Your story of meeting cosplay friends while trying to fit in is so relatable ;v; I remember going to my first convention only a few months ago, yet I felt like I made stronger bonds with the people there than anyone I have met via "traditional" means. It's strange how a shared love over something so niche can create friendships that last for an eternity. don't worry about not having friends or cosplays!! the first con i went to with my dad and brother, and i had one amazon cosplay that i wore for one day! despite what you might see, most people at cons are not dressed up, or are doing closet-cosplays!

This is late, but as someone who had zero cosplay friends, trust me when I say if you go to 2-3 cons you will leave with a good number of contacts before the end of the con. Plenty of people there want to mingle and find new people to connect to it's an amazing experience!

When you talked about getting badge, I felt really confused. In sweden we have wristbands, as a way to prevent people from sharing a badge. Which also means many cosplayers have to think about it when they decide on cosplays, since staff need to be able to check the wristband. might be good to know for when you go to närcon.

Judging and mc’ing for cosplay contests is HARD WORK. I’ve been doing both at local cons for about 3 years now and it’s a lot more intense than people might realize. Prejudging is it’s own beast, and being the announcer takes a level of charisma that some people don’t know how to express, and knowledge of the characters really helps!

And thank you for the best helmet comment that helmet took me AGES since I’m colorblind and can’t see shades well enough to weather the armor. I used to work at CNN and loved working weekends during momocon. So nostalgic watching all the cosplayers from my perch on the upper floors lol. I dont do well in crowds, so it was a nice way to feel a little bit like i was there without actually being there. I can confirm that the building has been sold and CNN is set to be out of the building end of this year or early next.

The story about not wanting to go to a con because you dont have any cospaly friends is so incredibly real, your videos inspired me to dive head first back into cospalying (currently working on the concept of a Huntress cosplay from DBD!) but i am hesitating if i even want to *make* the cosplay because i no longer have friends in the community, but youre right, the cons are amazing and you can absolutely have fun yourself, thank you for sharing that story

As someone that has cosplayed some big cosplays, the elevator is truly one of my least favorite things. I get so worried that on my way down or up someone is gonna try to get in and they won't have room. I had that happen to me once and this poor couple had to wait for the next elevator due to their suitcases and other bags not fitting with the skirt and prop I had. I FELT SOOO BAD AND APOLOGIZED WHEN I SAW THEM IN THE LOBBY😢. Btw I love your videos they have really helped me learn to sew❤❤

The Momocon vlog!!!!! The arcade was so fun!!! We went down to it Thursday at like 1 am, and got to play all the rhythm and dancing games we wanted asdfsadf omg the cnn center is BRUTAL. We didn't really go in at all this year during the con, which was NICE. I'm very curious to see what happens with the building. Will miss the We Bare Bears statue if they take it down. Your meetups sounds like such a wholesome event! I know I struggle sometimes to make friends with people at fandom meetups, so hearing how you go out of your way to make that push for people who need it is really nice! ALSO our hotel rooms had pretty much the exact same view, y'all were just higher up adsfasdf

Maddie is pretty! I'm glad you make those meet up events. They're assume only in the US, so I'm not going to be able to attend, but it's great that someone is looking out for people like that. I'm working on my own cosplay and I honestly still don't even know what I'll do at a con, considering I don't know anyone and competitions seem scary. Admittedly sometimes I forget I don't actually know anyone yet due to having all the wonderful people on the spacecraft :D

This looks so fun! I'll be cosplaying at a convention this month when I haven't been to a con or cosplayed in 10 years! The first day I'll be going by myself and the second and third day I convinced some friends to go with me, so hopefully I can be like Pikachu Person and just have some fun by myself! Also I'm in my late 20s and want to cosplay from Naruto after never getting around to it in my teens, so it's nice to see the Kiba cosplay be so accepted. (Although I don't want the attention, I just want to know it's not weird to cosplay from Naruto in the 2020s lol.)

I have done a lot of traveling and going to events on my own. I don't have many friends that live close, so I have figured out ways to have fun on my own. The best part is if you want to go do something, you just go! If you want to take a break, you take a break! Most people going to events want to interact with other event goers. Have a little courage and do the thing you want to do.

Also I totally agree about the cosplay contest not letting you sign up online cause I was trying to get in it and I sat in the judging waiting room for over an hour in my godoka cosplay only to not get a spot because the judges ran out of time. momo con was great this year! i had three cosplays planned that i quickly had to throw aside because the first day i was in line getting my badge and 4 people asked to get a picture with Charlie "Moist Cr1Tikal" so yeah... brought three cosplays and everyone just wanted to get pictures and meet up with a skinny white guy with long hair and a beard wearing a white tshirt and black sweatpants. easily the most comfortable cosplay ive ever done.

My friends run the video game room at Nan Desu Kan in Colorado, a relatively tiny Anime convention and the only one that I have actually been inside. I delivered cosplay to Alex who was playing Julius Belmont from Castlevania. I don’t know much but I miss Colorado. It was a fun time.

One of the cons I go to has the escalator set up to, what thay did was pm rope off the escalators so you have to go around the back of them when you get off, it may sound silly but it 100% stops people blocking because everyone knows wher to go.

why I like to do masked cosplays (sun, moon, etc.) is because some cons that I have went to didn't let me go in with makeup on, so with masks you just have to put them in your bag or suitcase and then once you get in you just put them on! Plus, if the con you go to requires face masks for health safety, it doesn't ruin your cosplay! (most of the time)

The one fandom convention ive been too (LA Comic-Con) and the escalator problem was the same DX, they could stand or even sit on the huge stairs, or even the main entrance hall had plenty of room, but for some reason they liked being right in front of the escalators DX
