I'm sorry this took too long to get uploaded. I had to finish and record (for an upcoming video) Final Fantasy 7 Remake before my PSN expired. Wasn't easy when you're about half way done with the game and only a few days left to beat it.
But with that out of the way, AnthonyM The Gamer Artist, Gingaman Prime, Ping, and myself talk about the Smash Bros. version of Nicktoons, what we like, what we're worried about, the entire list of nicktoons they could pull from and who we hope to see. Enjoy. :)

One move that caught my eye that I haven't seen anyone else bring up is SpongeBob's recovery. It's similar to K. Rool's recovery, but it's also a direct callback to the pilot episode in which SpongeBob had a hydrodynamic spatula he could hover around with. That one made me smile.

Couple months later and Garfield is our first released DLC character for this game! For those who haven’t played yet, I recommend giving NASB a spin. It’s a very quick and combo-heavy platform fighter, and while the lack of voice acting is a thing, the gameplay is definitely solid.

Jimmy I'm fine with getting in as he can be a Nickelodeon-esque fusion between Fox and Diddy, but if they add in Hugh simply because of that one Yu-Gi-Oh themed meme and not because of him being a unique character then I'll be annoyed as I don't like meme characters that much, it's the reason why I'm not to excited about Nigel Thornberry getting in because it feels like the only reason why they put him was because of the "Smashing" meme. Again I play these type of games because I want to play a awesome fighting game, not for memes. if you're a fan of meme characters go right ahead I'm not saying you're wrong for liking them they're just not my type of character.

The Glitch Techs could work as characters, and their stage would be their headquarters, Hinobi Tech. Glitches may run amok and be stage hazards. You could see the other glitch techs as background elements and maybe they'll be the ones dealing with the stage hazards, so Five & Miko can deal with the "bigger" glitch, which are the cartoon characters.

Concerning Fanboy and Chum Chum I see them in the same vein as Duck Hunt Dog in Smash 4, and Smash Ultimate I hate I don't want them in the game but if they get in I won't complain as it means I can beat the ever-loving crap out of them.

You know even though you guys admitted upfront to not being familiar with some of them, I'm just glad to see someone on KZbin acknowledge the Nicktoons past 2010 in these discussions. Everywhere I've been people seem to exclusively talk about shows from the 90s and 2000s. Also even though I'm not a fan of Breadwinners, I do think there's enough material there to make a good moveset.

The thing with ren stimpy is that yes John K was incredibly important to the show and he basically created it, but he wasn't the only dude who made it. Bob camp was the dude who created the majority of the show, and even co created some of the episodes with spumko entertainment.

I feel most people’s main problem with Loud House is it is a show so recent it’s shunned immidiately by people in their mid 20s. Overall the show ranges from meh to good, and still managed to rival Spongebob of all nicktoons. It shows it is on the same level of success. The characters are solid on their own right design and character wise (it’s best to ignore the times they get done dirty by bad writing just like Spongebob and his friends). I’d honestly be fine with it having around the same amount of characters as Spongebob.

