The 50’s chest of drawers is so full of style and personality. I’m happy you picked it up. Furniture made in this time period is generally well made, but uses wood veneer on the surfaces, which chips over time. Yeah, it has some issues, but worth someone spending a little time and TLC on it. I hope you find a buyer for it.
@OriginalNethead5 жыл бұрын
I'd check inside the drawers for a name, and probably end up sanding and painting it. Those missing veneer pieces are a problem, but paint 'er and they'll vanish. Some flipper is going to want that!

That horn is, in fact, a speaker. The name on it is probably University. It's akin to the outdoor speakers used in sports stadiums. That particular size is more often seen on Little League fields. You can test it with a one and a half volt alkaline (or heavy duty) battery between the wires. You'll hear a popping/scratching noise when you connect the battery. Even if it's bad, it's affordably repairable it might be worth a few bucks to the right person.

The shelving rack you picked up with the toilet paper holder is mean to go over & behind the toilet. It can hold towels for company or Knick-knacks or extra rolls of toilet paper if you don’t have the toilet paper holder/dispenser. That unit is used if your house/apartment does not come with a wall mounted cabinet. Caio!

Agree. Pickers are intruding on people's property and privacy and the neighbors have varied feelings about all the parked trucks, mess, and noise. Best to pick up free goodies and get out of Dodge fast if picking. One guy stopped at my neighbor's trash cans across alley and took more than an hour to block alley and go thru everything. Tossed it all around. Neighborhood Dogs were going nuts at the noise, we all stopped to look, and it would have been the last straw if that goof had started to repack his truck in a neat and orderly fashion.

Pretty dresser. My guess is 40s/50s. My parents married in 1946 and that is what their first bedroom set looked like. Right after the war so some short cuts were made as the factories didn't have all the materials needed to fill the needs when the solders came home, married, and started new households. But any damage you see like on loose front, good quality glue will fix up and some touchup wood color from Home Dept or Ace will blend chip right in.
