My husband would like to share the mystery behind the white powder…”The powder is probably additives added to the bins (either uv blocker or clarifying agent or both) sometimes these additives don’t play nicely with the base resin and can leach to the surface showing up as fine powder. Keeping it away from heat or direct sunlight can help but but won’t eliminate the problem.”, in case anyone was really wondering :)

Is your husband an engineer? I mean, I have one here (Steve) and I get to listen to this kinda thing all day, every day.....with bonus dad jokes! (To be fair, I was a library cataloger and I am certain I got overly technical, too). At any rate, mystery solved!!

Congrats on the new storage system! One HIGHLY recommended hack when picture your items is to add a final picture of the bagged and tagged item. Weird things happen! I’ve had eBay lose my SKU’s, I’ve mistakenly added the wrong SKU number on my listing… The picture has saved my ass MANY times!

I use zip lock bags just in case I have to get back into them. Part of my inventory is in banker boxes and each box is marked alphabetically without giving individual skus to each item. The boxes are so much smaller than a bin so items are simple to find.

I do this too. It works. Boxes aren't too heavy. When a box is half empty, I just refill it with my next batch of photographed clothes.

I use ziploc bags. Sometimes more than 1 item fits in a bag. I write my own num. so it works for me. That way if something doesn’t sell I haven’t wasted a poly bag. Plus sometimes if you forget a measurement there’s always a question on the one measurement you forgot. I did start folding my clothes with the buttons inside that way they’re ready to put in either poly mailer or if it’s on Poshmark and it’s not very Expensive I don’t even put it in a poly bag anymore.

I believe that doing an "End Listing" and then "Sell Similar" would prevent stale listings from affecting your metrics...on ebay. Copy and Delete on Poshmark would do the same.

the way to see if elastic is still good is to stretch it and see how it springs back. If the elastic is shot, it will stay stretched out or not go back like it is supposed to. Measuring the waste before and after stretching will also let you know how bad the elastic is - the pants may be wider and less bunched!

VLV (Viva Las Vegas) is a good keyword to use in conjunction with Rockabilly. Viva Las Vegas is a huge annual rockabilly convention in Las Vegas. Many attendees go to the annual Hot Rod Rally in Austin, Texas and then head to Vegas immediately afterwards for Viva Las Vegas.

If you wanted to not use the clear bags... I watch a reseller, Sonia "Selling for good"; she uses ziploc bags that have a number. When the item sells, that bag and number becomes available for the next new item. You just take the item you sold from it and ship it the way you want . Congrats on this fresh new system!

Salud Matt. A couple of weeks ago, I too started going through my old bins to track inventory and reorganize before the new year. In addition, I am trying something new to me and it seems to be helping. Instead of doing a tradition markdown sale, I am running higher promotions at 20% of these old items and the sales are trickling in. My conversion/impressions etc is going up! I figured I was running 20-33% off markdowns and getting little views. The promotion increase to 20% and lowering a few dollars on the old stale inventory means they are now being seen with some sales! :)

Thanks for all your info as always….love the new inventory system! I loop a good size piece of shipping tape and stick it to my table and then use it to stick the wispy pieces you pull off to close the bags so they don’t make me crazy. Also, learned from another youtuber who did some experiments with her Poshmark listings …..best to copy and relist everything on Poshmark after 60 days because the items don’t show up at the top of the search anymore even if they are being shared all the time. I’ve been gradually relisting stuff and reevaluating price just based on the comps that come up as suggestions for pricing and pricing at the lower end instead of higher end of comps and have sold a lot of relisted items

I'm pretty familiar with Japanese festival garments and I have no idea what to call that thing. You might try the keywords "Jinbei" or "Happi" or "Haragake" It's not actually any of those but it's so weird that I suspect it might be a costume from a theatrical or film production for background actors. At any rate, you can attract collectors of Japanese festival garments with those keywords. You could also use "Yukata" or "Kimono" though it's definitely not either of those.

I always assumed that chalky substance is just dust collecting inside the bin. Which has admittedly puzzled me...like why is it so dusty inside a bin that's usually closed and stored indoors? But I wonder if it's plastic offgassing and solidifying? Or the surface layer of the plastic turning to dust?

The “Norman Mailer” really gave me a chuckle.. one of the many reasons I love your vids.. I could so relate to this. I use mainly bankers boxes myself, but I haven’t been great about a “SKU” system. However I recently got rid of / donated like 90% of my clothing inventory bec I was moving from my large house of 25 years to an apt… charity got some good stuff. But otoh I guess most of it was really arse, to paraphrase u.. ;) sitting too long. I’m sick of clothing for now and am selling a jewelry estate. Smaller bags. :) Keep fighting the good fight ;)

What is your ebay link? Very interesting starting to do similar. I actually just took medium walmart boxes and I cut along the middle and taped both ends and made 2 boxes for the shelf. Downside each fits 3 rows but once I put them in they hold pretty well. Might still do totes for big stuff noticed they use up the boxes so fast. Hoodies, sweaters and stuff. Kinda like the number stickers I been using marker, and will space out and have to go back and see what number I was on. My last photo is bag with the sku for when I put the draft together.

Our inventory system doesn't have the flaws and limitations as the others Ive seen on yoo-toob . Each box has letters AA-ZZ . Each item has a label number . AA1 , AB99 , ZZ50 ect. This eliminates the need to redo boxes . It also gives some feedback on when the item was listed .
