It was a dark period in my life, and these videos were one of the things that helped get me through that. They became a regular part of my life for the past few years, and now they are no more. At least we still have the old episodes.

With regard to the "games aimed at females" question, I think it's a moot point because if you're a "gamer" your taste should be driven by quality rather than by marketing. For example, I'm a 37 year old woman and I hate all the media that is aimed towards my demographic but I enjoy a lot of media that is aimed at completely different demographics. I love Dark Souls and FPS games while games like "Bejewelled" and "Candy Crush" would bore me to tears so I think developers should focus on quality rather than who is our game aimed at. I whole-heartily agreed with Yahtzee that DOOM was the best game of 2016 as id software just say "fuck it!" and made a good game that could stand on it's own merits.

The normal structure of your typical Co-optional Podcast episode is discussion about games the participants of the podcast have been playing that week, the gaming news of that week, and the upcoming releases, with varying degrees of allegedly hilarious derail, which is usually concentrated in the beginning of the episode. Most of the Co-optional Podcast is about recent video games. Anime pops up either because of the sponsorship deal (see +Cynapse's comment above), or as a result of a derail. RTS pops up because it is (or was, BibleThump) a video game genre.

I think Yahtzee might be at risk of the 'Attacking the Speaker' Fallacy, wherein he states something to be invalid because of its source, as opposed to its content. While this can be claimed to be true in some cases - Champaign needing to come from Champaign; Noir films only before the 40's - this, I feel, is not true here. If a film is satirical or not is dependant on what it says. It is unlikely for good satire to come from the Big Company because, as you say, it is intended to attack the subject matter. But if there's one thing that sells tickets, its self-harm. Even in film. Especially in film.

One "game genre" I'm very much missing in our modern day AAA gaming scene is the story centered explorathon of a deep role playing game that has just as much environment exploration, stat handeling and rich story in all the nooks and crannys as it has interessting combat with a party of adventurers. Think Baldurs Gate and such.
