Really love those vik guitar tops. Not really into the Barlow shapes but I have seen some amazing work from smp guitars and also the aristides tele looks amazing along with their new headless model.

Yeah. I still want a Vik, and have a bit of an Aristides bug right now. Barlow is different but agree..the shape is difficult. The 060 is still my favorite of the Aristides guitars, but I don't really know what specs I'd want.

I think I know most of the people that quickly grab the Vik 6 strings as soon as they come up ^^ Barlow guy re-lists his guitars once he sells them as "contact me first", so basically just a gallery to commission a new custom build. So the Bog Oak one was sold but returned to Barlow and went back up on his Reverb Shop as a Sale and it went in < 1 day.

At 2500 they almost have me on the sapele one. Maybe 2k :P And yeah, when the Vik 6's do come up, they're expensive and go quick. The timing just hasn't aligned for me. I have to have the money, desire, and availability at the same time. Maybe if you'd stop buying them all up haha.

Yeah I think you're getting a lot for the money at $1200ish. I don't know if I'd want to pay $2k or whatever it was retail but I think it's pretty fair on the used market, considering the specs.

Gamers play guitar too and might love some of these, with their colors, it kind of makes sense. I’m strangely traditional and literally scared of some of the crazy wood syndromes. Then again... budget dictates, dude abides.

Oh and that Pink Snakeskin Jackson is the exact finish I’m looking for, exactly, but the neck is maple back and unfinished. Friend of mine owned it years and years ago. One day.

I guess I don't really understand what Gibson Memphis is. A different shop, but not Gibson's USA shop or Custom shop? I'll have to do some reading.

The Guitar Pit honestly man I’m not too too familiar with Gibson. I believe Gibson Memphis is a place they had guitars built for awhile before it was moved to Nashville? I think it was just like custom level guitars. I guess they are rarer/worth more maybe since no more Memphis models

13:15 I just got over a sss desire. It started with a good experience on a ss player series tele and I figured, 'hey if this is good an american pro strat will be killer'.... FALSE. Pickups were phenomenal, but there were so many problems with it that I'm amazed it made it out of the factory. Glue in the truss rod made it unusable, Pick guard didn't sit flush, and the frets, oh man were they bad. I counted 7 high frets just running my rocker between the strings so I stripped the strings off and looked closer. Almost half the frets had a noticeable flat spot on them from a failed attempt at leveling and they didn't even bother to crown them when they were done. A $1450 american made flagship guitar from a revered company and it was garbage. It taught me a few things though: 1. Don't buy american fender unless it's custom shop. 2. I hated the bridge position single so much that I'll never get another sss strat. 3. Kiesel Delos is THE American strat to buy in that mid to upper price point tier.

Wow, brutal. I had pretty good luck with my last Fender USA model but it wasn't super inspiring. Just kind of a normal strat. I ended up keeping my older MIJ one cause it felt a little better. The bridge position was better on the MIJ as well. But agreed, it's custom shop or bust, for a Fender in my future. So for now, bust. haha.

@@TheGuitarPit That's pretty telling that a MIJ strat just felt better than an american production model. I'd bet the silver sky would tickle your fancy. The fretboard is too round for me though.

The USA Abasi’s are made by Grover Jackson and nobody knows what the difference between a US 6 and a US Spartan 6

Interesting. I think they posted one with the same carbon fiber top as my Acacia. I'm sure Grover is making a nice guitar but I don't think I'm feeling that price. Cool shape though, I guess.
