Never felt so relaxed seeing mono black drain doing its thing, thanx for this =)

The last time I remember turbo turns being viable in Standard was when Part the Waterveil was legal. I think that was sometime around Battle for Zendikar?
@empty_g Жыл бұрын
Oh interesting! I haven't seen this extra turn spell before. I think Alrund's Epiphany has a pretty good run too which I was very happy to see rotate out of Standard.
@FrostyK1414 Жыл бұрын
@@empty_g Part the Waterveil was almost reminiscent of Alrund's Epiphany, just hit a bit harder. Instead of two 1/1 birds, you animated a land as a 6/6. On your extra turn you could swing for six, and just keep chaining awakenings until your opponent was dead. It was wild!

Deck looks fun, might be my go to vampire commander for awhile now
@empty_g Жыл бұрын
I love vampire synergies so always in support of that haha.

I know the video is old, but try to attack (if you can) before wiping the board (i think it was a couple of times you could attack before the board wipe. Every point of damage counts), and if you will use the phyrexian tower in your deck and not sac with it, always use the manual tapping to use its colorless mana to avoid problems with auto tapping from the IA. Some time little details like that can make huge diferences in a game. Nice video and deck btw.
@empty_g10 ай бұрын
I'm aware :) When I was recording earlier in my KZbin career it was hard to manage everything and talk through plays. Also with the auto tapper it still gets me sometimes haha. I really should turn it off.
@markburnash8678 Жыл бұрын
I believe the settings can be changed to allow manual ordering of triggers. I think Arena just has it set to auto order by default.

Oh thank you! I'll have to check that out later today!

I'm a bit hesitant to play exile reanimation effects like this, so let's see how it goes!
@empty_g Жыл бұрын
That was a major part of my hesitation as well! It actually was still pretty powerful if you plan your deck around not being able to get anything back from your gy.

No Nightmare Shepherd?
@empty_g Жыл бұрын
Nope! I left it out on purpose because I wanted to see how it would be as a standalone effect :)

Sorry just seeing this now! I'm not super sure what the question is asking. Are you able to give an example?

Ugh, Go-Shintai is right up there with annoying 5-colour commanders I don’t like playing against in historic brawl. Lump it in with Golos, Esika and Niv Mizzet Reborn Though my favourite deck to play against a Go-Shintai opponent is Yorion - keep flickering a Dawnbringer Cleric or Loran of the Third Path and nuke all their enchantments 🙃
@empty_g Жыл бұрын
Haha I'm so used to Golos being banned in commander, I forget its still around in arena. That's some sweet tech and Dawnbringer Cleric is a really great card. I haven't been running Loran of the Third Path because of that second ability to give someone a card but I really should try them out. I had a Yorion deck in paper and you're making me want to put them back together haha.
@lso5013 Жыл бұрын
@@empty_g My Yorion historic brawl and EDH decks are my favourite decks I play. Also my most powerful I think. They’re just really consistent with high win rates. Sometimes I feel bad playing them cause I can lock some players out of doing things… 🙃 Unless someone is playing an OP commander and being a jerk!
@empty_g Жыл бұрын
@@lso5013 I ended up taking mine apart because I'd lock people out and I felt bad about it. I basically made that deck so I'd only lose to drain effects or non-combat related infinite combos. The tipping point for me was after I won a 4-5 hr game where my opponent drew every card in their deck.
@lso5013 Жыл бұрын
@@empty_g That’s understandable. It’s not fun to watch other people play the game while you just sit there with nothing to do. I think that happens all to often in historic brawl, and to some extent, in EDH. When people seek to monopolize everyone’s time, it just makes other people upset
@empty_g Жыл бұрын
@@lso5013 For sure! Thinking about everyone's play experience is important, but I can see why HB would be where people play certain combos or cards they normally wouldn't in paper.

Tome of the infinite is a dumb card but there are lots of alchemy cards I do enjoy.
@empty_g Жыл бұрын
There are some pretty cool cards like Ghalma :) Do you have any favorites I should try?
@mibbzx1493 Жыл бұрын
Kinzu deck is sweet 🔥i always like the aristocraty playstyle because it can play around sweepers very well and the synergy aspect of it is vital. I also agree with you on the alchemy shpeal on the last game, its so stupid losing to cards that don’t even exist in paper or they just “conjure” a copy out of thing air and draft a card from a spellbook its like wtf, any time i see those im like just take the win bruh 😩
@empty_g Жыл бұрын
Aristocrats strategies are one of the many reasons why I like playing monoblack and Orzhov. Yeah hopefully, my rant wasn't obnoxious but I was like...dude hahaha.
@pacoroldan1897 Жыл бұрын
i hate a lot alchemy, is pure madness and so random with op cards
@empty_g Жыл бұрын
I think some Alchemy cards are really cool. It's just the broken ones that give power 9 cards, extra turns, and cards outside of the commanders color identity that I'm just like x_x
Жыл бұрын
That last game was painful. I think Alchemy should be it's own format, not be mixed up with Historic. Kinzu worked quite well, but I still prefer Nightmare Shepherd
@empty_g Жыл бұрын
Yeah it hurt haha. It was a good example of how warped alchemy makes the format and I totally agree it should be a standalone thing. I like Nightmare Shepherd more too. Kinzu is just too expensive and 1 more mana in the cmc can make a difference when it comes to recasting your commander.
