Let's Make Our Own Paint Set (Secret Project)

In this vlog, we will talk about a project we've been working on for about a year. The NerdEcrafter coloring book in collaboration with Sara Rose and Muse kits. This video was taken about 6 months ago when we were testing out different colors to make the perfect companion to these coloring pages. Come along with past jackie to see which colors we liked more than others.

OMG COLOURING BOOK YESSS! As a colouring book artist and KZbinr I am SO SO SO excited! And about dragons tooooo! EEE Ok updated now I've watched the whole video. I really appreciate you spending so long testing different medias on paper. And checking the paper quality too! So many books are just printed on whatever paper and it makes such a difference to ease of use. I am so super duper excited to see this being released

ooooh! so excited for this kit! for colors of water color -- gotta go with the basics: red, yellow, blue, black, silver, and gold. You can mix them to get others, but then, shades of the same are awesome too.

After Jazza and you both posted a video each about your newest kit videos, I suggested to each of you that you make your kit into paint making kits. I'm talking paint from acratch! This looked to me as though it was exactly what you were doing at the begining of this video. Because it is not that... CAN WE HAVE THE NEXT *SNACK BOX BEPAINT MAKING? ALL IT TAKES IS: - Pigment powder - various paint mediums i/e; acrylic medium, walnut oil, oil medium - mixing tools (cups and stirrers as well as glass grinder things and their glass surface counterparts people use to make watercolour paint. Plus pans to put the paint in. Etc.

Those are high-end products. It’s very niche and its own profession almost😅 I’ll absolutely look into it tho!

i think a kit like that would be very expensive to produce. and you would to include special types of masks since you don't want people to inhale paint pigments.

The artwork is absolutely beautiful. Can i make one suggestion, maybe for the next book or before print, have black back pages instead of double sided pages so they don't have bleed through incase use watercolors or markers. (Look at Mei Yu's coloring books for this example) Also you don't have to choose between which side you want to color. Otherwise have to scan and print a copy(or just buy two books) If you want to learn coloring techniques beginner or advanced, i recommend Sarah Renae clark.

@@Quendara that is good to know i look forward to the final result and hopefully won't break my bank too much to add it to my ever growing collection of coloring books. Coloring just makes you feel better and it is a great way to destress. As an artist I have frequent art block, but with coloring i can still be creative and be inspired to work through that block.

i read somewhere the Vivia color sheets. well they aren't very lightfast so if you hang up completed works they have a high chance of fading over time. i think because they use Dye's instead of pigments.

This looks really cool. I was really disappointed that I couldn't end up getting the SNACK box (finances are taking a huge hit as interest rates rise and I'm backlogging sooooo much stuff I wish to buy/support) as I loved the first one and desperately want to try airbrushing. The effort you've put into choosing everything is phenomenal and you should be really proud! Hey Jackie, I did see your color selection and I always tell those who ask me for what they need when setting up a palette, I stress warm and cool primaries. It is better to have more yellows than greens, Mixing a green is so much easier with multiple yellows even if you have just 1 blue! but a warm and cool blue is so important and it looks good from here so far! I purchased some books from Sakuems and I love the watercolor pages, but the bristol/index pages not as nice. I can use color pencil on both but watercolors on the thinner bristol is not as good. I do hope that is something you guys have worked with? I hope to be one of your customers too! Bet of luck with your new venture!

Those watercolors are definitely impressive. Very bold, bright and saturated. So nice! I was wondering, out of curiosity, are the product D colored pencils Faber Castell Goldfabers? I have some of those and thought the product D ones looked familiar. I totally agree with you, Jackie, that the product C colored pencils performed best and seemed more pigmented than the others. I love it when Pat joins you for videos. You guys are so sweet together. There's obviously a lot of love, respect and gentleness between the two of you and Im here for it! ❤🙂

Bruynzeel is a great pencil with a decent lightfastness rating. I was trying to guess what the company was for each as you colored. I got the Bruynzeel right but missed the mark on the other two (I had guessed that C was Black Widow and D was Spectrum Noir) I... um.. own too many colored pencils. 🤫

I would like to see how the colored pencils sharpen. So often, when sharpening colored pencils, they continually break as you sharpen, and you end up wasting a lot of the pencil. I use a manual sharpener because it works better, but still there is a lot of waste.

Yessss!! Knowing how they sharpen is very important. I know they are super popular but the worst pencil crayons I’ve ever used are Prismacolours. The lead just keeps breaking off. It’s the worst. My favourite pencil crayons are actually Crayola! I’ve got the big 100 box plus the Colours of the World skintones set…brilliant. Edited to Add: so obvious where people are from, with this. Colored Pencils for the Americans, pencil crayons (and colour with the U), from the Canadians. I wonder what other countries call them.

I would love to see an option to buy the colouring pages only. I have so many brushes, paints & inks, pencil crayons (& watercolour pencils), that I really don’t need to buy any more, and don’t really have space for it, even.
