I don't sell courses or memberships or run sponsorships on the channel, but I did create some pretty sweet (if I do say so myself...) software that automates the eBay record keeping process so you don't have to keep brittle spreadsheets updated. It's called Flipwise, and you can learn more about it here if that sounds interesting to you: flipwise.app (Use the promo code N3LFgsS8g for 20% off your first month!). Below are time codes you can use to jump around to different questions in the video: Is there a difference in cost if you print the label at USPS vs at home? 3:08 What if I gave buyers a little something extra? 6:13 Why do I get offers for things I look at when researching? 11:20 When should I get a CPA? 12:20 Is it worth being a Top Rated Seller Plus? 16:54 Is it OK to use Media Mail? 19:41 What is the best used clothing to sell? 25:46

Hi Justin, You have helped me out with your videos so much I thought I'd give you a tip. A garden flag is one of the small flags that goes on a small metal stake in the ground. The large flags you are selling are usually called house flags and hang from a pole on your house. Being an old gal that buys those items I thought this information might be helpful to lead buyers to the right size flag encase they don't check the sizes you included. As you know people don't always read the details. Thanks for all of your help!

Hey JR - I continue to appreciate your honesty and transparency - it’s very much appreciated! There is another reseller on eBay who claims to complete listing is 45 seconds or less. For any of us who have some experience, we know this is not realistic, but I feel like it gives the wrong impression to new or prospective eBay sellers. Your video is an honest example of what it takes to list.

This was an Extremely Helpful Video!!! My struggle has largely been how to list items quickly! And by listing, I mean: Everything that is involved, from cleaning, sticker removal, entering stats into a spreadsheet and inputting a SKU for inventory, Researching an unusual item to list and price it correctly, etc. Takeaways from your video that I haven’t been doing is: 1. No need to take at least 6 photos of an item (all sides). 2. No need to necessarily enter anything in the Used Condition box! 3. Regarding photos, I see that you don’t brighten them up. Apparently, I’m being too persnickety about making at least my first photo stand out amongst my competitors. 4. No need to put items in a protective plastic bag prior to storing them in my inventory to keep them from getting dusty. 5. Since you do flat rate shipping, you don’t have to weigh the item, which I do, in my calculated shipping procedure. And 6. This is the biggest one for me…. After you’ve entered in the photos to the draft on your phone, complete the listing on the phone ebay app! I was taking the extra step of doing it back on my computer and re-checking everything one more time. Every extra step can waste time I guess. So once again, thank you so very much for making this video and for using the hard goods category for examples. Most videos I’ve seen have been done with clothing and since I never sell clothing, those processes are quite different and unrelatable to me.

Of course I’m going to tell you it was 39“ x 28“. It is so good to see a realistic listing session. It’s not just sitting down and listing something. One after another. You have to measure it then you forget the measurement you have to go back and measure it, let’s not forget and sitting down 100 times getting items. Another fantastic video. I think a lot of us would like to see you at garage sales as well as a few thrift stores.

I am a bookseller. I frequently acquire hundreds of books that I don't list through purchasing entire Estates book collections. I often throw in an extra book on a related topic and get great feedback from this. I only add a freebie if it's under the media mail shipping rate that buyer has already paid (it increases by whole pound).

Just to add to the Media Mail question. I ship custom made DVDs and USB drives for my 9-5 job and used to ship Media Mail all the time. Any CD, DVD, or Media Drive(Hard Drive, USBs, etc) is in the clear, but like Justin said, video games are out of bounds for some reason. HOWEVER, I would encourage people to avoid media mail in general. Media mail gets sorted to it's own bin at the post office and goes to separate facilities from standard and priority mail and can take up to 7+ days to arrive depending on the time of year and other factors. I've moved almost exclusively to Ground Advantage shipping. Price difference is negligible when you factor in how much faster the customer gets their order and GA includes $100 of insurance while MM does not. Also, if a MM package is found in violation, the shipping rate will be adjusted and it will still go to the customer, but they will have to pay the difference to get their package. Not worth the hassle now that rates have gone up.
@mauison2 ай бұрын
I've basically stopped using Media Mail unless it's a very heavy package, like a bunch of books, because it takes three weeks to be delivered from here (Hawaii) to the mainland. They ship it by boat so it takes much longer than Ground Advantage. For a single CD, DVD, or book, it's such a small difference in price between MM and GA, that I use GA.

Nice change of pace to see your listing process. You've really got things down to a science. Think one of the biggest challenges for lot of inexperienced resellers is creating listings in an efficient manner; easy to burn up a lot of time if you're not careful. Well done.

JR, great video, super content. And funny too! Just wondering if anyone else takes photos, on their phone, 1:1 ratio first, then list through the app, uploading photos, in the order you want the photos to appear, then finishing the listing, also on their phone? I used to write down every item and now there's no writing. PS I'm also not shipping my items with an inner bag thanks to your advice, no one has complained ;)
@debbieholt82612 ай бұрын
I remember reading a comment from a fellow reseller a few years back, who said, if her purchases are not wrapped first in a clear plastic bag, she will never order from that seller again! I do think they give a nice presentation. Even though buyers know they are many times buying a pre-owned, used item, I always take that little extra time to make it look nice. No buyer wants to receive a dirty, dusty item that has been sitting in someone’s garage, from an ebay seller who is charging what the market will bear plus shipping costs, so I always take the time to clean it up the best I can and place it in a clear bread bag before packing it to ship.

Hey Justin, thank you so much for your channel, you have been so very helpful with me starting to sell on EBAY! Also a big kudos for Flipwise, it has been a game changer for me when it comes to record keeping! My question is in regards to this particular video, and how you research items in this video by entering in a description. Do you also use the camera/scan functionality in the EBAY app to research a t all? I am more limited in scope as the bulk of my items are video game, and board game related, but it seems to work very well for me. I’m currently listing 10 items per day via scheduled listings and sales have been going well. What I’m not sure of is if the algorithm sees these the same as if I manually listed them, or if I’m losing the perceived benefit of listing every day by scheduling them out. I agree, I rarely ship Media Mail anymore. A single CD is 5 cents less to ship Ground Advantage and single DVD is just 5 cents more. Added bonus, the customer gets the package 3-4 days quicker. Hi Justin, another great video!. Thank you for putting out your informational videos. I really learn a lot. I was also promoting my items at 2% based on something you had shared in a previous KZbin video. However, eBay automatically changes all my 2% promotions to whatever the percentage is that’s trending for that item at that moment. I don’t know how to fix that. Do you have any suggestions?
@RetrObscurity2 ай бұрын
Do you ever comp using image search? Many items have exact names (like those 3M card games) so searching with keywords would get accurate results. Something like the VTG Halloween cardboard cutouts are so generic that you might not locate a comp with keywords alone. The eBay image search or Google Lens (which can image search sold eBay listings) might be more accurate. It might streamline your searches. In order of preference I search (scan) UPC, then image search, and finally text search.

Okay Justin - this is a new one for me and I need your advice. A buyer asked me to delay shipping because she’s on vacation. Do I ask her to call her post office and ask them to hold her package, and ship on time so I don’t get a ding on my selling status? Or do I just send it out when she requested, and then call Customer Service after the ding shows up on my account and work with them to get it removed? She did message me through eBay, so I have proof that she asked. Thanks in advance for your help! You are awesome!
