Imagine being ghost hunters, and going ghost hunting, and a random individual with a black profile picture somehow enters your private chat and says ominous things.. and you say "what a creep" and dismiss that as if it's not a relevant incident... FAIL.

Not to mention the ghost ball and ghostly woman and child in the cameras.... Like are we ghost hunting or not??
@BigGrabowski4 жыл бұрын
Well, with real ghost hunters, the good ones at least try to find real-world applications for things they see. I've heard someone say "the best ghost hunters are skeptics", because what you can't explain is far better evidence than what you can. Certainly, seeing a ghost woman and child should have been a good clue, assuming they didn't tell anyone they were visiting the site.

I personally think it's a brilliant game by a very talented indie team. If you haven't known of or played any of the Darkfall series, especially the Last Crown, you might be at a disadvantage . Yes there's lots of info, especially at the beginning but soon one is left to utilize what one has learned. The game is rather linear and the task list is there for a reason. Plus yes there's tons of reading so it might not be everyone's cup of tea. I LOVED it...😎🙂

There are quite a few callbacks to the other games in this universe, not just Dark Fall. This is the only game from this universe I don't own yet and it's by far the most complicated when it comes to the ghost hunting equipment. In fact, several puzzles revolving around Nigel rely heavily on knowledge of The Last Crown (the only game where you actually meet the bloke). CJU's had a bit of an easier time simply because he's played every game from this universe, but even he was tripped up by the Saxton map puzzle. One of the fatal flaws with Dark Fall is how different each game is, breaking the narrative flow. Jumping from the basic mystery of The Journal to time travel in Lights Out, then the sloppy return in Lost Souls, each game sort of ties together but also alters history so you never know exactly what really happened. In this one, Steve's attempt to stage a haunting means the first phase of the game is incredibly annoying. During this portion, he and Jen are constantly bugging the Newbie with questions they already know the answer to so they can see if he's paying attention (and they don't even hide this fact in their comments). However, Bear (the straight-lace of the group who actually CARES about investigating) puts an end to this phase when he calls Steve out. Soon after, the farce ends and the nightmare finally begins. It reminds me so much of the bumbling of Ghost Patrol from Mystery Case Files: Shadow Lake (although I'm not sure whether Steve or Jack is worse to work with). Dark Fall 1 is still the best of this series, but once the whole experiment section is over, this one does get pretty good. The Nigel references give us a nice chunk of background for the famous ghost hunter. The fact that the other hunters (except for Ben) spend all their time just watching you on the cameras instead of doing any work is rather annoying, but then this is the first time you aren't the only living person present in Dark Fall. As for people wanting to see you and Sean do an actual ghost hunt, I think it would make for a cool video if carefully edited to cut for time but keep the experience. However, a lot of this fancy equipment is unnecessary, and it pays to use more mundane equipment such as spirit levels and commonm sense early on to debunk a lot of perceived phenomena. My wife used to be part of a ghost hunting group, and there are quite a lot of hauntings around here (some legit, some for the tourists), so if you're ever in the US near the Pittsburgh area, you could easily get set up with one of the local groups for a stakeout. They generally won't allow Steve's type along, so you won't have to keep telling your walkie to shut up.
Got my 8 month old in my arms and we are both watching this as we lay in bed and be lazy. 💕

I have to say it. I’ve seen documentation of altered photos practically since photography began, although early on double exposures and movements regularly made creepy stuff. Time exposure like that gets weird very easily. But if you’ve seen early motion pictures, they were already using overlays and effects, even before they had ‘talkies’. They absolutely could’ve falsified photos in the 1980s. How exactly, I don’t know, as I’m not a photographer, but they did it. It’s a very interesting topic to look at, if you’ve got time! Not relevant to the game, but Gab is one of those people who would look great in literally any hair color, I swear! Blonde looks natural, brown looks natural, I’d bet red and black, too. She could probably make blue or pink or other wild colors look like they grew that way! That’s a rare gift!

The writers for this game never heard of pacing and the cardinal rule for script writing: always avoid infodump. The sheer amount of talking over and text and contextually based information is just overbearing. The boss or whatever also seems totally insufferable. That's what I'm taking away from this so far.
