Hello Gary, Janis. Well, you have really come up with something different with this video - wonderful and fascinating :) I would think it would take a specialist archeologist to separate the history suggestive in these tombs, and this necropolis. So many ancient trading cultures have used Cyprus as a way point, with settlements - the Phoenicians, the Minoans, the Mycenaean`s, Greeks, Romans etc, etc.I was always acutely aware, when walking these ancient lands, of all those people through thousands of years, who felt the sun on their backs, smelt the salty air off the water and wondered what the day would bring - but slightly worried about those sails on the horizon - friends or foes ? :) Thanks ever so much - always to your usual high standards !!!!

Thanks sir; there's another historical site in Paphos I have to cover, but for now, just back from our exploits around Flanders. A lot of history, from the House of Habsburg to the Napoleonic Wars, the World Wars to the current day. All very interesting.

Very nice video! I tried to get there on the 615 bus today, but must have passed it. The grumpy driver wasn't very helpful and I ended up in Coral Bay instead! That was good in itself, but I really would like to visit this site. I'm trying again tomorrow. Would you happen to know where I need to get off the bus? I remember catching a glimpse of that sea wreck from the bus window 🤔 I did find the Agios Solomnis catacombs which I liked. I came across it by accident!

Hi, I think you want stop 349, which should be Tomb of Kings Ave. If you walk back a short direction towards the harbour you'll come towards a roundabout, turn right towards the entrance and enjoy! Hope you've also seen Nea Paphos - kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3LInJSqf96KadE - If you get the chance, you should. Looks like you have a nice day for it. Thanks for stopping by, all the best, Gary & Janis

These are not necessarily tombs. They might just as easily be houses.
@OurWorldForYou2 жыл бұрын
I think from the descriptions of the site, and the purpose of it, they we specifically created as homes for the dead, where other family members could come and pay their respects. Like homes, the greater and more impressive the building reflected your wealth and importance.
