Categorically one of the most iconic makeup looks of the 80s, if not of all time, and one of my absolute favourites. As always you’ve taught me so much about the precision of the technique and the subtle nuances of the aesthetic, and executed it to absolute perfection. I suppose it doesn’t hurt that your glacial beauty and infuriatingly good bone structure are a rather good canvas to start from. Bravo, as usual.

Happy New Year, Sam. Gorgeous!!!!!! I LOVE the eighties make-up, especially the early eighties, the punk- and new romantics make-up. That video of you doing Siouxsie Sioux's make-up was the first video of you I watched. Could you do that one again, please? Eventhough I am 58 years old, I still wear that kind of make-up (luckily I do not look like 58 yet🤭), so I love to see videos of that era.

When I saw the thumbnail I instantly thought of the girls in the Robert Palmer Addicted to Love video. It really took me back to my teens. It was also so lovely to have longer form content from you. I could honestly watch you for hours. LOVED this tutorial so much! Btw, how was the party and the music? Did you have a good old boogie? How were everyone elses looks? You having lots of fun with a look is always watchable. Really took me back to 80s photoshoots and yep our makeup artists were amazing! Lots of experimentation with much more limited product! Used to have a fantastic YSL block kohl and guerlain liquid liner. When Shiseido came out with pre makeup cream it was a game changer for texture (although original - and amazing spack filler- formula disappeared pretty quickly and was replaced with something softer and less effective).

What a pleasure to watch this video. You look soooo beautiful and I have a vivid remembrance of how I used to do my makeup in the 80's. It was not so easy 😂 no eye brushes at all, just those little sponges with your eyeshadow (single eyeshadow, no palettes), no prebase for the eyes, no highlighter, just ONE blush. No such many brands as today, I think all of my makeup was from Margaret Astor, Max Factor and Rimmel 😂 It did not matter, we were young and happy, but I'd wish to have a little makeup back to the future. Nobody would believe me!

I think "Addicted To Love" was the first time I was influenced by pop culture to replicate a look. I remember I was around 5 or 6 when I saw a bit of the video, thinking the ladies had such a cool look, and searching for the reddest lipstick I could find in my stackable kid lipsticks so I could try to do the look on myself. Then, I stood in front of the mirror making fashion faces. 😂 I think you more than did this one justice and it looks stunning on you. Thank you for sharing and Happy New Year! 😊

Love love this look. I, too, remember this video and look and how impactful it was. A little black dress never looked so good. 1 question. I would love to know what you bring with you for touch-ups. Although I love purses, I hate to carry them or to much at parties. Wondering if you always carry lip stick..nothing..everything with you😊 Your channel is the best so enjoy your work. Cheers 🎉
@samchapmanmakeup3 күн бұрын
Not much. The layering and powdering means that this makeup isn’t moving at all. I took a tiny mirror. The Chanel lip product and a concealer that I didn’t need to use at all.

I watch Scrooged every Christmas and when you were talking about the "Drag" look, I immediately thought of Karen Allen with the exaggerated 80s makeup in Frank's future dream scene of Claire. It took plenty to make Allen look garish and she has the no makeup look for the whole film so I think it makes it more ghoulish but I can get it took a skilled make-up artist to just take it over the edge to contrast her character.

Omg! Your makeup is AMAZING!!! 🤩 You look so beautiful. You remind me of the models in that 1989 Pepsi's tv ad with Robert Palmer "simply irresistible". I was a very young girl, but that makeup was so striking the image was burned into my memory 😍 I was amazed how they made them all look like clones lol I've always been mesmerized by colorful makeup. "No makeup makeup", natural and neutral.. boooooring! 🥱😴🤣🤣 I agree about the cake eyeliner. I wish there were good drugstore options as before.
