Hi KZbin Family and Friends,
We will be making over some thrifted stools in the video. Using decoupage paper pieces that I had left over from another project. I also will be testing out Milk Paint for the first time.

Loved all the stools, particularily the red and black topped stool 😍 I have not been a fan of milk pant, as it has created issues each time. I moved on to Mineral paints, which I just love. They give the same effect as chalk paint, but are 3 in one, being primer, the paint and the top coat. However, that was an amazing save with you milk paint stool !!!!

Yvonne, that white stool you fought so hard to fix is actually the one that looks genuinely antique. I would probably buy that one if I were looking for a stool. The spindle stools are beautiful and they look new. I always enjoy your videos. I look forward to them the way I do a tv show. You are the best crafter on KZbin. I enjoy your honesty. I've been there myself when things I try go wrong. We all have. Keep going! YOu always end up making things look beautiful.

I watched a couple of people who were stenciling furniture say if you spray some clear coat or Polyacrylic on the stencil or under it to keep from bleeding. I'm sorry I don't remember the details. I intend to research it again but just a tip. Another tip is to spray the back of decoupage paper lightly with clear coat. I saw the decoupage tip on Flea Market Rescue. I've tried it on tissue paper, napkins, and scrapbook paper so far.

When I stenciled many years ago a tip I would have for you is the stiffer the brush the less bleed through so as my brush wore down i would use masking tape and tape around the brush to keep the bristles tight just a little hack that helped me and bouncing with small circles for better control

To whoever is reading this Jesus loves you and he’s coming soon. All you need to do to be saved is believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins was buried and came back to life on the 3d day confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and you’ll be saved. Today is the day of salvation tomorrow is not promised and you don’t want to miss the rapture it will be so bad like nothing ever seen before on earth. God bless

The stools are hard to find in my area. However, I am super excited about this video because I lucked in to finding 2 (on different trips) at Goodwill. I had an idea of what I wanted to do but it’s always fantastic to have more ideas. ♥️ Tyfs I love that you share the good, the bad and the ugly on new products. I don’t really have money to waste on things that just aren’t going to work for me. I also 100% agree with you on the wrinkles when decopaging pieces. If I wanted crisp pieces maybe then it would bother me but I love to create things that look authentically aged over time. It just doesn’t match up if the decopaging is perfect.

I love these stools! And the one with the curved legs. Wow! I love what you did! The decoupage with the cow head! I can’t pick a favorite. I have started learning grain stripes with your masking tape methods and have had very good luck with it. You’re a great teacher! I do have Jami’s grain sack stencils. They do work beautifully, but for me, I pounce with those, not swirl. And a very very VERY dry brush and pounce hard and fast. It’s a workout. But I’ve never had bleed through. The downside compared to your masking tape method is you’re limited in size and design and can’t go around edges like I often want. At least not easily. Love how your white stool turned out. I’m learning milk paint too. Sweet Pickens does have something called “extra bond” to add to your milk paint that will slow down your chippy-ness or lessen it depending on how much you add to your paint. There’s a learning curve and I’m still in it. But I love the silky feeling of real milk paint so that’s my carrot at the end of the stick to master it! I’ve followed you for quite a long time and try never to miss a video! I’m so happy you have retired because your ideas are wonderful and the more videos you make the better for all of us! Can’t wait to see what is next!

All of these stools came out so great. Boy you really worked at the milk paint stool. But your perseverance paid off! My two favs are the Durham Warehouse stool and the set that has the chicken and the cow. I love those so much. Oh, The Reclaimed Heirloom says to use Saran Wrap (she wraps in sort of a ball) on decoupage paper to smooth it out. Just thought I’d throw that out there. Also, I’ve had a lot of problems with the JRV grain sack stencils not laying flat - they are so flimsy. Any tips?

Thank you. Yes I tried the ball too. But just find my hands just fine. Thank you. I might try a tack spray the next time I use that stencil and the dry brush pounce technique. That’s the tips I getting anyway

Hi, I love the stools. I think the tape from dollar tree works better for the lines. You also changed the way you put the paint on. The tape you pounced or tapped the makeup sponge. I noticed with the brush you didn’t do that. Those stencils I find are hard to work with, I actually used a sponge roller and it did work. I prefer tape. Anyway, as usual all of the stools are wonderful. Your artistic ideas are also great! Keep it up, I can’t wait to see the next project!

I have seen people use spray adhisive to hold down the stencils and then just pull it off when done. It might help. Also.... That stool turned out AWESOME!!!!

Suggestion: power sander: you are using 220 grit use 300 to keep from the extreme distress marks ( down to the wood ). Just use no pressure on the top of the sander. Otherwise you rock!

Thanks for another great video. I love how the stools turned out, especially the ones with the decoupage paper. I do not care for the JRV grain stripe stencils, I think you should stick with the tape.

Yvonne, I'm curious about the cost factor using canned spray sealers. I know they actually go a long way but does the convenience offset the added cost? Is it possible to use a sprayer for this step? I'm not even finished watching this video yet, but I know I'm going to love how they turn out! Thanks for sharing so much with us!

Yes.. sometimes we spray the top coat. It just depends. The convince of the can.. or the set up.. clean up if the sprayer.
