The best part about this channel is the attitude towards game dev that allows it to continue and happen instead of getting caught up in making things perfect. It's so sad to see that this series stopped. Still full of valuable knowledge I bet.

Collisions have been the biggest pain of my game maker journey. I do have slopes, and sliding, and I still haven't solved edge cases where my momentum stops dead when landing on an uphill slope. I'd say you could add slopes just so people can learn more from it, I definitely think it adds a lot of dynamism to the platformer experience.

"Run your game often while adding code." It's such a pain to compile the code each time, even though it's technically short, I was thinking about maybe splurging on buying the "GML Live" extension in order to be able to make small changes and see them take effect right away without having to go through the compiler a thousand times a day. Any thoughts?

I own it, but barely use it. Some people swear up and down by it, but my experience is that it messes with things like the debugger a little too much for my liking. It's not something you bring into your project long term, but something you bring in, use it, and then remove it. Maybe it's gotten better over the years, though.
