What I see happened is that the daughter hit her head on the climbing mountain because at the beginning of the game, she says that that’s where she’s going to before he talks about how she died, which caused an injury to her brain when she was at home, she called her father, but he was unable to come home because of work then she passed away while waiting for him to get home and he found her on the floor when he eventually did get back and he was hit with all the guilt that he wasn’t there and didn’t take her head hurting seriously, the rat man was his daughter‘s favourite cartoon character and he began dressing up as the rat for birthday party or something like that then he saw the other girl who reminded him of his daughter which started to make him spiral down a dark path, so he began watching her at the park until one day he chased her into the bathroom you can tell by the video you get when you upload the photos, he then kidnapped her and tries to get her to fill the role of his daughter but she refused to, which made him mad and in a fit of rage, he drowned her in the bathtub which is why there was so much water imagery, i’ve seen other people say that they believe he then dismembered her and put her into trash bags and that’s why there were so many trash bags around, after that that is when he began being haunted by both his daughter and the girl, she kept spiralling down, haunted by his own actions the ghost of his daughter, then turned him in or compelled him to turn himself in, but he knew he couldn’t live with himself after what he did so he jumped off his balcony instead. Some people theorize that the older woman could be the other girls mom or a distorted fusion of both girls. Edit: wow thank you all for so many likes. I just wanted to add some thing that I forgot to mention, and I was reminded by by someone in the comments which is that the dad might’ve taken multiple girls which is why there’s two different times of disappearance and the many trash bags as well as the reason why there is so many lost kids stuff around the park but the girl Ghost in the game ( AutoCorrect will not let me type it so sorry about that) is his latest victim which he killed within the last 13 days before the game started, he was haunted before this, but she was just the one who made him realize the monster he had become I personally believe that maybe he was slightly more sober for the last girl’s death cause with all the cans strewn about it’s implied that he may became an alcoholic which corrupted his judgement, someone also pointed out that he may have worked as the mascot before his daughter died and that’s the reason why it was her favourite character and why he couldn’t be there much because of the scheduling which I think is a great observation also another piece of evidence that he may have dismembered. The girl is the fact that the rat man has a chainsaw and comes after us and that’s what he may have used to dismember her. I just thought it was something good to point out.

I definitely agree that there's two girls. It would make more sense and clear up the discrepancies. Such as the missing poster saying the girl went missing at 3pm while the voice says a girl went missing at 8pm. As well as why there's a girl wearing a school uniform and one wearing pj's. And at the end why the girl calling seems to refer to her "dad" and her "father" as separate people.

The older lady ghost is probably Mitsuka. He tries to upload the duplicate photos of his real daughter but then gets an error that the deceased has been more than 13 days. My interpretation is that Mitsuka died years ago and if she's still alive, she could be older, hence the older lady ghost in uniform.

Gab read in the missing girl's notice that she disappeared from the park at 3pm. Then she found a poster that said Mikey would visit the park from 11-1pm and 4-6pm. So the protagonist kidnapped her during the break when Mikey was not doing the meet and greet.

Story: The father worked as a mascot, Mikey. That's why his daughter had so many drawings of it in her room. But because of schedules for pictures and everything else he was really busy and so Mitsuka went to the park alone. She hurt her head and when she got home the pain got worse so she called her dad but he couldn't go home bc of work. Mitsuka unfortunately died because of that head injury and her father found her when he got back. Filled with guilt. The protagonist/ dad, dressed up as the mouse mascot kidnapped the other girl, as we can see the scene where she runs to the men's bathroom and we get her picture as well as the mascot looking at us from the door. He wanted to pretend she was his daughter. Kouda maybe drowned herself in the bathtub but she dies and the Dad believes he is being haunted. But he is in so much denial his mind warps both girls into one. The scene where Kouda emerges from the bathtub and then when we lift the camera she's Mitsuka. I have a theory that the dad cut the girls body using a chainsaw and hid the parts in many places in his house, that would explain the blood and the Mikey with the chainsaw, and also the game mechanics. The ghost is pratically the protagonist haunting himself about what he is done. That's why the Mike's keep trying to get us, why the girl is still in the house in many ways. (Maybe how he tried to hid her) Filled with guilt and maybe thinking that's what Mitsuka would do he calls the police and confesses, but ends up jumping from the balcony and killing himself.

