As usual I really enjoyed this episode, these trips to the record store are loads of fun for me to watch. I believe that Starcastle album you looked at had a cover by Ed Unitsky. He's on Facebook and has done a bunch of really good album covers. I'm glad you picked up Tarkus, it's pretty crazy and really the one album that really wowed everyone when it came out. I have it on disc, but also original vinyl. I had a chuckle at Anthony looking like he shouldn't have bought so much. I know that "what have I done?" feeling. I walked out of one store in Minneapolis with 25 CDs once. I almost get sick about how much money I'd spent but it was all stuff I couldn't find anywhere else. That Saga album is really good. Still have my original vinyl of that.

His collection boggles my mind even though I have a rather large pile of music myself. One thing we don't agree on is an all female Japanese band called Band Maid who I think very highly of. They're hard rock. There's also an all female power metal band called Lovebites. There are a bunch of other really good bands coming out of Japan. Some cool finds, as always. I own the Boulevard S/T (as BLVD) on vinyl and bought it for a buck at a flea market from a guy who moved to Ohio from Canada. Some really good songs. Good AOR/melodic rock in the veins of Journey or Loverboy with a bit of Mr. Mister, Glass Tiger or Cutting Crew included. Surprised you didn't pick up the Hammersmith album. Very rare record. I don't believe that has ever been reissued on CD, according to drummer Jim Llewellyn who has his own YT channel. He says he has been trying to get it reissued to CD but has had no such luck with it. I wish I was there. I so want that Kim Mitchell Akimbo Alogo album on CD. I own it on vinyl, and unfortunately, it's scratched and skips.

I wish everyone who owns an indie record store now had the same mentality as your friend there who owns Sound Exchange in regards to CDs and how it’s bad for business not selling them and how they pay the rent. All the indie record stores now cater to mostly vinyl it seems. Even the store I used to frequent is doing this now and is phasing out all their CDs. It’s come to the point I don’t even bother checking out any new stores and just buy whatever I want on Amazon because I don’t buy vinyl and CDs have suddenly become passé or uncool to all these indie record store owners.

Hi Andrew, that’s all very true. The full length of that snippet that you heard was about the recent resurgence in CDs and how other stores are now scrabbling to add CDs to their stock. The hope is this catches on and is a real changing of the tide and CDs start a comeback the way vinyl has.

@@BrendonSnyder It’s a wait and see game I guess. I hope it does happen because I still think there’s a lot of people who only buy CDs and didn’t jump on the whole “vinyl resurgence” band wagon. My only concern is record labels will see it as another way to milk music fans and Jack up the prices on new CDs like they’ve done with new vinyl.

Is there a parking lot for this store.... I heard street parking
@BrendonSnyder2 жыл бұрын
There is street parking but we parked in a garage. I think it charges $1 an hour. For us it was easier plus piece of mind to park in the garage.

@@BrendonSnyder I'd rather use the garage parking there..... Thanks for this info... The college is in the area
