LET'S CONSTRUCT A CONCEPT ALBUM: Neon Genesis Evangelion

Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, Asia All those bands are perfect to make a eva themed concept Two songs by the band 'Yes: Machine Messiah (1980) would be the introduction and The Gates Of Delirium (1974) would be a great finale

Your early reasons are exactly why I have an intense hatred toward Neon Genesis Evangelion. The ending was so abysmal they had to follow it up with several films. RahXephon will always be its superior to me.

I dunno man. I actually like the fact that you can interpret the original show however you want with regards to the ending. Whenever I rewatch the series now, I watch all the episodes, with the exception of the last two, and then skip straight to End Of Evangelion. From my personal viewpoint, it makes the story feel more complete and it gives it a rather bittersweet conclusion that leaves things up to imagination and keeps discussion of the show going. That's my interpretation of the story, but, I know of plenty other people who defend those last two episodes right to the end. I have to say that EVA is one of those few shows that I would forgive for it's 'unique' ending and that's not something I tend to do very often. Even if you're not a fan of the story or characters, Anno's directing and visual style is certainly something to be respected and admired. Also the animation holds up extremely well in comparison to a lot of other shows that came out at the time. The Rebuild films are meant to be reboots. While I love them (even the third movie that didn't sit well with die hard fans), I don't think they can even compare to the original in storytelling despite being visually impressive. If anything, I think the Rebuild films are more there to show off what Anno's studio can pull off with regards to animation. I mean, they do a lot of short films and even music videos now. A popular example being the Me! Me! Me! music video that was popular a few years back. As for RahXephon, I got around eight episodes in before having to put it on indefinite hold. The pacing was way too slow for me when it comes to a story about some kind of apocalyptic event and the overall animation and directing didn't really grab my attention. The only things I really like about it (so far) is the art style and the soundtrack. Especially the opening theme. Any 90s anime theme performed by Sakamoto Maaya is a definite win in my honest opinion. I might return to watching RahXephon once I've caught up with most of this year's seasonal shows since the end of the year is approaching and I need to get my list ready for next year's top 10 anime of 2018 video. But, as of right now, I cannot say I found it to be very engaging or gripping. My opinion might change over time as I watch more slow paced shows like Haibane Renmei or Mushishi (which I finished a few months back).

Evangelion is definitely one of my favorite anime of all times. Not to mention the Evangelions themselves look like something out of Iron Maiden's Somewhere in Time album.

I have only heard snippets of songs by Judas Iscariot and Watain but I agree, black metal needs to be a feature of the overall sound and feel of the album 👍
