The New Century Global Center in Chengdu, China is often considered the world's largest building. With almost 19 million square feet of floor space, no other building has more floor area. It's freaking huge! Inside there is 400,000 meters squared shopping mall, many offices, conference rooms, a university complex, two commercial centres, hotels including the Intercontinental Hotel with over 1000 rooms, an IMAX cinema, a "Mediterranean village", a ton of restaurants, cafes, and bars, a skating rink, and even a 5000 square metre artificial beach, which includes the 9th largest screen in the world.
It’s estimated that the cost of this building was up around 7 billion US dollars.
It was built by a Chinese billionaire named Deng Hong, who last I heard was arrested for corruption.
This was in 2013, the same year that the Global Centre opened.
I believe he was released, but I think he’s gone into hiding or something because I can’t find any current info on him.
It's easy to get lost in this massive structure. In this video, I take you on a walk through the building, showing you all the interesting bits that I know of. It's a tour of the largest building in the world!
HOW TO VISIT THE GLOBAL CENTER IN CHENGDU
It's very easy to visit this giant building. Metro line 1 will take you right there (you don't even have to go outside). Head south to stop Jincheng Plaza (锦城广场).
If you prefer to take a taxi, you can ask for xīnshìjì huánqiú zhōngxīn or show the driver the name in Chinese: 新世纪环球中心
Tune in Tuesdays and Thursdays at around 3PM EST for new videos, including my series Chengdu: City of Gastronomy (goo.gl/kSSxw2), where I randomly pick a card that has a Sichuan dish on it and I hit the city to find it and try it. There's so much good food in Chengdu, Asia's first ever city to be named a UNESCO City of Gastronomy.

Went there 2 days ago to check it out (today I'm back in Australia) Pretty much unchanged from your video, except movies at IMAX are different. Very quiet for shopping. Maybe 10% of what I would call 'busy' Very expensive stuff. Basic items are more expensive than Sydney or Melbourne. It is only a place for ultra-rich Chinese to shop, not the average Chinese person. Still, despite some of the janky welding on the steelwork, it's an an awesome building. Glad I went.

It was clearly built on someone's ambition rather than money-making purpose. I live in ChengDu but rarely go there, if you want go shopping there are many better choices, if you want to watch a movie there are also plenty of better choices. It is only attractive to new comers.

This building is impressive and it certainly is huge. I think you meant to say 1,700,000 square meters not 1,000,700. That’s 18,298,648 square feet in case anyone was interested. Wow!

You need a GPS to tour inside. But how would GPS will work inside that massive wide building? HVAC would have a hard time but it works! Population of that building is more than a small town.

This building is impressive in terms of sq.ft. But I would say that the Boeing Everett factory in Washington State may in fact be the largest "overall" when all categories of measure are averaged out. The Boeing Everett factory is the largest by volume in the world! It has 4,280,000 sq.ft. of floor space, but it also has 472 million cu.ft. of volume. However if Tesla completes the Gigafactory in Nevada, it will be the 2nd largest by volume and 3rd largest by sq.ft. But "overall" it will actualy be the largest building in the world.

Itchy Feet on the Cheap --- Actually, the most difficulty I have is dealing with weenies like you. I do for sure experience an existential miasma leading up to a nocturnal assignation because it is 1 AM as I write this. You might have credibility if your sidebands were set in phase with each other and you could enjoy a 3 dB signal to noise ratio improvement; but as we can all see, your choice of shit music is limited to the moronic element of society. Peace out, and fuck you.
