Crash team racing is total garbage. The online matches are a mess and getting wumpa coins is a drag. I rather be playing team sonic racing because in the sonic racing games you can rely on actual skill where aside crash team racing relies on weapon spamming, boost spamming, and rotten luck to win. I will say CTR is better with it's content I'll give it that, I mainly got the game for spyro the dragon and that's it. Crash bandicoot is overrated as hell and his games are impossible to get into. I should not need a complex strategy to win and play a fucking racing game.

Racing in Haunted Towers with Zavok is a treat, especially when he starts laughing maniacally when you activate the team ultimate. It just sucks that the online is so dead, I loved playing online while people were active. Also, the Sandopolis remix. I can listen to that song all day, every day.

TSR is a really fun game. I still play it til this day. I wished they had DLC for the game like maybe extra characters like Cream & Cheese, Infinite, maybe even Jet the Hawk and extra stages like Radical Highway, Park Avenue, and some other stages.

TSR as it is now the literal meaning of "This soundtrack came with a free game", and it's sad that the music was the only thing Sega seemed to be pushing a lot(for good reason though) And I still don't get why they removed 2/3rds of the Chaotix and didn't add cream to team Rose. Zavok is fine tho. He gets a lots of BS nowadays when its really not deserving

TSR is a fine racer, with some of the best dialogue from these characters in a long time. But sadly, even with its neat team mechanic, it is completely overshadowed/outdone by CTR Nitro Fueled, Mario Kart 8, and even Transformed.

@@MasuxAnderson because its fast paced, (Mario kart 8 150 feels like wiis 50cc) the games PHYSICS are just more fun than Mario kart 8. In Wii the shortcuts are actually shortcuts not just a random ramp In the grass. The inside drifting bikes are actually good in Wii and super fun to use. The roster in Wii is amazing and so are the tracks. And imo I dont like the realistic graphics of 8, everything looks all muddy and gross, just look at Wii moo moo meadows vs 8, Wii is way more colorful. And it was cool at 1st In mk8 you can make your own kart combo but its actually useless because there is one combo that is objectively the best to use so after that nobody really customized. And finally, Mario kart Wii actually has a skill gap so you need to keep getting better, so the VR actually means something online, for example, in mkw you can gain upwards of 200 vr for 1st (if the rest of the lobby is also high VR) but if u get last you can lose like 400 vr so you've gotta be careful, but you can always make it back for the abundance of shortcuts. In mk8 you get like 15 vr for 1st and lose 5 vr for last so you practically never lose VR, you gain more so it's never satisfying, you're literally just gaining infinite VR I have like 15k by this point (when I used to play)

It's definitely a game specifically for Sonic fans, and the sequel will be way better and likely fix a bunch of stuff. More racers, better AI, a working online lobby... But as someone who just reverse engineered and figured out how to mod music for the Steam release of Sonic Adventure, you've given me quite an idea...

This was a decent racing game but for me after the adventure mode, there wasn’t much to return to and the online was dead. It also didn’t help that CTR came out a month later and just did everything better. (Yes I know it has mtx) If TSR had dlc or kept adding characters and content, it might have been worth hanging onto.

There's this tradition I've been doing since 2013 Every Christmas eve, every New Year's eve, I'd put on Clem's and Johnny's reviews of Sonic 06, as well as the respective long play of the game and just spend the nights away on them till the next morning Seeing where Clement is now compared to back then, I feel the utmost respect towards them for this endeavor (and accomplishment, considering there's only one game left at the time of this video, kinda) So many laughs were had, nostalgia stirred, and overall Easter eggs and hidden goodies discovered along the way I think, for this year, I'll go back to when Clement started all this, and make that my end year bonus for this year Thanks a bunch, your Greatness

Am glad i wasn’t the only one that loved all the dialogue the characters say during races, it’s so funny and helps to make the race feel so alive. Plus the dialogue also can be help for example if your playing as shadow and get hit by a rocket and he says “Your got me Chao” it lets you known that the Chao just hit you with that rocket, so you could maybe try to get them back for it. Plus totally agree that Zavok is out of place, it should had been infinite instead. Well hopefully he will return in a future game because I actually liked him.

