Adding here because it was remiss of me not to mention it in the video, but to do a tag breaker you must hold(not press) the tag button, and as long as you have 2 bars you will tag-break the combo you are in.

Its also worth knowing that when you jump, you are vulnerable during the pre-jump frames. So you can no longer chicken block like old games, if you hold up back, you will generally get hit and die.

I feel somewhat forgiving since the last big new fighter was Tekken 7 and they straight up didn't even have a tutorial. But yeah kinda lame, stuff like the hyper hop is very important for characters like chris, hulk and doctor strange and not even mentioned.

Built in Tutorials and mechanics explanations is a fairly new concept to the genre. There are hundreds of fighting games and only some of them actually try to teach you how to play the game from a beginner level. Most people had to figure stuff out on their own, or wait and learn from people who figured it out first.

1:54 Actually, unlike in KoF you can control how high you want to super jump by pressing down at any time during the jump, not just immidiately after you do the super jump

To add on tags u can hold down to avoid the incoming hit. If someone raw tags, u can input a throw n u will always grab them on reaction

rooflemonger yea it was actually the reason why I watched the video is for the tag break and ended up learning other things from it. Thought the tag break was going to be something more similar to a V-reversal, but it was much more simple.

will hyper hops work for pressure a.hp dashes on ultron, dormammu , dante and jeddah? (so if you rapidly do down downforward down and dash will that help wit the over head rushdown pressure? im trying to learn the neutral and how to pressure, cuz MY GOD this is TOTALLY different from UMVC3 and its so unciomfortable cuz i never played a fighting game with punch and kick XD i only played umvc3 lol)

Actually when i dash i actually i usually use double forwarf not both punch, since i use a gamepad its a lot easier ! ( i kbow its the un usual choice but thats my prefrence

Well go for your preference but when it comes to stricter timing things like staircase combos the double forward method just ain't gonna cut it unfortunately.

I will have stuff on other characters in the following days/weeks although never been much of a zero guy so I don't know much about him sadly. That said for the blaster to charge it you hold any one of your 4 attack buttons and it will charge up, letting go of the button releases the shot.

That's a person to person thing. I will say I personally play stick, but there is nothing in this game that gives a stick player any advantage over pad or vice versa. A quality stick can be a pricey investment but honestly nowadays sticks are mostly for us older players. Heck Mortal Kombat and Guilty gear, I prefer on pad over stick myself.

No shame in just starting with the basics then! Remember that your "magic series" combos is always light punch, light kick, heavy punch, heavy kick. You can at the very least always do that into down+heavy punch which is the universal launcher for any old air combo. Don't be afraid to beat up on the computer for a while as you get settled in!

Melee came out in 2001. Marvel Vs Capcom 2 had wave dashing and that came out in 2000. I am not sure about Tekken, but other games definitely predate Melee with this technique.

roofle you should come back and help this games community make a comeback with fchamp. hes been doing videos and they put the game on sale and a lot of players are coming in to the game but theres not much new content in 2021 and i feel like this game is in the sweet spot rn
