We take many road trips, and I always work Utah into the trip itinerary. In my opinion, Utah has the most beautiful national parks in the country. I’ve never seen so many fascinating canyons and rock formations along with the beautiful shades of orange and red colors anywhere I’ve visited. And you don’t have to be in a national park to see all of the beautiful wonders this state has to offer. I love driving through Utah canyon county. The scenery never gets boring. Can’t wait for my next road trip. Thanks, and keep the videos coming 😎

Beautiful video of Capital Reef. Our family visited the park two years ago, but just stuck to the paved roads.

I drove the paved portion of the Burr Trail in 2022. Wow it was gorgeous.

Can't wait to go back. Tried Cathedral Valley last year but the Fremont River was in flood stage and you must ford it to enter. Did Burr Trail up from Bullfrog and out the switchbacks - great fun. PS, Cheryl, your new number 1 scary road can be Shafer Trail in Canyonlands. I thought I was gonna die. Love your vids, so full of info, so keep them coming.

Just did Loop the Fold yesterday. Amazing experience. Didn't see a single car until I got to the red rock canyon portion of the drive, about an hour east of Boulder. Note that I wouldn't take a RWD car uphill on the Burr switchbacks -- you really need power delivered to the front wheels (or all wheels) on a gravel incline like that.

@@WereintheRockies. I'm cracking up right now because I actually saw this when it came out, but after hiking Hickman Bridge and Cassidy Arch with my wife, 5 and 7-year-old girls, I must have been delirious and thought this was new LOL We are currently in VERY snowy Bryce after visiting Arches, Canyonlands, and Capitol Reef. It has been a perfect Spring Break trip so far, and a huge reason why is because of all you have shared. I literally have thought of you both every day of this trip and am sending so much love and gratitude your way

@@WereintheRockies The weather has been great, really. Last night we went to sleep at 7pm LOL in Torrey and woke up to a winter wonderland. The drive to Bryce was pretty good, minus the last bit of unplowed road. We saw the Sunset and Sunrose points today and spent time in the Visitor Center while the snow came down. We are hitting The Fairyland trail and Queen's garden tomorrow. Navajo loop is closed due to rock slide (which you probably already know)

Thanks for posting these amazing videos. My wife and I will visit Utah's National Parks next April. I read on Capitol Reef's official website that the Scenic Drive should be closed beginning in April, without reference to a specific date where road closure would begin. Do you know if the exact date of this road closure is available somewhere? We would normally be at Capitol Reef on April 9-10 and hope we will be able to travel the Scenic Drive, as some of the other roads that you mentioned in your video seem a little bit rough for our sedan.

I do not know the exact date, as the date may change. I would contact Capitol Reef NP directly. Best of luck.

Headed to Capital Reef in September. We're towing a FWD 4 cylinder Equinox so not sure how many of those drives we can take but will inquire at the visitors center.

We are from Florida and will be traveling next summer from Salt Lake City to Kanab UT pulling our tiny camper along a stretch that we are completely unfamiliar with. It appears there are two options; 15 or 89 just south of Provo. What is your recommendation as far as a more scenic route and what is there to see or stop for along the way. Thanks for your answer and we enjoy your informative videos.

89 is more scenic and at some points travels through the mountains. I-15 travels along the western front of the range -- still good views of the mountains but not quite as scenic as 89 probably

I've been loving y'all's videos and will continue to do so. I know that a 4WD high-clearance vehicle would be the ideal for Cathedral Loop; my wife is balking at the drive because she fears a rental car would get "tore up from the floor up". How founded are her fears?

Great info and great rides but a common mistake. Reef comes from barrier. When explorers found this rock formation it resembled the Capitol dome and it was a tough barrier to cross through.

Omg.....its not called a reef because it was underwater. A reef is a raised 'something' that either isolates or reinforces something that is typically narrow and long. Yes.... coral reef, oyster reef, sand reef, rock reef are all conguring up nautical visions. However the word 'reef ' describes the structure. Reefing in a sail, on your pants, on a tarp, tent shirt or other fabrics ,can be used to stitch canvas together to strengthen the joint and to isolate the panels. This is done to stop tears from running. You can add reefing by folding a single panel in a z and stitching it like you were putting two panels together. This add both strength and rip stop. Rip stop nylon is just a bunch of really small reefing build into the fabric. Capitol reef (and San Rafel swell) are a description of the geologic formation. It is a raised barrier that is long and narrow. It has nothing to do with the sea. (Yes it was under water, but that can be said for the whole area). On the ocean a reef can ruin your travels and you have to go around..... in Utah it kept the wagons from having a good day And they had to find a way around.