The harsh buzzing of flies in the trash bags in the house, I wouldn't be surprised if the missing girl was in one or more of those... especially with how in the park when you go to the chin-up bars when it gets dark, there's one hanging ghost girl with one garbage bag sitting beside her, but when you click the picture both the hanging ghosts and garbage bags multiply along the entire length of the bars. Also, I looked up a guide, you can photograph a pair of feet sticking out from under one of the piles of trash bags in the house. ...Of course there is also a lot of beer bottles, roaches and other mess around the house too, so it's possible it's just trash.

its seems the general consensus is that Mitsuki went to the park alone bc her dad is neglectful and hit her head, she goes home and eventually tries to call her dad about it hurting and she ends up collapsing and dying from an untreated brain injury. Her dad is wracked with guilt and dresses up as his daughters fav character Mickey and kidnaps Manami from the park and forces her to pretend to be Mitsuki but it doesnt help and he eventually attacks Manami and drowns her in the bathtub hiding her body in the trash which is why we see Manami's ghost shoved into tight spaces and amongst garbage. Haunted by the spirits he gets the camera to try and free himself (My take is the camera frees the spirits by giving them the power to fulfil whatever is keeping them there, thus the vengeful spirits gain the power to get revenge on the dad in the form of the Mickey spirits, a bit of a monkeys paw for the protagonist). They force the dad to call the police and confess and instead of being arrested the dad jumps from the balcony and kills himself. The spirit of Mitsuki also jumps either as a symbol of her freedom or to join her dad who she still loves. The hand grabbing the camera at the end is the Mickey spirit symbolizing that the cursed camera will continue on to torment another.

I think it's so interesting how we hear and see a bunch of different ways how Mitsuka could've hit her head at the park (going down the slide, on the swing, wanting to try flipping on the bar, seeing her body on the mountain) because our character has no idea how she actually hurt herself. Honestly, there might not even be proof she went to the park by herself at all, since all she said on the call was that her head hurt and then she was dead on the floor when he got home-- he might just be assuming or making it up to justify going to the park all the time after her death.

The way I interpreted it was that the protagonist was grieving his daughter, became obsessed with a girl who looked like her, and dressed as the mascot to kidnap her. So he's being haunted by his daughter trying to find justice for the other girl, and the mascot is a manifestation of the protagonist's guilt.

SPOILERS: I love the spirit/entity idea of Mickey being an evil spirit hurting children and then tricking the parents into guilt. It's an awesome explanation, but I feel like it doesn't line up as well as a more realistic approach. From what I understand, the father worked a lot and didn't give his daughter, Mitsuka, much attention. She loves going to the park, and one day, while there without her father, she falls and hurts her head. When she gets home the pain remains and she calls her dad for help, but he stays at work instead of coming home. He returns to find her dead and feels guilty. His trauma drives him to hurt the mother of Mitsuka (the older ghost seen in the house) and kidnap another girl, Manami (disguising himself as Mikey to do so). Eventually, he drowns Manami in his bathtub, as she can't actually fill Mitsuka's role in his life. He is now reliving all of his actions, as his daughter is haunting him because of what he's done to Manami. Mitsuka uses the Mikey mascot to attack the father because that's what he used to hurt Manami. In the end, we see Mitsuka call the police to report her father's actions. When the father realizes what has happened, he takes his own life---out of guilt, or maybe to avoid going to jail for his actions, who knows? Becasue Mitsuka was there to haunt him for his actions, she no longer needs to stay, so she jumps off the roof alongside him. Guys, PLEASE tell me y'all's ideas! I'm so interested to see what everyone else thinks happened, because I know that my interpretation still leaves some gaps and uncertainties.

