Ellefson was the music teacher of this girls when they were at the Berkeley music college or so I have heard. Kirk Hammet did actually tweet their Enter Sandman cover when they were younger, Lizz Hale wants to tour with them, Muse shared a cover of Hysteria by this bass player. Yes they are getting recognition they deserve. Also the bassist has the Steve Harris sound you are taking about.

I agree. I know, I know, Mr. "The audio is better in The Cave." Relax! The Whisky version has what The Warning is all about... A live performance. The Warning is a performing band, first and foremost. It's why they do what they do. The Whisky performance video will endure and evolve into an "all-time classic"... even more than it already has. They were playing at the freaking Whisky a Go Go, in West Holywood, one of the most famous clubs on the planet! That fact alone, for anyone sentient, adds to the umph of the video. Heck, two weeks later, KISS played there for the first time. If you two reactors read this, please check out that version. I don't know how to paste a link on this phone, or I would.
@holydado3 жыл бұрын
Yeah they Whisky version of this song is exactly what they said, they wished it was more distorted sounding, the cave version is more “clean” sounding. I personally like the whisky one a bit more, I watch whatever-but if I had to pick I’d pick the whisky one.

Great reaction, guys! A The Warning concert costs considerably less than a Metallica show!! And much more worth it. They did put out some great covers. They don't do covers anymore. When they were 9, 12, and 14, they caught the attention of Kirk Hammett. I think I mentioned that before. They are all extremely talented and they are accomplished songwriters. Their catalogue demonstrates their versatility, so if one song might not resonate with you, another one will. Or, you might get more out of a re-listen to Dust to Dust, as well. Thank you for reacting to The Warning! I hope to see you guys check out more from this band, covers or originals.

I hear you on needing a couple of listens some times, , but I haven had this many songs from a band where I have said those words, "holy shit" since discovering Pearl Jam back in the 90's. Do yourselves a favor and listen to a few more songs off either their first or second album.. First album is more straight rock, where the second album got a wider specter of moods throughout the album, but being a concept album it really works. And as you said you just didnt "feel" the first song, which is completely fair, not all music is meant for everyone :)

The version of this from The Whisky is off the charts! (and was also performed quite a while later). If you like Ale's style on the bass, you should check out a little performance they did at their private school in 2015, namely when they play Muse's - Hysteria. Ale, at 10 years old nails that complex bass line like it was nothing!😁 Link here if you're interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIaVZ6qjoatmr8k She was so tiny, she had to play a short-scale Fender Mustang, but has since moved to Spector full-size basses, and very recently their custom shop built her a custom 5 string bass that's just gorgeous! Ale, although she won't be 16 until December, has outgrown BOTH of her sisters already.😂👍

You want young energy on this song? The girls would eventually play this as an encore after a 2 hour set at LA's Whiskey A Go-Go and destroyed the tune! (Alejandra, the bassist, was visibly fatigued though since she was stumbling about rather comically.) Videos are up for it.

If I remember the story correctly, Metallica remembered the girls cover of Enter Sandman from back in 2014. On their tour they were playing in The Warning's home town and wanted to connect with the band. So like someone else said, they took a few days to learn this song, so they could jam together. But it's a rock and roll world and the timetable never ended up working out. Still a cool story though.

The Warning definitely has a Black Sabbath sound on some tracks, I hear it in Queen of the Murder Scene (the title track to the last album). I don’t know if that’s a direct influence or via the many other bands in between, including Metallica. At least so far they don’t sound like recent metal styles (but I would not be surprised if Pau secretly practices Tomas Hakke rhythms)

Metallica was past their prime when they were in their prime. I saw them live twice in '87 and '91. They were sloppy both times. One of the performances was Monsters of Rock at Castle Donnington, UK. The video is here on KZbin. I watched it again recently after all these years thinking maybe I had been wrong, but I wasn't. They were just this side of a complete train wreck. They haven't put out a decent album since then, so I never bothered to see them live again. If they butchered their best songs it could only get worse hearing them butcher their mostly mediocre new stuff.

Agreed. I saw them in '88, '91, and '94... I was underwhelmed all 3 times. One of the shows I was more there to see the opener, Queenryche. I’ve not seen Metallica live but I’ve heard people say that Lars has played badly a lot because he doesn’t practice. (I know Lars founded the band and has helped shape the sound, etc, not trying to trash him). Pau is certainly a better drummer technically, and kills it live.

Very complimentary review. Must take into account just the 1 guitar comparing to Metallica. Very talented musicians. Ale is nearly 16 now,Paulina 18 and Dany is 20. Played quite a few gigs in Mexico and States. 1 at the Whisky where they nailed this song again. Over 2 hour set of mainly originals. Very tight outfit. All 3 girls are classically trained pianists and Dany plays Sax as well. Re Ale,she's such a natural. Played the challenging bass line in Hysteria by Muse at age 8. Live a year later. She now towers over the other girls and sings solo in a mean tone in 1 song. Need another guitarist to complete their set maybe but plenty of bands have managed without a rhythm guitarist. Have produced some excellent videos for singles and covers. Check out their cover of The Pretender by Foo Fighters. Only 10,13 and 15 there. Female musicianship has exploded in the last decade and this is an example. Kudos to their parents. Check out some Asian female prodigies. Lisa X from Japan,15 on guitar and Petty Rock at 10 from Thailand and Ayu G from Indonesia. They really lead the world in female shredders at incredibly young ages. PR in bands at 6,the best 7 year old. Yoyoka aged 10 from Japan on drums. Played Led Zep covers,Rage in the Machine,played in international acts in Japan. Appeared on Ellen twice. Sponsorship deals galore.Complemented by Robert Plant. Flawless professional performer.

Drums are an instrument that ya gotta have set-up the way you're most comfortable playing, especially if you're the only one that plays them. I wouldn't feel too bad; back in the 90's when Aenima came out, I basically went "meh, it's no Undertow", but now it's one of my favourite albums of all time. Also, the song Queen of the Murder Scene is probably the closest to being metal of all of their originals so far, so you should probably check that one out some time.

Garage band??!! Probably why Lava/Republic/Universal Records have granted them this summer a huge 5-album deal (First Mexican band ever to be signed by a major records label). Lava was quick to have them record the first album with them; a third one for the band (the band has 2 previous independent albums as well - one of which was finalist for a prestigious award). Also probably why Spector has made the bassist a featured artist since she was only 13 made just made her an official artist with already one signature bass to her name and a second one coming out in 2021. Probably also why the drummer is seen as one of the best drummers out there and has been an invited to judge high level drumming contests. All of them are sponsored by major gear companies. They have opened for band such as Def Leppard and The Killers, and played alongside bands such as Motley Crue (Vince Neil), Aerosmith, Tesla, Alice Copper, etc... All that before the oldest girl turns 21 and the yougest 16. Now for your comment about the vocals, you like or you don't I guess, but bands like Metallica and Megadeth have sh*tty vocalists and are still part of the Big 4 and are considered iconic bands. Fun fact Dave Elefson from Megadeth was actually one of their teacher when the attended the Berklee College of music. John Moyer from Disturbed also worked directly with them, just to name a few. Please do some research before making free statements. you don't like them, fine and move on, but do not speak of things you do not know.

Hmm, quick to judge teens. They are much more than a pretty good garage band now.

the Mexican girl group called THE WARNING, for my taste is a rare mix of legendary rock groups like Suzi Quatro, Joan Jett and the black hearts and Heart.
