Let’s Get Organized | Hop #6 | 12x12 Paper & Paper Pads | September 2022

Hi everyone,
If you would like to get your crafty space organized, get some new ideas, and have fun along the way, we would love for you to join us in our monthly KZbin hop, taking place on the last Sunday of the month. A group of crafty friends have been getting together monthly to share their storage tips and organization ideas for that month’s selected Crafty Item(s). This month’s hop focuses on 12x12 Paper & Paper Pads. In case you don't know, I'm ADDICTED to PAPER, so this topic is a constant struggle for me. It will be so fun to see how other crafters organize these things we all seem to have accumulated sooooo much for our stash. Great idea to label the paper pads by collection to avoid buying duplicates. I have mine organized by brand, but often end up buying duplicates. Thanks for sharing.

I think I have enough to last the rest of this lifetime and the next. Hopefully I will reincarnate as a paper crafter again 😜... he he he! Thank you for showing everything in detail. I really appreciate it. I’ve just recently realized that I like flipping through my papers. I can’t do that right now because of the way I have them stored, but I like the idea of building something like you showed at the end where you store your loose 12x12 papers. You know what that reminds me of? Those bins record stores used to have where you could flip through record albums.

Thanks sooo much, Jennifer, for watching my super long video and for commenting. You are absolutely correct. I used to spend hours at the records store. I miss the time where you can scratch your records with the record player needle. By the way, another thing that maybe similar to the bin workbench I built is a garden potting table. But building something similar to what I built is super easy too. Cant' remember if I showed the shelf below the paper flip bin table. With a strong shelf that was already there, I was able to store 4 plastic milk carton bins to store the huge Echo Park paper collections that I have. Good luck with your craft room, Jennifer! He he he... never feel guilty about being a paperholic 🤪 ! Yes, I love my IKEA PAX wardrobe drawers. I loooove them! I didn't even have any KALAX shelvings until a year ago and I only have 2. Does Stampin' Up NOT allow you to do videos using a mixture of theirs and other companies' products? I thought about joining different crafting companies (shhh... mainly to get discounts) but didn't because I figured that they wouldn't allow this. @@cantwait_2plan Using other companies' products is somewhat discouraged since you are trying to Sell Their brand of products and they are competitors. I occassionally Did use other products but always had to put a disclaimer that I wasn't being paid by any company other than Stampin' Up! at the time. This way, it's a lot easier...plus I was spending more than I was making. lol

Thanks so much, Valentina! You're sooo funny! I am very fortunate to have such a large room to play in. I did spend beaucoup money last year buying up all the new collections, stuff I haven't seen since I took such a long time off from scrapbooking. So glad I am coming back to it though. However lots of catching up to do. I'm finally having a better feel of what I have, but not quite there. And yes, I have too much stuff. It's a sickness! Thanks so much, Brenda. And yes, I absolutely looove those IKEA PAX wardrobe system drawers. So happy I made the investment back when. I think I had them since 2005. They survived 1 local move, unassembled, which surprised me. Like most other IKEA shelving system, they have terrible back support, which in turn made them a little wobbly and not terribly sturdy, when you need to move them. I use 3M 1/3 cut post-it labels for storing DVDs in sleeves. I love the longer size than 1/5 cut for the same reason you do. But these are sturdy plastic with a bit of a texture at the top (I prefer white) so it’s easy to label them with a sharpie… and they attach with post-it adhesive just like the notes (but they stick very well and don’t come off with normal use).

Thanks so much Roseanne for stopping by my channel and for your kind words. My craft room is still a big mess since I had a 15-year hiatus from scrapbooking. I hadn't touched my stash for a long time so i had no clue what's there. And then of course last year when I decided to come back and scrapbook again, I had to binge buy lots of lots of new products and collections, so that didn't help in my craft room organization a bit. Wonderful systems of organization. I used ideas from your last one. Love the record sleeves. Could you link the two items from The Container Store? The clear bins for 12 by 12 paper and the shelf things to holder up the paper pads.

I'm glad you like it, April! I have been using it for at least 20 years... love it! Here's the link for the PAX system at IKEA (www.ikea.com/us/en/cat/pax-system-19086/). They don't make the Birch color anymore, but it is available in white. I will have a detailed room tour video in April 2023 (part of this KZbin hop) where I will show the system in full details and how I use them, so look out for it. @@cantwait_2plan I purchased 3 of the white today with drawers. It is 72+ inches tall and I believe 22 inches deep snd 19 inches wide. I could not see where I needed to purchase rollers for the drawers. Did you have to? I think with this being so deep it eill free up some space in my room

Awesome, April! I know you will love it. I bought the tall 93" frame. If I remember correctly, the drawers come with the sliders, so you should be all set. My 93" frame allows me 3 shelves tall enough for 12x12 paper and binders and 3 drawers, again tall enought for 12x12 papers. By the way, if possible, don't put the bottom drawer all at the bottom of the bookcase. I installed it up a little bit so that I have a bottom shelf to put stuff like small ironing board and iron, tall T-rulers, etc. I didn't do that before. But when I recently redid the drawers, I installed it this way and just love it. Feel free to call me if you need, it may be easier for you to ask questions. Hugs, Rosalie 😍

I'm so glad you got a chance to take care of yourself. I'm doing great, just concentrating on organizing my craft room and starting to scrapbook a little more.
