. I am an artist from Sri Lanka. She is an art teacher by profession. After completing my schooling, I got the opportunity to enter the teaching profession. Even as a child, I had special talent for drawing. Won several state awards in children's art competitions. I was selected to pursue the degree course at the Institute of Aesthetic Studies, but I had to give up the opportunity because I got the job at the same time.
Currently, I am a trained art teacher, a graduate of Aesthetic Education and an artist. He has also received three years of training in painting from Mr. Dayananda, Senior Lecturer in the Sculpture Department of the Institute of Visual Arts Studies, Aesthetic University.
He has held a number of solo art exhibitions including the Colombo Art Gallery, Lionelvent Art Gallery, Kandy French Friendship Society Art Gallery and Kandalama Aitken Hotel. It also owns an art institute registered with the Department of Cultural Affairs named Chandrani Art Academy to educate young children.
I retired from teaching at the age of 50 to facilitate more creativity. Then I turned to mural painting for about 5 years. I was able to create murals in Warakapola Mahena Sri Sudarshanarama and the Buddha Temple in Galigamuwa Meheni Monastery. She was awarded the President's Award for being the first woman to engage in mural painting in Sri Lanka.
I have had the opportunity to participate in a number of discussions and workshops on art in Sri Lankan newspapers and television media including national television.
My works have been released on my personal website www.chandranisudumenike.com and several other websites. Through them, fans from countries like Russia, Canada, America, Singapore, and Boston, England have bought my paintings. Also, one of my paintings through the Internet was selected for an international calendar of the year 2016 of the Institute of America.
An art gallery called Chandrani Art Gallery was started in Tulhiriya for the exhibition and sale of my works. Foreigners visiting M.A.S company's training activities visited my art gallery and also bought paintings. But due to the recent corona pandemic, it had to be closed.
In the year 2020, I started two KZbin channels named "Chandrani Academy of Arts" and "Chandrani Art Studio" for art. They are already active.
I was born in the year 1959. I have already completed 43 years as an art teacher and 23 years as an artist. It is a part of my life to create using different media. Mostly I create about the life details of village women in Sri Lanka.
