Let's learn Zhuyin together!
Hanyu Pinyin is used in China. In Taiwan, we use Zhuyin(ㄅㄆㄇㄈ).
Zhuyin is used in our daily life as well, especially when we are typing characters.
The advantage of Zhuyin is that you will get less influence from your native language, and the way to "spell" the character is very straight forward!
This video suits everyone, but if you already know some basic Chinese characters, I have another version of it. Let me know if you are interested in it.

I love Zhuyin, even though I knew it for some years, this year is the first time I'm using it extensively. It took me a while but I've successfully mastered typing it on mobile and computer. Thanks to Zhuyin, my pronunciation and tones have improved since I have to type out tones on computer, and I think Zhuyin and Chinese characters look really good together, just like Japanese Kanji and Kana. It's also not that difficult, it feels a lot like learning Korean Hangul.

Two of the advantage of Zhuyin is that you'll get less affected by your native language (alphabet), and helping you to learn characters. I have students start from Pinyin and then Zhuyin when they're going to Taiwan. Glad you find it fun to learn!

@@taiwanwan5310 I've always absolutely hated pinyin. Zhuyin makes me think about finally learning Mandarin. Also, when I learned Hangul, I realized that latin alphabet letters / romanization was not only a total waste of time for Korean, but it often led to wildly inaccurate pronunciation. I think Zhuyin has the same advantage. That said, it is Such a good system that I almost wonder why Hanji are necessary at all. Almost ... I know they add clarity in communicating specific meanings and there's lots of nuance and history in them. A couple tips: I don't recommend showing students English words at all for Chinese vowel sounds. Not only are English vowel spellings highly irregular, but across English dialects vowel pronuciation can vary VERY wildly. So, those examples can be quite confusing for English-speaking students. Also, there are two characters for the "oh" sound. I don't hear a difference between them and you didn't explain it.
@SimplicityForGood
@SimplicityForGood 3 ай бұрын
As soon as I moved to Taiwan I totally stopped using pinyin and since then only used zhuyin... it became clear to me later on that pinyin is really faulty and more confusing, especially for English speakers, like Americans.. When they came over from having studied at Harward for 6 years to Taiwan to study Mandarin with us they sure knew a lot of explanations of how words historically were created and that was all interesting to hear about, but their pronunciation is not even at a level of someone who had only studied fulltime a year at National Cheng Kung University, and when we studied together and began to break down the pronunciation using b,p,m,f they all changed their pronunciations in weeks despite having trained with super famous mandarin teachers at Harward that taught them literally nothing useful than bragging about the communist party... they were all stunned at how six years of mandarin studies at Harward led them nowhere in how to converse with either mainlanders or Taiwanese people in Mandarin while a couple of months later in Taiwan they were so happy they finally could sound like a native Mandarin speaker and not sound like some moron from America that is literally deaf.. lol.. so just telling everyone here who is new to Mandarin, just skip pinyin! is also not meant to help anyone at all. The truth is that Mao Ze Dong wanted to exterminate all Chinese characters and only use ABC for Mandarin and had a team working on it, but as there are about 50 000 characters in Mandarin, even if not all are used today it was still too many characters that shared the same sound like Yu got 82 different characters... so they told him that this is never going to work only using ABC to re-create the whole Mandarin language... so they started it with the Pin Yin and then when this did not work they deleted all deeper meaning of the graphic Mandarin characters so to make sure they did not hold any historical content or clarity to how they were once created, and the simplified crap Chinese was born, the CCP or Mao Ze Dong Chinese, which it literally is! is not Mandarin, is a language created by one sick dictator who killed 80 million people and exterminated the whole culture and history of China... Ask yourself, if Hitler made a new type of German and exterminated not only people but also all German poetry, culture and history, would you wanna sit down and hard study Hitler's own little German book to learn to speak German?! Nooo, that would be insane as that would involve you also supporting his killing of 6 million Jews and supporting his hateful agenda towards the world.. Why then are you so naive to sit down and study the language of the worst murder of all communist dictators that ever lived, and study his own highly limited and unnatural and faulty pin-yin and simplified Chinese, which is nothing but a kidnapped language and culture?! What are you really supporting? what if the Taliban made their own Arabic for extremist Islam, would you go study that style to learn Arabic? you really should ask yourself what on earth you are doing upholding such a perverted and sick human being's one-man-made insane ideas of stealing the language of his people as supporting the CCP Chinese of Mao... what are you supporting really? today, one can say that people in areas that write traditional Chinese understand also 80% of the Mao Ze Dong CCP Chinese, but the horrible truth is that of the mainlanders who grow up learning only the simplified, deranged and corrupt form of Mandarin only understand 20% of actual Mandarin, the one we refer to as Traditional Chinese... that is heart breaking to say the least, imagine you could only understand 20% of your own language and your government, a dictatorship uphold this deranged concept isolating your chances to actually learn your own language and real history! Honestly, there is only one type of Mandarin and that is the traditional one, it naturally developed over 7000 years while the CCP version was developed not by the people of a nation and geographic area, but solidly by a small team with the worst murder and dictator of all communist bandits, Gong Fei, we ever seen.. Do you really want to uphold and support something so disgusting? I hope not.. 80 million people were murdered for Mao's little red book to be created and dominate and control everyone's mind in China back then... I think it is time we throw the simplified Chinese and pin yin where it belongs! Throw it in the trashcan, the sooner you can the better, and totally abandon it and instead study the real traditional Chinese. That will also support all Chinese and Taiwanese people to come closer to each other and restore the past glory of an amazing culture that once upon a time flourished all over China. Zhuyin is the way to go! And do use study books that also have the pictures with zhuyin that show you how the jaw changes equally to how the strokes in zhuyin are drawn so that you can feel in your mouth what you are doing and where you place your tongue, that is what zhuyin is made for and jow kids learn in school in Taiwan! is very practical and direct! let me give you an example of how confusing pin yin can be for English speakers... like the word I, in pinyin it is Wo, but when our American students see it on the whiteboard of the classroom they all say WHOA, and make the Japanese Mandarin students have a big laugh altogether, and the Americans sound stupid, is not their fault, is the fault of Pin Yin! Is not pronounced whoa like 99% of All Americans come out after class telling everyone on the street they bump into when they meant to just say, I... as in for example, "wo kan dao ni" = "I see you", by American students sound just like, "Whoa can daav knee"... - is horrible how badly Harvard teaches Mandarin! It should for you English speakers sound more like "O ka-an d-aooo n-ee" and then add the right tones to that, I cannot write tone symbols on KZbin but you can look that up "3, 4, 4, 3"... but never ever say whoa can daav knee with a typical big mouth American jargon again, please! 🙈 Harvard CCP pinyin Mandarin is a joke I hope you will consider to learn Zhu Yin after this short lesson on what is all about...

all of the Hanyu pinyin are high tonal sound?
@taiwanwan5310
@taiwanwan5310 2 жыл бұрын
I think the reason you think it sounds high tonal is because the muscle we use to speak Mandarin is around vocal cord while English use the muscle more on apple cheeks (sorry that I can only use English as an example) which make the tone sound bit lower. I saw some articles about it, correct me if I'm wrong :)
