TW // Eating disorders - In regards to Ashley losing her period, that’s actually very common amongst people who starve themselves, especially anorexics. It is essentially your body saying “you are so malnourished, your body cannot possibly sustain a pregnancy”. The body is using up what little energy you’re giving it just to keep you functioning on a daily basis, so it stops performing “unnecessary” tasks like menstruating. Combined with her bad sleep schedule, overwork and stress, it’s unfortunately not surprising that it happened. I might not have explained it well, so feel free to correct me if I misspoke. Also BM GET YOUR BOOTYHOLE CHECKED 😡 !! Prostate cancer is surprisingly common, and easily treatable when caught in the early stages. You just gotta suck it up and take one (or two idk how many fingers they use) for the team!

@j.r.26744 жыл бұрын
Seriously, I feel like as they age in the industry they become a lot more healthier physically but looking at some idols weight when they are trainees and new groups is genuinely concerning. With the amount of exercising trainees and idols do all the time I’d imagine it’d be difficult to gain a lot of weight unless you are just not controlling what you eat. Sometimes idols starve themselves simply out of stress and depression though, but ultimately it’s the industry’s toxic method of keeping their idols “healthy”. I just really dislike it, and it is getting worse as more and more groups debut. I’m glad that there are some fandoms who don’t care for their idol’s bodies because some fandoms are very toxic to their own idols in regards to their physical appearance and body.

I have been watching for a few months now! I always want to comment but I never do. I really love the pod cast. I am in the first five minutes of the cast right now and I love how the boys didn't bat an eye when Ashley started talking about her period. It was like normal conversation. Sometimes I am just so touched at how thoughtful and emphatic they are to each other I suppose. I am not patting anyone on the back for doing what should be considered normal but it could have been the other way. So I am happy that the guys are so well rounded and capable of having such a wide range of conversation..... Okay done!

@@tinknikblue Being grossed out by periods =/= misogyny.
@tinknikblue4 жыл бұрын
@@Hieronymus-Pseudonymous I don't know if I agree that it is always misogyny every single time. I think in a lot of cases it is just bad experiences and being uninformed. Also just bad information around periods for both men and women. I have a younger daughter and she never had an problem around those conversations until kids her age started talking about it in a negative way. So it is constantly trying to make sure she has the right info as well as the men in our lives. Having an open conversation about bodies is not always easy for some people. I think the guys being able to have such open dialogue about it with Ashley makes it easier. I also think that Peniel and Matt being more "masculine" leaning men helps with opening up the dialogue about it. So that other folks can have bigger conversations. I love the pod cast!

To comment on what Ashley said about frequency of bowel movements: just because you go often, does not mean that you are losing out on nutrients. Unless your bowel movements are loose (i.e. diarrhea) , you're not losing out on nutrients. By the time, you're going, everything that's exiting your body is things your body deems it doesn't need/waste. To what BM said (LOL I just remembered BM is short for Bowel Movement in the healthcare field hahah omg): It is healthy to go that frequently as long as it is the usual for that person, the right consistency, color, and expelled with minimal strain (so painless). The frequency of bowel movements varies from person to person and can change depending on the food you eat (to some degree), if you exercise or don't, medical conditions/meds you're taking, etc. Also, you mention the American portion - LOL yeah its not that great to say the least. And last but not least, eventually you have to do a colonoscopy. It is a really important diagnostic tool to see if there's anything abnormal going on down there. To what Peniel said: There are different types of constipation but that isn't one of them (the eating and then having to go). Constipation is often described as when you go less than 3 times a week. The need to go to the bathroom after eating is not uncommon. Search for "gastrocolic reflex" for more info if you're curious. I am a nutrition student at the university level. If I have misspoken, pls lmk but as far as I know this is correct.

Women who are underweight, it’s actually very common to stop their cycle. Especially if they have little fat or muscle mass on their bodies to begin with. Stress doesn’t help, it can be a big cause in itself, but starvation is definitely a huge cause. When you menstruate they recommend eating at least 300 additional calories a day for the amount burned just for that process. If you have nothing to fuel that? Your body wont prioritize it happening…

For people who are worried about overworking. Scheduling things based on the amount of energy they take. Include breaks in your schedule and set alarms. Then work on not doing work until you get an alarm. Fill that time with pleasures. Also remember that the things you do for pleasure are the key to a sustainable lifestyle. So you are still productive even when you are sitting on the couch.

the reason ashley lost her period wasn't even stress. starving yourself causes a lot of problems for your body, it starts to shut down and that's why periods are one of the first things women lose when they starve. stress can be a factor but the fact she was only eating one meal a day and constantly working out (dancing) and got it back when she was actually feeding her body, it was not eating. i hate that she kept calling her starving herself a diet, because it's not. that's very dangerous to say they're the same thing. Edit: Matthew better get his "bootyhole" checked!! It's SO important for men to get that checked out for cancer

It’s so good to be back to the trio without anyone else. I don’t know why i did not enjoy 2 last eps much with those special guests. Feel like they couldn’t catch the vibes. :’(

Giiiirl nooo, having not period on a year, from August to November from the 2020 I didn't got my period but I knew it was bc of the stress :): Like a lot of respect to the idols, they got into so much pressure as trainees, then as an idols is worst. WE MUST THANK THEM FOR THEIR JOB THO.

wait.. PAUSE.. so you're telling you were so stressed that your period stopped? No thanks. I knew that training was super tough but not that tough. That is so unacceptable and scary. Seems like Ash is doing well and enjoying life though!! I'm so sorry that happened. Seriously.. that is unacceptable. Besides that, I love this podcast. Listening and doing homework is bliss.

Um no she mostly lost it because she was starving herself

Yeah stress does that and so does starving yourself (✨speaking as an anorexic with BPD✨)

It’s mainly because she starved herself, this is coming from someone who has had an ED and I lost it for about 8 months

Can you guys talk about any forms of culture shocks you experience while moving to Korea? Or reasons why you think some topics are taboo and why they shouldn't? Or some of your biggest regrets? P.s never been into podcasts until I found yours. I enjoy your conversations alot
