How lovely for you. I took over a plot in 2021. This year 2025. I’ve just got a second plot next to my first. Your have a ball my plot is my happy place. I went from only growing a few food items at home. Onions tomatoes and peppers. Now I grow 85% of our fruit and vegetables. I wish you luck with your new allotment what a lovely exciting time is coming up for you. Yes hard work. But so exiting. Love to you Kim xxx

@bethanskitchengarden I've had a garden for almost 40 years...after I saw that wonderful BBC show..."The Victorian Kitchen Garden"....I had a garden 60ft. X 120ft. but after 48 years of heavy work my back,shoulders and hands are done....my garden when we moved to the country became smaller 24ft. X 50ft. with several 8ft. X 3ft. X 32 inch high hot boxes....it helps me to get an early start and help to extend the season....life changes and one must change with it....Happy New Year !

Oh no sorry to hear about your onions, which ones are they? Kelsea, Alsea or Delsae? I have more onions to sow too, at this rate my new allotment is going to be just onions 😂 If you have anything to send that would be great, thank you so much 😍. That's what I thought too Ali, not too big and a bit of a blank canvas. Hopefully Jan/Feb will have some dry days and I can get cracking. @@bethanskitchengarden Yes very odd temps next few days and getting back in a week or so. Not sure i like the high temps before the big drop. I am here cheering you on from the side lines though and well excited for you this year. Hopefully the cold weather will kill of some of the weeds and seeds there for you. Like you said, getting access to the compost bays are the priority. Spend the other time on getting the greenhouse ready and planning and ordering seeds. Just like having a new baby rest and prep! The great thing about it is that you have been here before and just about getting into the routine again. Will be here for any video updates, no pressure on recording as it will be time and weather dependant! I am just excited for you on taking the plunge again. Take note if you aren't already on the age of the new buds on the rhubarb and how they form for the variety over the year. I am sure there are ppl who would love a rhubarb plant. Hope you Have a lovely NYE. Our kid got up super late 8am today! (normally an early riser 4.30 - 6.30am) 2.30am on Christmas Day! I can't carry them any more upstairs so hopefully we do the fireworks, watch from the loft window. Might not see the Thames fireworks due to clouds again but will be fun. I used to live in a block of flats in Putney and me and my sister would go to the top floor in our pj's and watch the Thames fireworks as kids. I went there in 2k but was really busy and lots of pushing and ended up walking home as no transport. I can't be doing an extra 4 mile walk on top, with a child en tow nowadays. Not as safe as it used to be either. x

Great video. I always tip my pots of dahlias out as I am scared I will damage the tuber trying to dig them. I just put the last 15 of my 80 dahlias into storage today. I dy the tubers off after cleaning them up and then I put the tuber in a produce bag and pack in pet bedding into a crate. I usually get 6 tubers to each crate. The crates are stored in the workshop which is frost free. I start them back into growth towards the end of March. I had some great celeriac this year but my swedes were a failure. Parsnips i haven't dug yet as my hubster came home with some parsnips given to him by a work colleague, so didn't see the point of digging mine. My greenhouse needs more of a tidy. I did loads in it at the beginning of December but it is now full with overwintering salvias and fuchsias etc. Looking forward to watching your progress and growing on your new allotment.