1. I’m glad to hear praise for this game. My friends thought it was a waste of money and raised an eyebrow when I bought it. However, it is a really fun racing game......that nobody wants to play with me both online and offline- 2. Kind of sad you didn’t mention the new voice actors that joined this game. We have Dave B Mitchell pretty much trying to voice match Travis Willingham as Knuckles. I think he can use a bit of improvement or even change up his voice to have his own identity as the character rather than just a bad impression of someone else. Then we have Bryce Papenbrooke and Erica Lindbeck as Silver, Blaze, and Omochao instead of Quinton Flynn and Laura Bailey. I’ve been a fan of their work for years and I think they’re great additions (Yes even Bryce Papenbrooke. He’s different and probably doesn’t sound as cool but he especially fits Silver’s more dorky personality in this game.) Next there’s Aaron LaPlante as Omega replacing Vic Mignogna. He sounds the same to me because the voice is usually modified to fit Omega’s robotic nature so....nothing really worth noting unless you want to get into recent VA controversy. Finally, we have Patrick Seitz as Zavok, who has already taken over some of Travis Willingham‘s previous roles in games such as Fire Emblem. Also a big fan of his work and he does great as Zavok. 3. Speaking of Zavok, let me talk a little about the roster. I’m pretty sure he was chosen because Team Eggman needed a Power type character to match the theme of the game. If Infinite was chosen instead, he would probably have to be a Technique type, which conflicts with Eggman a little bit unless they want to make Eggman a Power type. Same thing for Cream being on Blaze’s team for example. Silver and Cream are two characters that are notable for their flight abilities. So, since Silver is more popular I guess they chose him. And for the Power type, Vector was basically the only Sonic character available. Finally, there’s the Chao instead of Cream. I think SEGA and SUMO Digital are aware on how much people loved the Chao Gardens so they wanted to add the Chao for fanservice instead of Cream. I think it would be cool to have Cream in the driver’s seat of the Chao car still instead of Omochao but hey “I digress”. Anyway, great video for an otherwise slept on game. I look forward to your final Sonic retrospective video..........at least until the next Sonic game (which has still not been revealed so we have quite a while)

I had a total blast playing this game. It was better than what I expected. I do wish there were more playable characters in this game like Cream, Espio, and Charmy. But this game is amazing no matter how you look at it. It was definitely worth the wait. And this game is one of my favorite games to play on my Nintendo Switch.

I may not have commented on any of Clement's videos, but I have definitely spent the full 10 years watching all of the content and at the end of it, just wanted to say thank you for the content. It has really been entertaining to watch your very informative (and hilarious) videos: whether it was wrestlegamia, Sonic, Megaman or even the Final Fantasy retrospective. These were excellent to sit through and I always loved coming home from school & now work to watch one of Clement's vids. I will always have fond memories of them (especially 06 and that Eggman plushie). The grin on my face when I first heard Vela-Nova play during Blaze's ultimate was so huge. Sonic Rush is my favorite of the Sonic OSTs & hearing a Hideki Naganuma classic in a current Sonic game is great. I may or may not do my own "step by step" vocals in time with the loop. 6:52 I'm still very pissed about the Chao taking Cream's spot in Team Rose. Cream hadn't gotten a major appearance since freaking Generations, which itself is hardly a major appearance compared to, say, Battle and Rush. And the few actual appearances she got to make in recent media barely amount to much, even in the comics which has all other characters shine! After being left out of Forces, which Cream had just as much reason as anyone to be involved in (considering Eggman took over the entire planet), Cream should've been guaranteed playable in a lighthearted racing game with the rest Team Rose! But for whatever stupid reason that can never make sense, Cream's spot in her established team is taken up by a bunch of Chao: a bunch of non-characters who have as much personality as the Critters of the Classic games/Lost World and the Wisps Don't get me wrong, I do like the Chao, and them being a playable racer in this game *is* a nice off-the-wall choice, which also harkens back to their playability in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. But they should not have included at the expense of the actual characters, especially one who had already been neglected for so long. If the Chao were to be included, they should've been part of Blaze and Silver's team (Marine would've been preferable, but highly unlikely) and Vector races along with Espio and Charmy. But no, let's just deny Cream yet another good appearance -_- It especially doesn't make sense to have the Chao playable over Cream if the reason is to "promote" the Chao, because guess what? Cream already accomplishes that by virtue of *Cheese the Chao* ! Her fucking *Chao* pet who is always by her side!! And indeed, Cream's car could've been Chao-themed since she's associated with them to begin with! And I swear, if someone replies to me with a "Cream's too young to drive!" *AS IF AGE EVER FUCKING MATTERED IN SONIC! SONIC HIMSELF LEGALLY SHOULDN'T BE DRIVING!* And even then, how does this make the Chao any more a sensible choice than Cream? They are literal babies! You're telling me a six-year-old, who is already capable of riding extremely fast hoverboards, is less capable of driving than actual infants??? This is the exact kind of thinking that has been enabling SEGA to deny Cream any decent appearance and I'll be having none of that bullshit

The game already had a low player count from the start but i would say the game died completely once CTR came out which was only about a 2 weeks later. CTR doesn't put you into lobbies with other people while they are racing either but it's still very easy to find full lobbies with people to play with.

My main issue with the game is the character roster. Not the characters chosen, I think they’re fine (yes, even Zavok and the Chaos), but the size of the roster. FIFTEEN characters is unacceptable, especially when Mario Kart 8 had double that BEFORE DLC. Even the previous Sumo Digital racing games had more characters. How hard would it have been to add Cream, Espio, Charmy, the Babylon Rogues, Chaos, the other members of the Deadly Six (Zavok’s here, might as well add some of his pals), and probably other characters I forgot about.

As straight laced they tried to portray Robotnik as an evil no-nonsense villain in Sonic Forces, he never came off as sinister as “Away, before I make mincemeat out of you.” Imagine if the entire game had him in that persona

Bingo Party and Hidden Volcano are still my favourite music tracks, I was disappointed that none of the other tracks have a last lap remix like HV - they just get faster.

