I purchased a 24” Blackstone many years ago and inherited a 36” / 4 burner Blackstone a few months ago. I haven’t tried a pizza on this jewel, but today is the day! You guys made an awesome video and I am in the process of noting your entire process in my note-taking app (Evernote) for future reference. I found the standard Ragu Margarita Pizza Sauce at Publix, but not the new. Have you tried both? Notice any difference? Your explanations are clear and concise, and I appreciate the fact that you both show us the entire process from beginning to end. I am about 15 minutes from firing up my Blackstone to cook this exact recipe. Thank you both again for taking your time to share your expertise with the world!
@nando4154 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video guys. I enjoyed it. A few suggestions--The pizza stone is probably unnecessary as it is suppose to act as a super hot surface to get the bottom of the crust crispy. Preheating the Blackstone to a high temp essentially makes it your 'stone'. Also from the looks of it, the top of the pizza looks partially cooked. If I ever do this experiment I would brown both sides of the crust first and then add sauce and toppings. Limit opening the hood as it is letting heat escape too. Just a few things I noticed. Keep griddlin!
@waltwins4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! On every point you made, agreed! We were happy it worked out, but in discussions afterward what could have made it better, we takes a hit either preheating the pizza stone (which would have taken way too long wasting gas), or cook each side longer, leaving only the need to “cook” the toppings and melting the cheese. Great points! Take care and GRIDDLE ON!🤙🤙
@djbrent994 жыл бұрын
I agree with the top crust. It was basically cooked by steam which probably changed the consistency and taste. Also, the hood was open way too much. Cooking on the blackstone i think has potential to be a good pizza oven
@joq7022 жыл бұрын
Using the hood is an okay choice, however, I am thinking about getting a lid, large one, for either Amazon or thrift store that essentially can take high heat and is only about 4 or 5” high with. Lid handle for me to place over the pizza instead of the entire hood of the Blackstone.
@Voyager23B7 ай бұрын
I bought an after-market hinged cover for my 36” Blackstone and it works great! My only caution is that the front cover edge sits in the front grease tray and the cover handle gets VERY HOT (learned from experience). LOL. BTW, the complainers in the comments section need to move on to another channel. I despise people who contribute nothing to KZbin, but complain about the content of other platforms. Cry me a river……………. You guys ROCK! Keep up the great content! BLACKSTONE RULES!

I cook pizza's as hot as I can get them, some pizza ovens cook at 900 degrees, only takes a minute or so, There is such a thing as a Pizza Steel, might look up recipes using that. toast the first side, (the top), pull it off onto a peel, coated lightly with corn meal, crank your griddle up to liquify, sauce, and top the pizza off the griddle, while it's heating, (lid closed), slide the Za on, shut the lid, it'll probably be done in about a minute or two. you don't need the stone at all.🍕🍕🍕🍕🤤🤤🤤 Pizza Steel is also called a baking steel.

Great video guys, I just started my channel, and my first video was a fresh dough recipe. I have made pizza on my Blackstone, but on a screen. I cant wait to try my stone, I never thought of that.. Thank you!!! You got a new subscriber for sure

Oh wow, thank you so much for watching man! The biggest suggestion I’d give for the stone, is making sure it gets nice and hot! We feel the cook would have been better had we gotten it nice and toasty. Take care man, GRIDDLE ON!🤙🤙

Good video maybe make a part 2 on cooking the dough longer since it looks very doughy But good job u 2wins

Thank you so much! For sure the dough didn’t rise as much as we would have liked - we just did a BBQ chicken pizza video a week or so ago - the dough was perfect! kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn3bd4WpYsqdmLM Take care!😃😃

Try using a tortilla for a really thin crust. Works like a charm. Liked the stone idea, had not seen that before. Best regards, Dennis Miller Anthem, AZ

So if I have the Blackstone without the lid pizza is not going to happen?
@waltwins4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! The Los definitely helps, but you could use a dome cover as well - we were thinking of using a wok lid as well (it’s much larger). Hope this helps!🤙🤙

I have a 28 inch, I bought a lid for it, it isn't hinged, but it won't stop me from trying.

Why use the stone at all??? I never use the stone and get a great crispy crust. Yummy!!! Love the videos!!
@waltwins4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much man! We had seen another griddler use the stone and we wanted to give it a try - next time we’ll either use the stone for the whole cook, or not at all. Take care man!🤙🤙

It's now on my list of meals to griddle. Wanted to know if you get the same results from fresh dough? BTW, I just made your Shrimp stir fry and it is just wonderful. Griddle ON !!
@waltwins3 жыл бұрын
Oh love that you tried the shrimp fried rice!! We actually want to do the pizza from scratch - we think it will cook better - we also don’t think we need the pizza stone (we’ve since done other pizza cooks without and had success). Take care fam!🔥🔥

I'd like to see you guys make a pizza using manwich sauce Make your manwich just like you normally would but use that for your sauce and you may want to make it a little bit thinner than normal maybe a little less meat but it makes a great sauce and then you can top it with I like Johnsonville sausage with cheddar cheese in it
@waltwins3 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, that would be so good! You’d get a great mix of sweet and savory! Okay, we’ll add that one to our list! We have a long list of cooks, but this one would be really fun and good!!🔥🔥🤙🤙

Will the Blackstone damage a pizza stone?
@waltwins3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! We didn’t have any issues at all. However, since this cook, we’ve discovered the dough cooked much better without the pizza stone. We recently made a bbq chicken pizza video and used indirect/direct heat and just rotated the pizza every minute - the results were fantastic!🤙🤙

Why not just use the two outside burners and leave the pizza in the center for even heat???
@waltwins4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! We’d be willing to give it a try, however, the whole griddle gets very hot, and spinning it allows a “cooler” side to avoid burning. With the amount of time needed for the cook, chances are, the bottom would burn on both sides. Take care!!🔥🔥

So Waltwins, have you tried the E-series 17” electric Blackstone griddle? And if so, have you developed a pizza dough recipe for its specific use/ Thanks, TOM KC3QAC

Thomas! We actually have that unit. Although we have cooked pizza and calzones on it, we haven’t developed a dough for it… we bought premade.. do you have any ideas brother? Griddle on!😁❤️🤙
