Lambing is almost finished so we are filling in the days by starting our fly prevention work! This is a really important time of year and so many farmers get caught out with fly strike,. We do our best not to be one of them!
Hope you enjoy and feel free to ask any questions,
Cammy

ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on KZbin and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

From most southern part of Canada. Love your blogs. Am an old Oncology nurse married to an engineer from Garelochhead, and Edinburg, so was taught Scots as a second language. This was a rough year for him as emergency surgery mid December hit a glitch an he is just almost back to 90%. I am a sheep fanatic and we follow Sandi Brock who is about 150 from us... But we love to see the sheep in the fields and to hear the Scots and see the land. Yesterday watching your ferry adventures to get to Arran cheered Peter Simon up, quite a bit, as he is a West Coast Lad. He and a friend once begged a trip to Arran, on a fishing boat. Re shearing videos, would love to see more background, more behind he scenes, and more getting there, as I too am in love with the landscape. We were at Glenelg a few years ago, have travelled quit a bit in Scotland especially Badenoch, husband's last name. We were to go over for our son's wedding in England and more Scotland in 2020, but Covid changed the wedding to 10 people, so all family in Canada had front row Zoom seats. Thanks for your informative and fun clips.

Your idea of interviewing other sheep producers about their history in sheep along with the usual banter is an excellent idea. Of course I love the drone shots and any views of the countryside you can provide as you live in a beautiful part of the world. Years ago I was talking with an SA vet and he said they had a slow release worming bolus for sheep made by Merck. It was never available, here, but I thought what a great idea, to cut down the number of times you have to handle the sheep. It's really nice to see you advocate for the welfare of sheep.

Yes to all the vlog suggestions you made. I love your interviews of the farmers and joking with their kids and when the kids do their own vlog for you if they’re up to it. The best parts are your commentary with your quick wit and funny thought of what the sheep are thinking. Love the drone shots of the dogs working and sheep moving. Maybe interview willing farmers wives and show the food they make for you and the banter while drinking a cold brew. I like to watch the shearing too especially when you are competing against a buddy. But really anything you do is great don’t stress yourself out trying to make it smooth and perfect. Jumping around from scene to scene is fine if you give us a heads up telling what’s going on. Of course we’d love to see Lizzie and lil Jock as well if she is willing even to just put up a camera she doesn’t have to talk and entertain.

Yeh go with the same for shearing as the lambing vlogs. Always got great laugh from the banter between you and other lads at shearing so that's always welcome😀

Good content. Enjoy seeing all that needs to be done and it's not all riding around on the 4 wheeler. Haha. You work hard and so does Lizzy. Love seeing her smile more and having more confidence in front of the camera. Can't wait for Jock to get feet on the ground. Raise up one of the puppies to watch him. 🤣

What you call noise is music to my ears. Lambs bleating is better for my mental health than any international news. I love hearing the technical information because I used to work in biomedical research. I understand everything that you're doing and going through. I can certainly understand why you became a sheep farmer, because working in the city as a cop would make you believe that every person is a dangerous criminal. We're really nice people. You just can't see us.

I love the ideas of behind the scenes. We do white wormer and clear wormer then are going to follow with copper sulfate after those first initials. Linessa farms in Indiana does this. University of Kentucky did many studies on it. I love it because it covers all worms and last so long. You mix it yourself.

Yeah mate, the more chat with the farmers about what they are doing, how it’s going and why would be awesome. 🤘

TBH: I love watching ANY & ALL your video content. Stick with the GoPro and clip on mics, they seem to be a lot easier to use and we don't 'lose you' if you turn your head. As always, great vlog 👍🏼 👌🏼 👏🏼

We only kept a few sheep, lawnmowers. But if there were to be lambs we would trim the ewes faces, the belly around their bags and the patch under the tail. In Australia we had to be proactive before fly strike. Birth fluid etc .
