I think you would like some of the collection from Ostroy cycling from New York City. They have some cool patterned jerseys, my favorite being called the Punk Flyers jersey with a a pattern of old band posters in black and white in the mid section (similar to news print).
@TheCountrySteve2 жыл бұрын
I've bought a jersey from Ostroy before. Absolutely love the design (their LA Monuments pattern) but the quality is questionable. The material isn't the best and the zip feels a bit cheap for the money it cost. That said, when I had a fault with the jersey I initially bought from them, the customer service was as good as I've had from anywhere

I think cycling fashion is like wearing overcoats over 3-piece suits these days, the more formal, simpler your kit combination is, the cleaner and sharper you will look, hence people are starting to favour earthy solids that matches with the environmental elements they would be riding in or just black and white. All the adventurous textures, dots and splashes make you look 'loud'.
@nguyenho95912 жыл бұрын
A graphic design analogy would be: Solids are like SF Pro Display, polkadots and splashes are like Comic Sans

Hi Chris, the gradient to a darker lower midriff might help de-emphasise middle age spread. Light top section and black belly...with super tight lycra...for the old bloke win (I am qualified to make this assessment!). Love your channel and keep the great work up!.
@MrJwmurph2 жыл бұрын
Agree, I've got one of those Assos gradient blue jerseys and the darker lower section is definitely more slimming, makes me look less like a tightly stuffed sausage!

Thanks for the fashionista advice Chris!! Two things - 1. Rapha are the most advertised product in my feed. I get an ad from them almost every video I watch. 2. I'd be keen to see some local brands like NeoPro, Black Sheep, Pedal Mafia and others that are doing some cool stuff

About 4 years ago I bought some winter kit - long sleeve jersey and 3/4 Knicks out of Northern Italy - La Passione. Best gear I've had - warm and best fitting and very Euro looking. Since then I have bought their stuff most years - summers jerseys and Knicks, socks are terrific as well. Bought another winter jersey + merino long sleeve base layer and cab't fault it. Strangest thing with these guys is - I had a zipper on my summer jersey blow out - I sent it back to Northern Italy - they replaced it and sent it all the way back to Sydney !! Anyway - happy to see these guys are sponsoring Movistar this coming season which is terrific.

I listen to a podcast in the UK from a very reputable bike store, Criterium Cycles and he mentioned that the top quality lycra is really hard to print patterns onto, which is why the likes of Assos and Rapha etc tend to have main blocks of colour with minimal patterns and, if you do get a highly detailed jersey there has to be a compromise in quality. That said, I do like some of the Cycology designs. Stolen Goat are another brand that seems to get the mix of design and quality spot on 👍

Chris, I need some fashion advice for my friend (Mick Quinlan), he has received his Bowral Classic 2021 jersey a couple of weeks prior to riding the actual event. Is it a fashion faux pas to wear it before you actually rode it?

Could of done a lot better with your choices of brands. Pedla would of sent you into a frenzy with their current range of camo Pedal Mafia and Attaquer are doing great collaborations and the Pedal Mafia summer palate is sweet. Plenty more Australia brands to give love to Black Sheep, Babaci, Hunter Bros, Cat1 Not a fan of the big logo on Cycology kit Did write a big list of brands outside of Australia, but youtube ate it ;-)

Certainly can look at these brands in the future. I wanted to get a good cross section of styles here. The brands you mention are all very similar in their look and while Castelli and ASSOS are not that big here, they are still have a huge market share in the US and UK.

You like the patterns, but you wouldn’t buy it because you are stuck with one brand - Rapha. You have to wear it’s as it is a sponsor. Our club switched to Le Col and I don’t hate it. The quality of their jerseys are good and price wise not as expensive as an Assos or Rapha. The one thing I’ve not been so keen on is the pad in the shorts. They have a way to go to catch up with these other brands. You do get what you pay for in terms of comfort in the saddle.
