I've seen Mark Knopfler play this live a million times and he never plays all the licks, and most of the time the solos, exactly like the studio version. He usually tosses in one or two familiar licks to get the audience cheering, but other than that he plays it twiddly bits. He improvised it all in the studio then picked out the licks he liked for the recording.

There are many good Sultans tutorials out there, but this is truly superior. The tabs are amazing and include the fingerings, tab, and the notes. Excellent musicality all the way through and, let’s be honest, Sped is pretty entertaining. 🎉

Thanks for the reply. I’m old enough to have seen all the greats - Page, the Who, Stones, Clapton, all over a dozen times. I consider I can’t really name a favorite. I can honestly say that you have Mr Page down to the last note. Takes a great deal of effort and dedication to achieve this. Plus it’s very obvious that you love what you do. Again my thanks.

Thank you for this and the other two videos in this series. Hands down the best Sultans of Swing tutorial on KZbin. I've had the intro licks and the first solo down for years, but never bothered learning the rest of the song until now. Coupled with the backing track "Sultans of Swing without Lead Guitar" and a Twin Reverb model, my fingers are sore from jamming with the band. Awesome job

All the Epic KZbin videos must bow down to this Epic video as it sets the new standard of what an epic video is. Pure Epic-ness. But, and I hesitate to bring this up because there's enough Epic-ness to overcome any issues that some anonymous KZbin commenter may bring up - are you using the middle pickup here???? Because it looks like the middle pickup and we all know that Mark didn't use the middle pickup!! Not EVAR!! I mean - Sultans is *defined* by the sound of the no.2 Pickup position!! Sped. Sped. Sped.