This is approximately what I was thinking... I'm still kinda confused about all the details, though. ^^; But I was thinking that maybe the older ghost was the one playing Mikey, and she witnessed something, and he killed her too. It kind of looks to me the ghost is wearing some kind of a school uniform too, maybe she's like a high schooler or something (31:44). And we do later see Mikey wearing the exact same dress as she does (34:15). (I wonder if there was any mom in the picture, as Mitsuka never mentions her and doesn't seem to try to call her for help.) One thing I'm also wondering, if Mitsuka was already dead, how did she call the police? Could her ghost actually do something like that? Or did the father just imagine that/call the police himself...?

You know what? An evil spirit killing kids and tricking the parents into believing they did it would be an amazing premise for a movie. The movie starts with both the audience and the characters thinking they did it, focuses on them trying to figure out how they did it, and ends with them realising it was a spirit all along.

This isn’t my idea. I just saw another people commenting about the story. Mitsuka and Manami were friends and they were playing together at the park. The conversation at the beginning of the game (I can play on my swing by myself, etc) was actually held between the two girls. Manami might push her playing on the swing and then Mitsuka would hit her head. That was an accident. Manami tried to call the police with public phone but couldn’t reach out to it(we saw her trying to call during taking pictures). After his daughter’s death, he somehow knew the truth, kidnapped Manami at the park and killed her in his bathroom. However he felt so guilty that he couldn’t stand what happened and he had done, and finally killed himself. I think this makes sense!

My interpretation of the story (spoilers obviously): 1. Player character's daughter died of a stroke or aneurysm (hence the headache warning) 2. Player went mad, kidnapped a random girl from the playground to be a surrogate daughter - who later died from neglect/abuse 3. Player is unable to process traumatic events 4. The game starts - we're led to believe the 'missing child' is his duaughter - she's not. She's the kidnapped surrogate. 5. The real daughter's ghost (the one we've been taking pictures of to exorcise her) knows what her father is doing and punishes him at the end.

My theory was the daughter was helping the kidnapped girl find peace by calling the police on her dad. It could be the daughter is using the kidnapped girl's spirit somehow to call the police? Or the dad is overlaying the two images in his head, because he seemed to have kidnapped the other girl as a replacement, maybe? Or he's just a creep that likes to kidnap girls.

To summarize the story: -the MC's Daughter's (Mitsuka) died -the MC kidnap random girl (Manami) on a park to be the replacement by disguising as the Mickey Mouse ripoff, the Kidnapped girl died (The MC killed her) -Manami's ghost haunt the MC, MC want to lay her soul to rest so that she stop bothering the MC -got stalked by a Mickey Mouse Ripoff, which is meant to be personification of Mitsuka's ghost -the MC's real daughter's ghost appear and called the police -the police came, the MC commit suicide, but Manami's ghost followed him, don't want to let him off the hook easily, and Mitsuka's ghost as Mickey Mouse ripoff picked the cracked camera Some detail point: -The game started on Woman's restroom because this is where our MC kidnapped Manami -There's a lot of Water noise or water-related haunting on some place that Manami ghost appear, it because our MC killed her by drowning her in the bath tub and then mutilate her using chainsaw and spread her body across the park. That's why in ending the ghost also appear from the bath tub -During the boss battle, we took photo of the Mickey, but after the battle is over, all of that photo we took turned into Mitsuka's picture, which mean that Mickey's ghost is actually Mitsuka -When we upload Manami's picture, it uploaded normally, but when we upload the picture for the second time, it failed because it past 13 days time limit, which is a foreshadowing that the first girl is not our daughter -The Adult woman ghost is not really explained, but there's few theory: First: it's our wife that is furious beyond the grave second: it's another unnamed victim, probably Manami's mother that MC's killed when she tried to find her daughter, as she appear on the doorway even when you don't look through the picture. - 45:39 About the ending, no, we're not dead the whole time. When our MC killed himself by jumping you can hear the loud voice of something crashed, but when the Ghost girl followed him, there is no such voice. It's kinda unusual that Chilla's Art game only have one ending, and they even make it clear as in-game trophy, because this is the only outcome that our MC deserves.