I wish this game got a Plus treatment like Sonic Mania did. They should add some more characters: Mighty, Ray, Egg Pawn, Cream, Espio, Charmy, Zazz, Zeena, Master Zik, Zomom, Zor, Marine, Jet, Wave and Storm. And make some adjustments to the teams: like Team Rose having Cream instead of the Chao, who were moved to Team Mighty (consisting of Mighty, Ray and Chao), and Egg Pawn would be part of Team Eggman instead of Zavok, who would be moved to Team Deadly Three (consisting of him, Zeena and Zazz), and Vector would be moved from Team Silver (previously known as Team Vector; which now has Marine taking Vector's place) to Team Chaotix (consisting of Vector, Charmy and Espio). The other new teams are Team Lesser Three (Master Zik, Zomom and Zor) and Team Babylon (Jet, Wave and Storm). And, maybe make an Encore Story mode, like Sonic Mania Plus, which has a few re-writes to the original story of the game, and add about 3 to 6 race tracks based on previous stages from Sonic games. That would be amazing, if a bit unlikely. Granted, this probably still won't top Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed in terms of greatness, but a big "Plus" update for Team Sonic Racing with a big heap of DLC and some patches would be really appreciated.

I remember one guy to did a video on this game before it came out and he had doubts about it and one of his reasons is the power items being in the form of the wisps. No really, I'm not kidding, that's one of his criticisms, he said that he wished that the kart items were the green shield, basically, all the power items from the classic games and the Adventure games. It's not about how they work, it's about what they are. It just makes me shake my head because 'Really? More hatred on the wisps? I get it, you're sick and tired of them appearing in Sonic games since Colours, but are they really that bad? Is it really worth complaining about?'.

@@mysteryperson1958 And one of my plans for my ideal Sonic RPG game is you use the Wisps for things like certain attack boost and buff boosts, trapping the enemies and for defending your party members, and the amount of times you can use them depends on how much you have. But to satasfy the Wisps haters who don't want to see them again, the Wisps would be something that isn't mandatory to win battles, and you can just dismiss them if you don't wanna use them.

My biggest issue besides not having a bunch of sega characters is that Fang isn't in this game, they could've added bark and bean with him. When I used to play sonic drift 2 I'd always play as Fang and when the Sumo Sonic Racing games would come out... Fang was never playable which always sucks because he's such a fun villain also this game is about teams so having Fang, Bark and Bean together would've been a great feature to the game.

You forgot to mention that many of the characters got new voice actors, sure, we still had Roger Craig Smith as Sonic and Mike Pollock as Dr. Eggman and a few others still had their voice actors from previous games, but characters like Silver, Blaze, Knuckles, Big etc, all got new voices

I too, enjoy how much the characters interact during races. Sega even tried to make Zavok edgy by having him say a swear word in one of his dialogues (think it was either "crap" or "damn") Which is ironic considering the censorship swear joke Sega made in the fourth twitter takeover. Also can't help but roll my eyes at how much Shadow is in this game. Just the little details, like him being on both sides of the game's cover despite it being team *Sonic* racing, him competing with Sonic in the opening cutscene, the fact that you'll see balloons of his head floating around on tracks like sky road, the over-the-top writing for him in the twitter takeover...hell, even the white background on the "Team Sonic Racing" logo is the exact same shape as the white tuft of fur on his chest. I wish it was Sega's way to hint at a future game where he's a main character, but it's probably just a simple marketing tactic because "lol edgy boi"

This game was a huge step back from Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed. The “Team” mechanic was an interesting experiment but it’s antithetical to the whole concept of a race: to do whatever it takes to cross the finish line first. Nothing feels worse than coming in first and ending up losing the race because your teammates suck. I sure hope Sumo learned from this failure and makes a decent Transformed 2. I’m also in that camp that was disappointed by the sole focus on a Sonic-only roster. As a fan of Sega games since the Master System, I was hoping for more Sega property racers & race tracks and ended up with an oddly teamed roster of a few Sonic the Hedgehog characters. I’ll stick with Transformed as I got bored with this disaster after a few hours. You are so right about that atrocious new lobby system too! Wow. What happened?!

25:37 - Yes, if only we had a villain established in the last game who was loyal to Dr. Eggman. *looks towards Infinite.* Supposedly, according to the Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia (which has some goofs and errors), Infinite was consumed by the Phantom Ruby after his battle with Sonic and the Rookie, though who's to say Infinite can't return in a later game, right? Though I guess if he did return the expected result would be seeking revenge on Dr. Eggman. Oh well, at least we have Sage after Sonic Frontiers, so she could potentially be a racer for a future racing game.

You really don't need to deal with microtransactions in CTR NF. They're just coins you can get by just playing online. You don't even have to win and you'll still get a lot.

Not sure if anyone else has pointed this out, but speed types destroy projectiles around them any time they get a boost from drifting or burst wisps. Can't remember whether speed pads trigger the field. The tip doesn't make this very clear.
