something I find really interesting is that, at least as far as my memories of the book go lmao, most of the problems you bring up were either already there in the book (Arya's lack of character moments, not getting the audience to care about the uncle) or were actually things that the books had and the film just actively made them worse (e.g. as I remember it, Eragon spent a lot of the time being very insecure, I remember caring way more about the Varden and their city and the exact thing you mentioned of Eragon talking to some of the freedom fighters literally happens in the book) the film really did say we are going to not take the opportunity to improve on literally anything, wow

you have gotten me really invested in this movie i've never seen based on a book i've never read. my story note, which builds on your point that galbatorix should just stand around imposingly and not really say anything, is that when they do the big reveal of his dragon, it should also be revealed that actually, the dragon is galbatorix. everyone has been addressing the dragon the whole time, and the dude was just some guy that happened to be standing around in the same room

With regards to the "Show the geography of Alagaesia" point- there's LITERALLY a map of Alagaesia on the inside cover of all four books in the series. Front AND back. AND on the first three pages. Like, you can't NOT see the map. So just... Show us the map. The one that's in the books.

And more Angela the Herbalist, because you can't go wrong with Angela. Edit: I forgot how badly that movie did Angela. Angela was so good in the books but she's so bad in the movie, wow. I loved the books but this was the first movie that truly disappointed me as a kid. It made me realize that movies could suck, so I guess that’s a good lesson to learn. Hilariously basically every problem you detail from the movie does not exist in the book. Also not sure why the movie makers completely eliminated the possibility of sequels with their stupid story changes when trying to start franchises was all the rage back then.
