I just did the rear evaporator on my 04 Tahoe with 325k miles yesterday.

Came here for the Tahiti content some time ago. Glad to see an update. My most recent project was to replace the cat back exhaust with a Flowmaster kit. My 05 Tahoe is purring nicely. The old one had too many heat cycles and deveolped a tick from within.

you drill a hole on the blend door actuator and put a small screw and nut to act as a stop so it doesn't go past range. Did this on my auto a/c yukon about 12 years ago ad is still working today. Mine would stay stuck on cold also.

My problem is all heat in back, cooling door stuck again. I am happy to see you doing this one! I have on my 2004 Tahoe and it is a pain when you get to the blend door housing with all those hard to get to bolts. The BLEND DOOR itself is a big problem. They keep breaking of the actuator forces them too far. I was forced to repair the door flap on shaft with all my 50 years of experience applied to one spot. I'm not sure it stayed fixed because once more all my German Sheppard gets is hot air no matter the setting. (She rides in my Rav-4 now until it's fixed again) The blend door is not available, so I bought a new plenum with the doors in it, they appear to be a better design. I'm waiting for a cooler day to do the change out because I hate the heat & humidity in north Texas.

You need the latest updated GM OE rear HVAC module #15832319. It will stop the actuators over-running, causing an error and defaulting to cold. Hard-ish to find, but not impossible. Dorman ‘make’ a replacement - but it’s junk and will cause more problems that it solves.

Check the foam seal on the door, they dry out and that allows the door to move too far.

The rear ac adjustment temperature is not working because the actual rear computer on the box that controls the motors is bad. I had this exact problem on my 03 Denali i replaced the motor once and it immediately went past its travel. I replaced the rear hvac computer module and it fixed the problem

The truth with any vehicle is fixing is usually cheaper than a car payments. Interest rates are higher and manufacturers are pushing $50 to $100k vehicles.

@michaelhanewich2452 ай бұрын
That door window pitch adjustment took me a long time to dial in to the T-tops. There is an upgrade to the door glass that hooks the base of the window and firms up the fit. This was in like 90 or so. It may be worth doing if you can even find the hooks. Your other camaro likely has them on the glass.

At least yours blows air haha. My front HVAC quit on me in the middle of winter but the rear still works. I tried swapping blower motors and had no luck until I saw how messed up the wiring is under the dash. Needless to say that project has been put on the backburner till I get the desire to deal with it.

I have changed my opinion on what makes a fun daily.....it's making power down low. Yea its awesome I can get an easy 50hp from a cam in my tahoe, but the last thing I want to is wring it out all the time to get to that extra power. Thats why I want a small turbo..... and Im keeping the factory muffler on it

Did you have any more footage of how you put the plenum stuff back together? I had a real hard time getting everything to line up and be sealed well. I had to get into the overhead to connect the duct work to the plenum. It seemed like you didn't have that problem. I also had to reset the hvac door actuators and make sure the cool/hot door worked properly.
@lsxmatt2 ай бұрын
It fought me a little but only took maybe 5 minutes of messing with. Once I had the doors lined up in the housing it all popped together easily. Those were the biggest pain.

@@lsxmatt FYI at 275K miles my AC compressor blew its guts out through the system. I took the time to flush in both directions & replace dryer and condenser. BUT I had to replace the rear TEV valve, there was no reliable way to clean it and I only wanted to do it once.

My evaporator for my AC blew out just recently in my 05. I’m turning that suburban in anyways so I’ll suffer the next couple of months with the windows down… I thought about doing the “Hack” but idk yet.

Yea the guy that did them for me reached out and I was supposed to send him the cluster. Apparently he had a bad batch of leds. I’ve been busy with everything else I never had a chance to do it.
If you haven't charged the freon yet, your motors won't operate properly because the AC pressure switch is seeing no pressure

Howdy howdy from Tucson! I Have sad news we, sold our 05 Tahoe 285k Hawkeye. He needed a new family, ours new by one and three car seats means rear row, rear row means no costco runs. We ended up buying a 2015 suburban, 'The Black Pearl', it has the 5.3l just like the Tahoe but thx to 2nd gen dod it avgs 23mpg and my record is 29.9 MPG vs our tahos at it's highest was 12.5 mpg love that car but it's heavy! I figure oil change every 2500 miles to keep the dod working smooth and unclogged.
