite version is the Famicom version. I like the Game Gear version of Mappy, it's still really fun, however, what bothers me about that version is the screen crunch and the weird AI of the Meowky gang in that port, but I still have a really good time with it(What's sweet, is it gives new really good levels). Great video. I would've love to see what an Atari 2600 version of Mappy could've look like, but it doesn't exist unfortunately :(

God I love this game. Only have it on Namco Museum DS, and i lost that game so I can't play it unless I go to the arcade (which is a little ways away). Highest level I've gotten is 12, but I can only get up to 8 at the arcade lol. I kind of want to learn the song on piano because of how good the tune is. At this point, I'm pretty sure my sister is annoyed with me whistling it all the time. But it really is a great song. This has been my favorite arcade game for a good couple years now (next to Dig Dug). It's cool to see it's been ported to other systems in its life.

Monkeymanlol Official, Good Job with those ratings, except you misspelled "similar" as similarr, and "things" as tings. the Game Boy Advance version had a widescreen view that all the sprites had to be sized down. also, the Game Boy Advance does not have high quality audio, so the music is worse as well. And the NES version was only released for the Famicom (Japanese version of NES) Namco Museum (PSX):Very Close to the Arcade version it was emulated! 10/10 Sharp 68000: Looks 16-Bit, It deserves an 8/10. wait if you're still here I saw "Mappī?" in the description and ... uh, katakana is used for foreign names and loanwords, and for some reason video game characters often have "foreign" names (マリオ Mario, ガノンドロフ Ganondorofu -> Ganondorf), so マッピー (Mappi, but pronounced like Italian and the "i" is long) is probably best translated as Mappy, even in a literal sense (or at least you can get rid of the question mark lol).
