People often comment on your positive attitude, but it is really inspiring. Considering even every basic activity takes you so much work and energy, which most able-bodied people wouldn't even think of, you really do have such a good attitude and energy level in life, which is something we all sound take something from. All of us human beings need some perspective checks every once in a while.

My goodness, you are so confident as you do all these things. And it is amazing and surprising that whether you be cooking in the kitchen or getting dressed, that you don’t seem to have any grab bars or any other adaptations to make any of these activities a lil easier. Due to “relatively-minor” disabilities plus age, we are thinking of some adaptations at our home. We already renovated our bathroom to add 2 new grab bars which add a lot of convenience and safety to our showering,

I would think that the first way you learned to dress yourself would be on the bed, then in your chair. Or maybe I’m wrong. Did you learn all this in Rehab, or did your mom or someone else do it for you for the first while after you became paralyzed?

Not me, I pull my jeans on the way the young woman did. For me its easier just to lean from side to side and pull my jeans or what ever up then it is to have my legs up in the air like that. Although Empowered Para you do make that look easy. Plus i had one of my knees operated on so i just can't fling them forward like you did yours.That was pretty neat to watch you do that though. I haven't done that since i was a kid. But i am going to try it the way you did it. Who knows that just may be easier.

I had a friend on a wheels chair and she explained me how she used to get dressed and seems that was more on the lines of the girl that you'd posted at the begining; there isn't a "wrong" technique if it works, some are just more common than others or taught more than others i guess, it's not the same to dress up yourself than to dress or undress someone else.
@kevinlstephenson67597 ай бұрын
The majority of the time I put my pants on while in the wheel chair, but putting my pants on in the bed is how I was first taught in rehab to get dressed. But now about 14 years of life in a chair getting dressed in the bed is more tiring and time consuming than getting dressed in the chair.
@westiepower20207 ай бұрын
I’ll never understand women’s fashion, as why you buy jeans that are pre-ripped and drafty. But question: Would looser pants be easier to put on or would tighter ones (assuming both have no rips)? And IMHO, for a T6 with few, if any, tummy muscles, my goodness, you can sure move your body well! I guess it proves that with a combination of developing skills and much practice, one can do many things! Amazing Brittney!!

Oh, for God’s sake, I always envisaged that tasks would be harder for paras but holy crap, I had no bloody idea just how much harder and time consuming just putting a pair of trousers would be. The human mind is amazing in how it allows us to adapt, but I think every damned moment of every damned day would frustrate me to no end and totally do my head in. I just take wayyyyyyyy too much for granted. 😀😀 Tongue in cheek comment follows….. I dunno if I want to adopt you or I want you to adopt me…..probably the latter coz you’ve got this adulting thing down way better than my own self!!!! My occupation deals with adversity each and every day…..at a much higher level than 95% of the community but, girl, you take dealing with crap with economy and alacrity to a level well beyond my comprehension. Yeah……except I’m a whole heap of oceans away, and a hemisphere, I think I really need your guidance to be a human!!!!! ALL of us that are exposed to you are so blessed. You. Are. Awesome. And how you put a dress or skirt with tights/pantyhose?
@EmpoweredPara7 ай бұрын
I never where tights or pantyhose. A dress I just put on over my head abd the pull it under my butt:)
@jazmineminner76447 ай бұрын
Anna, as a tights/pantyhose loving para, I put them on the same way I do pants (which is pretty similar to how Brittany puts hers on). If I’m wearing actual pantyhose (the ones that are thin and easily rip), I do have to be more careful when pulling them up, so I don’t actually put a hole that turns into a giant run. Making sure I get plenty of the fabric is essential for getting them up completely, especially if they’re super tight. As for skirts, I find them even easier than pants because no pant legs to deal with. You just gotta adjust once they’re up to ensure they’re not too crooked.
@kardiamit5 ай бұрын
I only wear dresses and when it comes to tights, you have to wear ones that don't rip! In a dress in a wheelchair everything is much easier. I haven't worn trousers for about 5 years. For comfort (30 years in a wheelchair, paraplegia, T4.)

Girl…….I’ve commented before on how your positive attitude just blows me away, as I’m fully able bodied (well, as much as a 65 year old old fart is) so have no concept of your ….challenges. Now, a couple of things were apparent to me which I actually would prefer to communicate privately to you (for fear of embarrassing you) but I dunno how to do that on the EweChube these days. Immediately before you dragged yourself onto the bed, as you were fully turning to face it,I think, a look of either embarrassment or apprehension crossed your face. As it’s obvious that you do this daily, so the trepidation wasn’t, I assume, due to the difficulty of the task, but more likely due to people seeing below your waist…..and certainly NOT because you were going to display your ummmm…….intimate area coz you had shorts on, so a light bulb went off in my head as to possibly why…..and thus this comment. It occurs to me that you’re used to discussing your …challenges….and you face the camera enough so it ain’t that. I think it was the entirely normal “ girl” thing of feeling vulnerable about how you present because the few vids I’ve seen of you, your legs are always covered and I want to reassure you as best I can with my complete lack of filtering!!!! Never having seen a para’s legs sans covering myself, I was sorta expecting knobbly knees and kinda not much flesh and mostly bone, due to lack of muscle use. Girl, YOUR legs look far better than mine and better than so many women who parade their own, who are fully able bodied, so if you were worried about that, throw that thought out the window. I guess the further reason for this comment is that DESPITE your obvious trepidation, you continued with the project and presented an entirely informative and interesting presentation. That takes a whole heap of pure guts. My admiration for you just rose to the sky…..as if it wasn’t already immense. Lemme just say that you’ve now elevated yourself in my mind way above just ‘bout anyone I know. In my life, due to some the behaviour of a lot of individuals, I now NEVER put women (or anyone else) on a pedestal……..but you now reside on one as far as I am concerned. Kindest regards Indy
