I can hear that Storm Choir has a lot of reverb and effects on the voices, whereas Lacrimosa sounds very dry. It would be nice if they were all dry or all wet. Makes it harder to compare them fairly (at least it seems to me).

Thanks a lot for this!! Really demonstrates what each of these are good at. I am honestly shocked that no other library has something like word builder. I used that five years ago and thought this was a normal thing, now I was looking for something better sounding. :D In terms of tone and natural flow, Ark and Storm Choir certainly are better (with Oceania sounding epic as hell, but having no good flow in my opinion). This really helped a lot getting a good sense of what might be the right tool for which projects.

I like the clarity and tightness of Oceania but found Storm to be more realistic. Maybe with some processing over Storm would be perfect. I have Wotan and Freyja, with their performance patches you can activate the dynamic range up to minus/plus 6dbs, which is affected by the velocity of each note, so you can make some syllables to stand out even more, or less. I may think you can do the same on Storm Choir, so you can get closer to that "in your face" state Oceania has. Thanks for the vid mate!

I liked Ark choir & Oceania the most, but EWQL might be as you said the more flexible one, if you have time to work it out.

Well the Eric Whitacre choir is the opposite of an epic choir, I’m actually doing another choir shootout for the more lyrical/intimate sound, like 8dio Silka and Insolidus, fluffy audio Dominus, and possibly Eric Whitacre (don’t own that one yet tho)

Thoughts on Audio Imperia Nucleus Orchestral Core? I know that it's a more of a all-in-one instead of just a choir library, but still wanted to ask.

I think it’s a great product, if I were starting out and needed a full orchestral library at a good price, that would be my first choice hands down.

Got Nucleus, and it’s great. Thinking about Storm Choir Ultimate to boost the vocals as they’re just ok in Nucleus IMO.

Hey does this do some softer textures as well I know that wasn't the intent of the library but it's a lot of money so I'd rather not have 1 trick pony so to speak

Search KZbin for “strezov LOTR prophecy” and you can hear George Strezov use this same library for a really varied piece with very soft AND loud dynamics. It works well for both, though I prefer Wotan and Freyja for the softer stuff generally, or Audio Imperia Chorus (though I prefer the polyphonic legato of the Strezov stuff, and Storm Choir actually does soft dynamics surprisingly well)

I don't have that one, though I have some others from Soundiron, their Venus and Mars choirs. I like them both especially the soloists and legato

@@christophpawlowskimusic213 yes I think they sound great and are very versatile. They seem to be fairly underrated, you often hear people mention Strezov choirs or 8dio lacrimosa much more often than the soundiron choirs, but I think they are just as good. Strezov has polyphonic legato and the others don’t, but the tone is very good for all of them, all great choirs IMO.

Nice review! How does Storm Choir Ultimate compare to Wotan + Freyja? Can Storm Choir completely replace the others or are there differences that would make it worth having them all? Thanks.

I think they are both worth having. There’s just a different overall tone and sonic quality with each, with storm being more intense and vibrato heavy.

Thank you for your hard work. I would have liked to hear the actual lyrics - KoRah - MahTah - etc. the "K" consonant cuts through so much better and the "O" sound is quite different from the "Uh" vowel that you used. IMHO, it DOES matter what vowels and consonants they are singing - Williams (and other composers, for that matter) are very intentional about the consonants and vowels they choose, even if they are, as you say, gibberish. I would like to hear something with actual understandable text to see just how realistic it can be. The tone was convincing, but the vowels and consonants you chose sounded very mushy/muddy to me.
