I love that Book of Mormon! I think it helps to make things more clear of who is speaking and where they are. It is great! Thanks for telling me about it a while ago. Deseret Book also has a study manual that lies flat. I picked mine up earlier so I would have it. I'm so glad that I have found you again. You are an inspiration to me! Thank you!

What study manual is it that lies flat? Is it the Come Follow Me?

Yes, it is the Come Follow Me Manual. They have it in "study" format.

So excited to study the Book of Mormon this year. Do you keep all your old scripture journals and come follow me journals once you fill them up? Just curious!

Good question. I've kept my journals for many years. I'm running out of room on my shelves so I'm wondering what to do about that. Do you keep your journals?

Correct me if I am wrong, but when I try to honestly ask online for the definition of what makes something a "Sacred Scripture" it always refers to BIBLICAL writings.... so thinking I would take out the word "sacred" and only use the word "scripture" and it also refers to the BIBLE.... NOT the Book of Mormon. So, my very serious question is the same, what makes the Book of Mormon sacred or scripture? And can the things I write, or others also be consider sacred scriptures? I am NOT trying to attack anything you may belief... I am only seeking an understanding of those/that term. Thank you for a clarification.

Thanks for your comments today. What a great question. I've been thinking all day about it. What is sacred scripture? To me, sacred scripture is when the word of God is recorded for us to read. I think our beliefs might diverge because I believe the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the word of God. I believe the Book of Mormon is the word of God, recorded anciently on gold plates and later translated by Joseph Smith. I believe these are the words of God for us to read in our day. That is my personal belief. That's why I consider the Book of Mormon and Bible to be the word of God, and to be considered sacred scripture. That is my personal belief which may be different from your belief that it's only the Bible that contains the word of God. I appreciate that question and I hope that helps answer it.

Thank YOU.... many times it can be difficult to get someone to answer a question without them having an attitude of attack. @@MarcieNielsen I have no interest in fighting, but feel many are. If I haven't misunderstood your belief, and again correct me if I have, you believe something is sacred scripture because you believe it is true. To me, I find that comes up to "One's opinion" which has me deeply concerned. I, ME, personally are uncomfortable believing in an opinion. I am seeking truth found in fact. One last question if you don't mind.... again I mean no offense, Mr Smith was told all the churches in his area were wrong and he needed to start another belief system (or something like that)... my question, what were they doing wrong to have God discount their opinions on belief?

@@TrailToughTrailers I love your questions. It's tricky to have a belief in scripture without it being a personal belief/opinion. I don't think there is anything concrete on Earth on a spiritual level. I think that we have to just take that leap of faith and believe in something. That's just my opinion. I have developed that faith and belief by taking things that are found in the scriptures and applying them to my life and seeing if they work. If they work, then I find that is truth for me. In answer to your second question, if you look in the Joseph Smith-History found in the Pearl of Great Price, Chapter 1, Verse 19 Joseph Smith talks about why he was asked to not join any churches at that time. He says of his first vision with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ: "I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.” It seems that those churches around him at that time were not in line with God's teachings. Our church also believes that after Christ left the Earth there was a great apostasy and his priesthood was taken from the earth for a time and Joseph Smith was sent to restore that priesthood to the Earth. So in that way no churches had all the truth or the priesthood. (This is LDS church history is a nutshell.) That's a super quick answer but I hope it helps. A great resource to answer your questions is Saints Unscripted. I watch their channel and recommend their content.

@@MarcieNielsen Well again, thank you for responding. Your comment about the need for "faith" I understand as few things seems to hold up under some study. So, are you saying, in short, because the churches at the time had done away with a priesthood was the reason/concern, or at least one reason? Another point you made I have concerns with is, your comment regarding truth... and that if it works for you then it is truth/true. I have fiends that would take your money/car/drugs saying it works for them and that is now their truth.... so, I can't buy "Truth' is what works for a person. Drugs have worked for me for years, and still do, so back to my earlier concern, at least I think I made it before (maybe those drugs are causing me to forget hahaha), that truth is NOT based on One's opinion, otherwise everyone would have their own "truth" and that would cause our society to eventually collapse. Since I started looking at Mormonism I have found many videos popping up on my laptop.... Big Brother is watching. I also have notice a few naysayers regarding Mormonism. How do you work out those points of concern? Do you personally listen to them and see if they are of any real concern, or just blow them off because they are not going to "work for you" so they can't be true so thereby not worth considering? Here my point, although I did not grow up in a religious home, many people in the neighborhood went to a particular brand of church. When I was a teenager I asked a few of them a concern I had regarding religious/spiritual stuff they believed. A couple of them over the years I have stayed in touch with, so... whenever I have a question I ask them. As an example of questions, "If I had a book titles, "Buddhism is Bad" would you read it" my friend said they would read it. I found that somewhat odd, so I gave him the book and he read it and then answers many, many more questions I had. That has gotten me here... a willingness to read up on other people belief ideas. If nothing else I have found it very interesting in what differences people believe in AND WHY they believe what they believe. So, to bring this back around... your beliefs are based on what you believe is scripture and if it fits then it is truth, and if your opinion is it is truth then it is scripture. Did I miss something....???

@@TrailToughTrailers You've made some really good points. I honestly haven't thought that deeply into it. It sounds like you are really searching. Good for you. I think this will take a lot of time for me to truly figure out. I guess I'm just living my life by faith because I think it's the best way for me to live. It have how that it will keep me feeling well for the long term. I have watched all sorts of mormonism articles and videos, both pro and anti- Mormonism, thanks to Big Brother. I don't go searching for them but I always return to my faith. So now I'm just sticking with it. It's the decision I've made. I understand that I can't really explain it. Thanks for your questions. That will keep me thinking.