If you like the show, you like the show. But I have a lot of issues with it and I'm not the only one. The show's ratings have been going down hill drastically since season 4. Streaming hurts it sure but to go from 1.2 million views to .55 million views is a sure sign of decline. I've seen a number of people say they dropped out of the show or lost interest. Let's take the episode "A Fridge To Far" as I have 2 issues here. Once the plot shows up you knew how it was going to end with the dad impressing the guy with his own cooking. And if you look at the scene where they are all together at the end notice how no one moves or blinks until they all do. There was also this commercial for the Casagrandes where Ronnie Anne is in the background looking at her brother and their cousin was about to smack him with a newspaper and then gets hit by a shoe sending him off screen, in that scene Ronnie Anne never moved her eyes or reacted to what happened to what she was seeing. Different show sure, but it's the same studio. The animation style or movement isn't something I'm fond of either as there is no subtle movement, it's all fast paced. They quickly move their arms into a position and hold it and you can really see that they were trying to bring a comic book to life and not in a way like Peanuts or Garfield. I don't think I have to bring up "No Such Luck". The one time they actually do something with the story, makes you wish they played it safe instead. And how many times does the show rely on the tactic of "We jumped to conclusions"? They use this situation in so many episodes that as soon as I read a synopsis, I can almost always say "it's another one of those episodes isn't it?". And now its getting to the point where Lincoln is basically getting into trouble that he should have too much common sense to know not to get into. But this show brings down every characters common sense for the sake of the plot so I shouldn't be surprised. I liked it when he was helping out his sisters or working together with his sisters, it made him look like a good brother. Him on his own (or with Clyde and his friends) just makes him look like a trouble maker. The show had some good character developments, I won't take that away from the show such as Lola in 3 episodes and Lori with "Garage Banned" and "Selfie Improvement" which thanks to those episodes I can say they are some of my favorite sisters in the show. Sadly some characters still feel like they need to learn a lesson and Lynn Jr is still one of those characters. She got a little with a few episodes but there are times where she still doesn't learn a lesson, I think the episode where they go to a Hockey game and she takes her superstitions too far and if I remember correctly she doesn't learn a lesson about it. A lot of the humor became about torture (characters getting hurt just for the sake of a laugh) that feels unjustified and toilet humor. They need a quick joke? Just say the word "butt". I find both forms of humor to be very low points of humor as it feels like you'll grow out of them within a few years and is a "quick fix" to put in a joke when you can't think of anything else. I really started to dislike what the show was becoming after it felt like it was becoming mass produced and by that I mean they were making too many episodes too quickly, were contradicting earlier episodes and retconning things, (A Tale of two Tables vs. Fed Up, which one is cannon? Probably Fed Up, along with Lincoln and Ronnie Anne's relationship of secret boyfriend/girlfriend to just best friends), basically they didn't take the time to try and make things special, to try and do something unique with the show. They aged everyone up but it still doesn't feel enough. I just saw Gravity Falls 2 years ago and was amazed with how they did things so differently and how funny it was. This show, I can't say the same. Is it fair to compare the two shows? No, but when other shows like that exist along with The Amazing World of Gumball, both of which (Gravity Falls and Gumball) have fantastic humor and something I'll come back to years later, and I can't say the same for the Loud House. It's probably still going to get 1 or 3 more characters in the game, just get ready for people to compare it Fire Emblem in Smash.

​@@cjszero01 Don't think you needed to give such an extensive overview on why you don't like the show, but that's your opinion so fair enough. I still find it decently entertaining on my end. I think the show can still improve on its current shortcomings. If Spongebob got good again out of nowhere, any other show can. And honestly, unlike Fire Emblem, Loud House has actual character diversity with looks and how they would fight instead of just using swords and being stoic blank slate type of characters. Not to mention popularity wise FE is not even at the Top 5 (or Top 10?) most popular Nintendo franchises compared to Nick's own top franchises with LH most likely being 2nd or at least in the Top 5. But I know people will blindly still compare it to FE, guess it'll be a win for people like me that wouldn't mind seeing more or LH characters.

Spongebob got good again because the creator of the show came back and I'm willing to believe that with The Loud House filling in much of the work, Spongebob was able to take his time and be good again. The Loud House creator was fired for... things I don't want to go into here. I doubt they'll bring him back and with the head guy gone, it just feels like they have no direction and focus, which is why the show started to be less about how a large family works and more about telling stories we've heard before from other shows just with certain characters. It's not wrong to use a similar storyline, I just ask that you make it your own thing and make it special instead of... yeah. Honestly I don't think LH deserves the credit it has over other shows. Granted it's up there because of its popularity and in it's 5th season, but should it be over shows that lasted much longer and had more historical prominence to the network such as Rugrats and Fairly Oddparents? That's extremely debatable. While you're right about Fire Emblem using a very similar style over and over, that wasn't entirely what I meant. Just a franchise that while popular might get more than others should. Some franchises it's understandable why they get so many, and others you have to wonder why Zelda has less than FE despite being one of Nintendo's 3 biggest franchises. That said I'm pretty sure it'll have Lynn Jr., Luan, and Luna. Something about those 3 feel like they fit in easier than the other sisters.

Honestly I've seen other shows way worse, and personally to me LH doesn't come close, so I guess that's why I don't recall or see the negatives of some of the things you pointed out. And by me saying LH deserves more characters I meant it under the assumption classic Nicktoons and characters such as Aang, Korra, Manny, Jenny, Timmy, Jimmy, etc. Are already in and represented. I do agree it's better to have a variety of other shows get the spotlight before they decide to add more from something like Spongebob or Loud House. I'm sure Nick and the devs will balance it out. And I heavily agree that FE is over-represented in Smash (rip Zelda, DK and Kirby), but Loud House in comparison I don't think would get that far in bloating the roster. Heck, we already got Lola deconfirmed since she's in the background in the LH stage, if that means anything. Yeah those 3 seem about right, and possibly Ronnie Anne for a Casagrandes rep if they count it separate. Especially because Luan and Luna were in the previous Nick fighting games. They could re-use Luna's model from Super Brawl Universe.