Checked the other missing photos and looked around a bit. I think everyone else in the comments got it mostly right. So I'll just say some little details I haven't seen anyone else comment on. Spoilers: - the Protag is delusional from the very moment the game started, insisting his daughter died in their local park. A very neat example of a truth mixed with a lie to avoid guilt. Mitsuka did get the head injury that lead to her dying at home at the park, but it was her dad's neglect which ultimately led her to her end. And of course, he kidnapped Manami from that park, which ultimately led to her dying because the dad goes into the complete opposite direction: that of a delusional control freak trying to force Manami to act as Mitsuka. - Manami died within the last 13 days before the game starts. Her photos, that of the girl at the park, were able to go through. While Mitsuka's, the photo on the dresser, does not because she perished before that time frame. - The Protag dad dressing up as mascot to kidnap Manami was likely very literal. The one photo the Player can take of Manami in the mirror has her looking to the left, not straight at the mirror as people would normally do. When the Player follows her line of sight, we see the Mouse mascot at the door before slinking away. The Protag dad obviously approached her in this way to hide his identity, but he likely chose the Mouse mascot because it was Mitsuka's favorite. In his delusional mind, Manami is Mitsuka, so he approached her under this guise because he thought she would like it. If Manami did show any favorability, his delusional mind likely took that as proof Manami was Mitsuka, rather than just a kid who likes mascots in general. - We hear an announcement of a 1st grader (Manami) going missing and for children to go home early. Meaning Manami is 6 to 7 years old. The protag's daughter looks to be around the same age, maybe 8 or 7. If you were to combine the two little girls, you'd get a girl of 13-15 years old. This age range could explain the older looking female ghost wearing a school uniform-she is the combined form of Mitsuka and Manami.

I saw another theory that I like which says that Manami and Mitsuka were playing at the park - Mitsuka hit her head and we know what happens from there. But the idea being that's why Manami was targeted as the father's victim. I like this theory because the implication is that someone is watching Mitsuka at the very beginning, but it also works well with some of the pictures we get in the park with the little girl standing and she looks incredibly sad.

Just watched Sean play this game and it's so interesting/great that they didn't tell each other anything about it as well as seeing their completely different play styles. Like Sean immediately was taking photos of the numbers and somehow knew to put them into the phone to get clues about where to go and take photos but because Gab is always playing puzzle type games she thought it was for some kind of lock or something (rightfully so) at first. But then she knew to take random photos as well to get the shots she needed. and her input on the Japanese translation is always awesome!

In my opinion i think its a good point to notice where the girls are in the house because that could be our protagonists conscious thinking of previous ways to hide the body, but he wanted to put his "daughter" in a place she used to enjoy and thats why the phone notes are from Mitsuka.

So what actually happened is his daughter went to the park alone and went down the slide and hit her head. She died from the head injury and her father kidnapped a little girl dressed as micky and killed her.

I think he just went crazy from his daughter’s death and just ended up killing her after he kidnapped her, especially since he says his daughter is haunting him. So he possible thought the little girl was his daughter took her home but thought she was tormenting him and ended up killing the little girl thinking it was his daughter’s ghost…

I love Chilla's Art and their ability to tell these stories in ways that you can kinda see where the plot is going and feel rewarded when yoyr guess is right. They tell stories so effectively and maintain pacing and atmosphere beautifully. It's just as much real life horror as it is supernatural. And they nail both genres so well. It makes me nostalgic for old horror games and watching Are You Afraid Of The Dark? every saturday night. They just have a vibe where you feel at hoke but creeped out. You root for the characters and get truly invested in their story. If they ever watch Gab's videos and see the comments, I hope they know that what they make is truly a joy to play and watch, even if yer scared witless while doing it. And I love watching Gab play cuz she speaks the language and gives some insight and makes it feel even more immersive. Watching her play is comforting. I can't wait for the ramen shop one that was mentiomed last year to come out, or if it has, have my favorite youtubers play them!

this one was so freaky I had to play it on my phone vertical (so small screen) and on my table really far from me as I also play something else. and then I listen for gab's gasps, and rewind a bit cuz I'd be prepared for the ghosts showing up 😂 and even this way a few times the ghost pops in when I glance at my phone and I'd jump a foot high every time 😂😂😂 but I still keep coming back to try to finish it cuz its so fascinating of a game/story. and then because I couldn't watch it properly had to read ppl's comments explaining what happened lolololol