@@MoonGhostDoodles Oh yeah I'll definitely agree that Nickelodeon has had worse shows than The Loud House, I couldn't even bring myself to watch Fanboy and Chum Chum or Breadwinners. I gave credit where it's due to the show such as the character development episodes and I do like the ones where he's working with his sisters rather than against them. But this is why I say I feel the show is overrated, it's no where near the worse, but it's hard for me to watch it anymore. As for the direction of the show, I'm not sure what they are doing but in terms on continuing it I don't think they'll give it up anytime soon. They own it body and soul and can do whatever they want with it. I don't think the show will be in trouble of getting canceled unless two things happen. 1.) The show actually starts costing them more money than they are making. But like I said about the animation, I don't think it costs them that much. 2.) They have more than enough shows that overshadow The Loud House. Considering their approach to "instant success only" that won't happen anytime soon either. Yeah I think we're in agreement here. Shows like Spongebob, TMNT, and maybe something like Fairly Oddparents would be understandable to have more reps than say AHHHHH Real Monsters. That's why I also think The Loud House will get more characters, I just can't say I'm looking forward to them but we'll see what they do with them. I would hope that we get shows like Angry Beavers, Chalk Zone, and Welcome to the Wayne to have some reps instead of the 9th Loud House rep, but I'm just being over dramatic with this. I don't believe every show is going to have a playable rep but characters like XJ-9, and El Tigre make way too much sense and should be added right away. As for Ronnie Anne (the character I'll say that got the most development in the show before getting her own series) I would understand her inclusion. Even if she's treated like a Loud House character I think her spin off justifies it and they might add her for other reasons.

I'm so glad this game is just disposing with the nonsense and is a 1:1 Smash clone unapologetically. PSASBR just couldn't commit 100% to either being a Smash clone or being unique and it suffered for it. I'm also grateful this game has a competent developer and actually has effort put into it (unlike the disappointing Cartoon Network game). I think you're right in that Nickelodeon All Star Brawl has potential to be the Smash game to play when you want a break from Smash itself. I don't at all expect it to be as polished as Smash. I don't think the devs have the time or budget for that. But as long as it controls well and is fun to play, that's all I want from it. When I'm playing as characters like freaking Nigel Thornberry, I want to be silly and not take it too seriously. As far as characters go, Aang was far and away my most-wanted when I first heard about this game and he's pretty much in already so there's a guaranteed sale from me right there. Anyone else after this is a bonus for me. I'm also really hyped about Catdog, Helga, and Reptar. But if I could have my way, I really want to see XJ9, Jimmy Neutron, and El Tigre. I could've sworn IGN or somebody posted on their site for this game that it will include Nick Jr characters too. No idea if there's any truth to that, but a Nick Jr rep would also be hilarious. It would have to be either Dora or Blues Clues if it happened. If they WERE going to do live action shows, I would LOVE to see Gibby from iCarly. He could even have different movesets depending on if he's wearing a shirt or not. No way would it actually happen. But man...just imagine if it actually did. I have a theory with the TMNT characters. I think the reason they haven't shown Donatello or Raphael yet is because they're going to be based on the designs for the 2012 show and Rise respectively. I think this would be an excellent way to represent multiple incarnations of the turtles instead of them all just being based on the 80's show. Having that be the only version that is represented would be weird since the 80's turtles has never aired on Nickeloden if I recall correctly. I think there are a lot of Nicktoons that might not have the best candidates for fighters, but could still be represented in the game with a stage. After all, there are some stages in Smash for franchises that don't have a playable character associated with them. I could maybe see a stage for shows like the X's or one of the game shows like Double Dare. Side note: Does anyone else remember the show Three Delivery? It was about those three teens who do kung-fu in Chinatown and there's a magic cookbook or something. It aired on Nicktoons at like 2 in the morning and had a pretty slapping intro. No way in hell would I expect this show to be represented in All Star Brawl. But if they wanted to really dig deep and do something niche, Three Delivery would be a pretty out there pick that would blow our minds. You heard it here first.

Quite a lot of things I agree with here. I do think stages based on game shows like Double Dare or Legends of the Hidden Temple would be great for stages and the obstacles write themselves. I think we said that in the previous recording but it's good to know others think it's great to have that. The Turtles could have different alts based on the other eras and designs of the turtles. The only problem I can see is that we have 3 stages and 2 of them look like they are from the 80's version specifically. The Sewer could be from any of them but unless they have a stage for the other versions it might look a bit strange. But I'm not making the rules for this game so what do I know? I'm not sure if they want to add pre-schooler stuff to game that has comical violence. Something about that just doesn't add up. Well I can't say I've heard of this show but since it didn't show up in the list of Nicktoons it might be difficult for them to get in, I know that was already a long shot but I felt I had to point that out, sorry.

Yup, it's like you said. I'm not making the rules either and we're getting Aang so I'm already sold on the game. I'll take whoever else they pick at this point. Personally, I wouldn't see much issue with different versions of the turtles being on the 80's stages. Part of the wacky appeal of Smash imo is seeing characters and locations of drastically different artstyles clashing with one another such as Solid Snake on Green Hill Zone or Isabelle on Midgar. And we don't necessarily need to have a stage to go specifically with every single character. R.O.B. and Dr. Mario don't have their own stages in Smash, after all. I think they could get away with the sewers stage representing the turtles franchise as a whole and still have different incarnations of turtles on the roster, even if the stage itself is based on the 80's cartoon specifically. I see it as like having a stage in Smash based on the original Super Mario Bros even though we have Mario characters on the roster who can fight on that stage and didn't exist at the time that game came out. The only way I could see alts based on different incarnations of TMNT working is if Raphael from Rise is not included at all. His design is so drastically different that I think it would be really hard to map moves and hitboxes meant for a smaller character onto his huge body without it looking weird. It would be pretty ballsy of the developers to put in a character from Nick Jr, but I could see it both ways. On one hand, the target audience for this game is pretty much the older fans who would probably find it funny to see Nick Jr characters kicking butt since they never do that. But on the other hand, it is admittedly similar to the Rugrats issue where there is still something inherently wrong about beating up these kinds of characters. But if there's any place they could pull the concept off, I could see it working in a cartoon fighter like this. Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of Three Delivery or anything like that and I was actually hoping you wouldn't bring it up in the video just so I could point out how obscure it is lol. I didn't even remember this show existed until I was watching this video. However, I did some research and the show was apparently made by Larry Schwarz, the same guy who did Kappa Mikey so...I'm confident this won't happen. Even if we were to get a rep from one of his shows, they would definitely go with Kappa Mikey before Three Delivery any way since that's the one people actually remember. Don't feel bad about shooting my ideas down. I've grown so tired of how serious Smash speculation has gotten that I'm not taking it seriously for this game at all. I'm just throwing out the wackiest ideas I can think of purely for the fun of it and regardless of how unrealistic some of them might be. That's what I grew to love about Smash in the first place aside from playing the game itself of course :)

i think the flinch animation is for sure a problem but as far as the animations of the moves and how they are hard to see, they can't really slow down the moves to make them more visible without sacrificing the actual integrity of the move in game as far as frame data goes.

Just gonna leave notes throughout the video as I go along - The "unlocking new moves" was deconfirmed by one of the devs, was apparently a rumor spread as true by IGN in their report of the game - The criticisms with the animations being stiff and such are pretty moot, since the devs have admitted the footage was from early in development and that the final game will look a lot better (which you can already tell from screenshots on the official website. The difference between Patrick in the trailer and on the gameplay screenshot is night and day especially). Definitely fair criticism on the trailer being too fast though - Tommy and Angelica were playable in Super Brawl Universe, a mobile fighting game, no strings attached, so I don't think they could be ruled out as far as fighters here - The devs, Ludosity, has confirmed development for this game started in March 2020, so I don't think anything over 30 characters is all that realistic

Something many people miss when it comes to the roster of this game is that Ren & Stimpy, Danny Phantom, Tommy, Chucky and Angelica (along Reptar) were on the last Nicktoons crossover game (the racing one) and the babies have been playable on previous Brawl games, meaning that they most likely shown Reptar first because is more "hype" same reasons as Powdered Toast Man probably. If anything I'll be worried about Jimmy Neutron and FOP since those were missing on the last game, also published by GameMill. While I'm not saying the roster of the kart game will translate 100% to All Star Brawl, it is a good source to have an idea on what to expect. (Both games share the same artstyle as well)

I'm pretty sure they are made by completely different developers. Having babies racing isn't exactly the same as punching a baby so...yeah. I don't think marketing would go for that. Considering they've put in some other characters and this racing and fighting have very different principles and properties and the devs are actively taking requests... I do feel that some characters will make more sense that others. I don't think Zim was in that racing game either. Honestly though it's a bit too early to tell but the fact that they even put in Oblina and Nigel Thornberry gives us hope that they'll put in a lot of the big Nicktoon stars like Jimmy and Timmy, and hopefully some characters that were made for action like XJ-9 and El Tigre will make the cut.

I’m mostly worried for the voice acting, or potential lack thereof. GameMill is publishing the game, and they also published the two Nick Kart Racers, which, while good enough games, were criticized for everyone being silent. I’m positive Tom Kenny would have loved to voice Spongebob for a kart racer. If there’s no voice acting, it won’t matter how good the game will be; the lifeblood of the characters is their voices. Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion had both recorded lines and used phrases from the shows, and Nick All Star Brawl can/should very well do the same thing. There was none in the trailer, I hope there will be in the main game. As for my five characters, they’d be Timmy Turner, Jimmy Neutron, Manny Rivera, Dudley Puppy, and Ronnie Anne Santiago.

1:05:45 This is flat out untrue. I can think of infinite examples of where characters when they are not talking are changing expression in reaction to something someone says or even just blinking. If you want to see a real example of what you said, see any episode of Family Guy. In Family Guy, if someone is not talking they don't move or even blink at all. The Loud House's animation quality is not that bad. I don't how much of The Loud House you watched, but I feel like you kind of unfairly misrepresented the show, and it just kind of irked me a bit. But most other things you said I either agree with or respect your opinion (and I love your videos, man).

I watched up to season 4. I also stopped watching Family Guy nearly a decade ago. The animation for the most part in the Loud House is like watching a character quickly get into a position. There's very little slow animation for subtly. I've just noticed in Spongebob that whenever they talk they slowly move their head up and down near the end of their sentences to keep the animation from looking staticy and stale. Yes it is true that a lot of shows somewhat have this, my favorite "The Amazing World of Gumball" does this but I can excuse it for the comedy, storytelling, and facial expressions. When it comes to the Loud House they typically tend to fall into 3 categories: Predictable, "We jumped to conclusions" and the dark places (No Such Luck). The humor also borders on Toilet humor, torture humor, and saying the word butt. It's clear the intended target audience is kids but I like cartoon shows that anyone can watch such as Gumball and Gravity Falls. If you enjoy watching The Loud House that's fine but when you start watching it after what I've said... you might start to notice these things.

I do agree that it is overrated for the most part, and I can definitely understand why a lot people don't enjoy it. I still think it's a fine show, and that you can find much worse on modern Nick. (also, Gumball and Gravity Falls are my favorite shows, too) It's just so sad to see a show that had legitimately great potential get squandered (at least partially) by corporate greed and being too quickly produced.

@@arojamthearbiter Oh I agree, The Loud House is far from the worst show Nick ever had. As for the animation problems I brought up, it is true that too many other shows are like this now. However I do want to explain 2 incidents where it was basically unforgivable. It "A Fridge too Far" at the end of the episode where the whole family is gathered none of the characters blink until they all have a look of confusion on their face. I forget how long that was but it felt like a minute or two. In an advertisement for the Casagrandes (Different show I know but it's a spin off and the same studio) it showed Bobby with his head down and one of his younger cousins get a ladder about to hit him on the head with a Newspaper I think saying "Do Better!". But then he gets knocked off screen by a shoe and Ronnie Anne is in the background looking at this, but doesn't react at all. She doesn't take a step back, she doesn't put her hands over her mouth, and her eyes don't even follow him. I know that Ollie's Pack received mixed reviews but I did notice in one episode where Ollie is trying to impress his crush but messes it up and they find a safe spot, one of his friends, Cleo, turned her head from a different position and they weren't even talking to her. Little things like that help make the characters feel alive or more human. It may cost more in animation and has started to go unnoticed, but when all the other shows are barely moving, it starts to stick out more.

@@arojamthearbiter Wait, I don't think I said that right. I didn't watch 4 seasons, I watched up to the beginning of season 4. Just wanted to be clear, though I have checked the synopsis of the newer episodes. I used to like Lincoln but lately they've tried to make it seem like he's getting himself into trouble that he should know better than to get into. I liked Ronnie Anne since she was the one that got the most character development and I liked it whenever she and Lincoln shared screen time. Though I hated the fact that they retconned their relationship from secret boyfriend and girlfriend to just best friends since they had good chemistry and it would've made for interesting plot episodes. And as for the sisters I liked Lana, Leni, Lori, and Lola (the latter two got much needed character development). That's pretty much it.
